I can do both level 3, haven’t tried 4. 3 doesn’t give me much issues, how much tougher is 4 ?
Just did 5 as a frost. Hard AF. It’s funny because chat was a bunch of pallys bragging how easy the place is
As fire, floor 6 is Skoldus Hall kicked my rear up and down the entire time. I did manage to clear it, but I just so happened to get another 3 stacks of that +2000% filler-from-invis power. I was dumb enough not to swap to arcane before pulling the boss, so my first Fireball “only” chunked the boss for about 40% of its max HP. And then it was too late to respec, as the safety field was gone.
Even then, I think the boss got up to around 7 stacks of his buff before he died. I might have been able to just one-shot it with an AB4, but I never found the power to conjure mawrats and I didn’t think to wait for those recurring-spawning beasts to ramp up.
Those things had 51k HP a piece and spawned in pairs, holy moly.
Torghast to prot paladins is just rambo in and Diablo2 hack-n-slash through it, whereas mages have to read each pack and pull accordingly. Plus not being able to safely eat/drink out of combat without getting adds spawned on you is even more of a slap in the face.
Nevermind the anima RNG where you hope you can cheese-burst the boss before you run out of CDs
Is one spec worse than others? I enjoy Torghast so I’m going to try it on a spec that isn’t great. Saw this title while looking for answers so I thought I’d stop in and ask.
As 186 frost mage I’m able to clear everything except layer 6 upper floors.
The issue isn’t the difficulty, the issue is the time it takes as a mage. It took me 2 and half hours.
One of the reasons being the anima that I was given I had to save all the jars for damage and etc.
The elites cannot be killed without all of the cool downs blown. Floor 5 elites has 400k
Hp and there are packs of them at every corner and the last boss had 1.1mm.
The big problem is the buff that gives 10% speed and damage per stack to the boss, when it reaches 10 stacks the boss is immune to snares, making it very hard to kill, depending on which anima powers you got, its just impossible.
Don’t pick frost. That’s the golden rule right now on Mage forums. No to Frost on everything.
Cant believe no one has talked about the time warp kills your party power. Not only is that insanely punitive in torghast. But one player should not have the power to to kill a party like that without consent.
Frost at least let’s me kite packs of mobs. Would arcane be better though you think?
frost is pretty easy because of the cc. I got wrecked as fire in 6 layer. When you don’t have much CC and no combustion and you are fighting a couple elites, you pretty much screwed. And I hate these gdamn dogs that keep spawning.
I try to keep a Mawrat constantly hitting me to keep me in combat, but I can see how that could be a pain as Fire with Blazing Barrier and Ignite.
But then you can’t eat
You can eat.
Trick is to pop Seraph Tenders like they are candy, then let the mawrat eat at you while keeping your barrier up or polymorph something to keep you in combat until you are healed full enough to kill whatever is keeping you in combat, go back down to 10% while kiting/fighting the assassins, then eat whilst praying that 50% chance to spawn doesn’t wreck you before you get back above 50%.
Also, there is no less shame getting ganked by BS assassins than dying to a trash world mob in a Maldraxxus world quest because you’ve already Ice Blocked and you have 3 stacks of a one-minute DoT as you just watch the inevitable tick away…
What stinks in Torghast is, that as a mage, you really have to plan your pulls. But “eff u!” you get an assassin, and you get an assassin, and you get an assassin!
And while Vengeance DHs can ROFL Stomp that place in a half an hour, you had better empty your bladder before heading into a level 5, cuz that’s gunna be at least an hour and a half.
At least the end bosses this week were slow and survivable. Last week was praying for gimmicky (no skill) one-shot talents, all “Press Your Luck, No Whammy, Stop!” style".
Also, can we get a little open world survivability? I mean, I know all my buttons, don’t do me dirty like a one-minute DoT I can’t do crap all about.
I mean, if you take the right powers you should be able to 1 shot the last boss…invis boost into a stacked frost bolt
I finally got to do some Torghast today. This has to be the most not-fun thing I’ve ever experienced in this game. I’m so glad I got to waste an hour on layer 4 just to fail. Maybe I just had bad luck with my choice of random abilities, but I could not beat the final boss. All of that for nothing.
Well the one saving grace for a spell to hit at 2000% damage was nerfed. GG
At least they made Seeker’s Scroll consistently buff Frostbolt instead of just one hit where you have to do the entire layer without using your signature cast.
Sad times for the last boss nuke for sure. But they did buff a few other anima powers, mainly survivability ones so hopefully the thing goes by faster. They also buffed the phylactery stack in a way for more consistent dmg. Each broken phylactery now permanently increases fireball/frostbolt/arcane blast dmg 2% stacking.
Yes that should help. As long as you get it early. I dont think it stacks though
