Dang that’s pretty sweet. Good for you
My experience from clearing both wings, Soulforges (the easier of the two) I cleared at about 154 ilvl without much of an issue. The last boss I just burned and I had to kite him around for a bit at the end. There was a lot of kiting and freezing involved for most of the wing. You can’t use a raid setup for this, Drippy is a must have here.
As for the upper reaches, it was a bit harder especially with the negative haste I had… Things died extra slow, lol. I had queued with a friend with this one, Feral Druid, so the haste debuff wasn’t an issue for him. We did fine until we got to the last boss. The last boss was not killable for two people (also I think gearing was an issue, he was 153 and I was at 158 at the time). Next time we walked in got a different boss and just destroyed him. We were also about 165 a piece by that point.
I think the biggest issue is going to be making sure you have enough gear for what you are doing. I have a feeling when we open levels 4-5 we might see these issues crop up again. My two cents.
I think the biggest complaint here is that it feels like Mages are in a bad spot compared to a lot of the other classes. Literally I’ve seen Pallys and Druids just YOLO their way through all the content meanwhile we have to plan and pick our battles a lot more intensely. I’m ilvl 172 and I find that if an elite is immune to slow well pack it in, you’re not winning that fight. I don’t think other classes have to worry as much or at all about such mechanics.
I think this is more broadly a larger complaint about the Mage class overall which is it feels like the class has a pentalty on it when it comes to solo PvE content that we don’t have some reward for group PvE content. I typically come in 2nd in DPS on the charts against Monks, and Hunters. Meanwhile Monks can fill any role they want, and Hunters are the best PvE Solo people out there. I think the Mage and Rogue honestly should be the top 2 DPS classes bar none because of the inability to fill any other role in the game other than DPS for other players.
Torg feels like a culmination of what’s wrong with the Mage class. It’s just that I can’t figure out why we’d keep playing this class when there’s other classes who can match what we bring to the table, but also excel at other things where we do not. Ports aren’t as useful as they used to be, food and drink are okay, and our buff is good but it’s not mandatory.
The intelligent mirror image one is lit as fire let’s them spam gpyro makes every boss die fast
I should add they spam gpyro on like 1.5 cast lol
just solo’d layer 3 of one of the new wings as arcane no deaths, and got F grade animas. It’s doable, very doable.
No people are just bad.
People on the rogue forum are crying about Patricia.
That boss is so easy I one shot it.
People just don’t know how to play their classes or torgast
Mages have fun in Torghast I got 7 Runecloth Wrappings on tier 3 by the time I goto the boss on floor 6. I hit combustion and invisible for a 1.8 million dmg fireball crit instantly 1 shot the boss. Was quite fun.
Lucky! I’ve never gotten it more than once and rarely get it at all.
I’ve gotten at least one on most runs, the only time I didn’t get it any I ended up with the floaty eyeball boss and it was trickier but still doable as arcane with low ilevel.
I had four for Cromwell and one shot him, so I don’t even know what he does.
ilvl 175, fire mage, when reached 6th floor, on the way to the final boss, I met a fkin assassin.
I kited, shielded, lusted, spammed all the skills with the correct loop, and I can not even kill him, what a joke.
The second time, I sheeped him up and tried to solo the boss, spammed skills again. At 30%, I used the 2nd sheep to the assassin and got 1 shot by BOSS.
The testers/designers are just brain dead. I can not believe how I could beat this boss when I was just 159 ilvl last week.
They better not nerf Runecloth wrappings… its RNGESUS to get more then 1 of them at like 3+ you minus well play the lotto
I stand corrected I did the level 3 tower of dammed I believe. There were way bigger packs with an elite or two. It was doable but I did sheep every now and then. The previous levels I have been just face tanking damage but I actually had to kite this go around. The hardest mob was this ninja that would spawn on me with 100 k hp but he actually pumps proc’d my caut a few times though no deaths
I let a maw rat follow me around attacking me so the ninja wouldn’t spawn. The rat doesn’t ever really make it through my shield.
If I needed health I would kill the rat, eat real quick then Agro another rat. I guess being fire your shield would eventually kill the rat tho
Ah I need to keep this in mind. You actually need to have a strategy with mage as opposed with blood dk, pally or any other self healing class.
Not saying I told you so but Blizzard literally just fixed their slate of horribly tuned bosses, all of whom I had the misfortune to face last week with crappy anima powers to boot.
From their hotfix earlier today:
“Torghast, Tower of the Damned
Patrician Cromwell and Synod have had ability adjustments to bring them more in line with other bosses.
Observer Zelgar, Kosarus the Fallen, Binder Baritas, and Warden of Souls have had minor ability adjustments to be more melee friendly.
Kosarus the Fallen now gains stacks of Enrage at a slower rate while under the effects of
Predator’s Gaze and his health has been reduced by 20%.
Reduced the health of enemies when 4 or 5 players are present.“
Yeah I think Synod definitely needed to be adjusted. I assume he shows up when higher floors are released and he was just an f you to casters. He would have required S-tier Anima powers to beat on higher floors and that’s just no fun to have no chance if you face him.
Right? I literally spellstole all of his damage reduction buffs and they stack so I had 25% mitigation at all times and he still tore me to shreds when I tried to pump some damage into him between kites or when he couldn’t be kited anymore. I just barely managed to kill him because mirror images came off cooldown just as I was about to die and I popped ice block while they finished him off. If I hadn’t lucked out on getting the power that makes mirror images into a DPS cooldown I would have never been able to clear that run since literally every single other power I got was bordering on the useless. And even then I got lucky because he kept hitting me in the ice block instead of the images which I am sure he would have one shot. Fun times man…
Torghast is just the new visions. Mages weren’t the best for visions either. No one is saying they’re incapable but compared to druids, rogues, and especially paladins, mages have the hardest time.
Now before some ridiculous spazz comes back with “lol just git gud it was EZ” - read what I said. If you don’t get Triune ward or mad wizards or that fireball buff - and get the boss that’s immune to CC … yeah you’re effed
Other classes aren’t as heavily dependent on that RNG for powers as mages are
I only had to redo one of the four layer 3s, and that was on the last boss this week. The dragon guy I think maybe? who spawns the large aoe with 2 little adds that pop out of it. I got him to 12k and died on best attempt, had to start over.
I’m not having any problem doing these, I was ~160 ilvl when I did the two floors this week. I’m pretty sure I was less than 150 ilvl when I did them last week.
Frost has a crazy number of ways to kite, survive and handle torghast. We can practically heal two entire health bars through double ice barrier and alter time, and we can easily kite via shimmer, frost nova, and endless slows. If the adds do finally get to us we can drop threat with mirror images.
I think you all just aren’t using your full toolkit correctly.
Of course, we are a clothie, if we do get hit it really hurts so we just cant get hit. I have yet to fail a torghast run on my mage as frost. Some can get rough though and require a lot of kiting and clever usage of shimmer and alter time.
Also its required to play around cooldowns. Don’t pull a large pack or elite if you don’t have icy veins or frost orb up. Torghast has no time limit so its better to just take your time and go slow
