Mage tower impossible on ret

yeah…its impossible. im doing exactly what people on youtube are doing. They’re blowing stuff up and im hitting like a noodle, same rotation, same talents, same flasks, same potions, same enchants…and yet somehow everytime i get hit with jarl velbrand spamming his aoe snare in middle, same time as 3 runes come up and same time that Sigryn starts up her Blood of the father cast…

Same time every time. Its impossible. and yet on youtube i dont see that happening on 1 single vid, all 3 at once…

How do you do the pally challenge on a DH?

makes 0 sense…why? he’s bladestorming at the same time every single time and sygryn is casting at the same time the runes come up? its like the game will not let me pass…i should’ve completed it a thousand times already

I suggest getting an addon thats like dbm but for mage tower, also running hand of hindrance with a macro to cast it on the axe guy everytime he enrages. Always cast repentence to sigryn (you can also macro that so you dont need to target her) when she casts her big aoe oneshot, time your rep cast so it will always stop her cast right away.

For the shield phase its easier now than in legion because they share healthpool, so aoe is better on the shield. Aoe the whole fight actually.

Also positioning is key, make sure they never set in the middle.

Also, if they start doing all their stuff together, it means you’re in the soft enrage phase, that will happen all the time till you die, or they die, means you aint doing enough damage.

Use food, flask, runes, drums, whatever you can

It’s definitely not impossible? If you’re seeing people do it then I’m not sure why you’d think it’s impossible. I did my first challenge back in legion as holy and then I did ret second, but this time around in when it came out in SL I did ret because I found it to be much easier than holy or prot.

It was a pretty fun challenge. Have to get CC correct every single time, have to make sure you CC bladestorm guy at the correct times and kite, while also keeping up with damage and dodging. This was one of my favorites

I think it’s easier now that we have access to more talents/abilities than we did in SL. Anyway, the most important thing is making sure Blood of the father never goes off and keeping up cleave damage on all 3 as often as you can in between bladestorms and blood of the father.

I will say, you should get the weakauras available for this. Makes it 10x easier as you can see when the abilities are coming specifically the important ones and you can plan for it.

You might be hitting the soft enrage. After a couple of minutes, i forget how long (between 5-8 min), the three of them starts to use their abilities a lot more often.

It is probably easier now than it was during SL. You have a lot more talents available than ppl did last expansion. Just have to get used to the encounter and play accordingly

Maybe, but the SL version was defthe hardest. Legion ret challenge was one of the easitest out there but the SL version was annoying because of how much raw power was stripped from you in conduits covenants and legendaries. It should be easier now I asume because of the talent trees?

Idk I did the Shadowlands one in 5 try after figuring out you couldnt keep sigryn repented the whole time like Legion, but the Shadowlands one was so easy. They made them share health, so you just spammed aoe.

Legion had no scaling so in the first weeks it was incredibly hard, and there werent guide or addon yet. If you said it was easy its because you did it when you overgeared it in antorus

Lol no I did not. Too lazy to check the achievement but I did it in 7.2 with a single legendary. Go back in time to youtube and check out tierlists or guides. The sigryn challenge was one of if not the easiest challenge. I remember doing it on my paladin and then sending my shaman too because of how easy it was. SL challenge was harder because no artifact weapon no conduits legendary covenants.

Just thought I’d throw this out there but prot paladin was the hardest mage tower out of every specialization.

That’s all I had to say.

Wasnt that just because they had it overtuned by like 40% hp lol? I recall doing the challenge week 2 and comparing the fight with my brewmaster guildy and freaking out over how much more hp the paladin one had.

Took over 300 pulls to beat that thing over 3 weeks of attempts and I’m pretty sure it was hotfix nerfed twice in that period lol

From what I recall it was multiple reasons, the damage was one, but you also had to perfectly time every single defensive, while also having to do the most difficult multi-tasking out of all the mage tower challenges because of one wrong step and you’d be dead.

I remember the general feel of completing the challenge and it was more than just damage.

(Glances at Avenger’s Shield and Judgment)

I don’t remember what nerfs did or didn’t happen, but Prot Pal had way more HP because you could very frequently interrupt the first boss with Avenger’s shield and pump plenty of damage into it without getting the debuff.

I personally found Brew to be the hardest of the tank challenges back in Legion. Absent a set bonus, they had some of the worst self-healing of the tanks iirc. I remember feeling much more dependent on the Velen orbs than on any other tank.

Do you know if it’s the same this time around? As in; you can’t make the soft enrage while keeping Sigryn CCed?

Was that the case in Legion? I remember back than that once you got past that moment the fight got easier for sure.

If we gear with Antorus Mythic gear does it scale better than DF gear?

Some things did back in shadowlands when they first brought it back so it is likely similar situations apply. Old enchants, and trinkets were also heavily influenced by scaling.

The short hand goals back then were to grab legion gear with sockets, use cataclysm gems, and pull from a list od trinkets that I dont have on hand but included things like the arcanocrystal, the seed trinket from the first boss of EN, and the punchcard from mechagon.

i dont think its possible… I’ve perfected the mechanics. Rotation is fine, i have drums, all potions, flasks, im cleaving every thing, my interrupts are perfect, cc is great. Class just doesnt deal enough damage.
I hit soft enrage every single time at about 6 minutes. Doesnt matter how i do it, i dont even die from the mechanics anymore, just from the enrage. Just gonna have to wait till ret is fixed. It doesnt have the damage to complete before the timer

You are correct it is indeed impossible. Hopefully they can make some changes and make it possible soon.

I beat it the first week it was available in legion. I assure you its possible.
Just keep on practicing and you will get it.
