Mage tower impossible on ret

You’re watching other people do it, and then also claiming it’s impossible?
Lol.

It took me about a day and a half slamming my face against it.

It sucks for sure. Obnoxious fight and you can get lousy RNG on runes / val’kyr position that ruins it entirely for you.

The trinket from the first boss in Emerald Nightmare (Seed pod thing)

and idk why but after changing to full PvP blues (340 set) I was a lot better off with the massive amount of vers and did it in 2 tries after changing to that.

This isn’t legion they nerfed radiant decree which was needed to pump damage we don’t do enough damage now.

You cannot keep her cc’ed because they share healthpools, so you break it by hitting anyone.

That’s not true repentance keeps her cced

I take it you are using Repentence?
Sometimes you get ability stacks (usually Valkyries and Runes) but mostly should be manageable.

You shouldn’t really ever have all 3 active at the same time though if I remember correctly from back when I did it.

Hmm. I distinctly remember them having shared health pools in Legion, but you could definitely Sheep/Repent/Fear/Hex/Blind Sigryn for most of the fight.

idk about how it was in legion I didn’t play back then. I just know that during SL you basically just timed rep to interrupt sigryns aoe thing that kills you and then kept aoe’ing them all. She def did not stay cc’ed.

(Legion) Outlaw rogue would like to have a word with you.

100% was Outlaw and all the tank challenges (except guardian cause it was the easiest of all specs/classes). Outlaw required like insane gear to be able to finish. Guardian you could go in as a fresh 110(?) and smash it, it was a joke lol

It’s very possible. Keep practicing and win.

I haven’t done it in a while (did the Shadowlands version back in 2021), but the “new” version was definitely tuned harder than the old Legion version was, and I did that in mostly Emerald Nightmare gear, early on.

It’s not impossible, but it’s (or it was) definitely tightly tuned. You’ll have to do everything right to get it down. I’m glad I only had to do it once. Well, once… twice, lol.

Its not. When top na guildies and mythic plus runners say its harder than back then regardless becuase of the disabled talents chosen by blizz, the huge item level nerf to recent version, and how tuned alot of things are to happen at once to make dam near impossible to complete. "near mob will insta kill you if not u will have 2% hp and landing fall damage will finish you off - same time symbol on ground needs stood in for feels like 10 seconds - the insta kill mob is so fast and resists roots less duration and speeds up as encounter goes so 10 seconds is to long - 20 little mobs that move very slow never leave center of arena so their most likely on the symbol - little mobs have more hp and damage ur pretty screwed - same time a Big add with more hp and def casts a one hit ko abilitiy no matter where ur at… So yeah ur screwed compared to back then when hp melted on bosses lol…

Yes! I remember people talkimg about it, as someoke who doesnt play tanks I did the dk warr druid mage tower challenges with krul but the prot pala one was such a increase in difficulty for me. If im not mistaken the prot pala challenge had the highest hp pool and although it took me so many attempts it was fun trying to survive the last phase with different combinations of defensives like sotr, sotr sera, guardian, ardent, ds, bop, etc. I enjoyed it. The other tanks challenges were not a problem at all. Specially the guardian druid one because luckily the first legendary I got were those OP bracers that were bis for that particular challenge lol. All for the appearance I got and never used again because I dislike current prot pala lol.

I’ve been attempting the ret challenge over the weekend and my god the dps req is nuts. I can consistently get to the enrage time when they start spamming abilities at the same time, about 5 1/2 mins.

I’m aoeing like a mad man to maximise dps, using everything on CD and grouping all 3 for 80% of the time and I’m still ~20% off.

Mechanics are not hard, Ive just about got the fight memorised. I don’t get why I’m so far off dps check.

I’m currently going back for old world gear to maximise stats… IE pod trinket from EN, socketed gear from old content… finishing this is a matter of pride now.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good 2nd trinket? Pod has been very noticeable, I think a good 2nd trinket might get me across the line

Update for anyone else struggling. Managed to get it done with mostly 385 catchup gear from latest DF patch. I had the Onyx Amulet ring with storm and combo stones and it did less than 3% of my overall dmg, its nice but scaling has hurt it a bit.

The Ravaged Seed Pod trinket is very good, over 5% of dmg, healing and some haste.
I couldnt find a 2nd trinket to match it in power, I settled for Infernal Cinders from ToS which was ok.

I didnt do anything special with enchants, just standard DF ones. I even had some rank 2 versions of the more expensive ones.

Most of the gains were from consumables: Guide here
I used
Boralus Blood Sausage
Defiled Augment Rune
War-Scroll of Battle Shout
Greater Flask of the Undertow
Potion of Prolonged Power but I probably could have used Potion of Unbridled Fury
Drums of the Maelstrom

The rest of it is just about trying to have them all stacked all the time so you can divine storm spam. Theres some nuances to it, like knowing when axe guy or Sigryn are going to stand still before they do their abilities and pre-moving to them.

I used Wings on CD, and didnt save it to break shields. I found I could comfortably break it with normal rotation as long as it got 100% attention. Theres one shield that can be rough with bad movement to dark wings but it is usually ok.

I ignored hurl axe for the most part, just tried to not be in the immediate impact path but I never moved out of melee for it. The shadowbolt casts from Runeseer I only interrupted when I wanted to move her.

In the end, I completed it with about 4k dps and had some breathing room… but I basically only kited axe guy twice for berserkers rage (I stunned him to shorten the kite period too) and didnt move out of anything except puddles so I could keep dps up. I just about always stay as central as possible to make runes and wings easier. Being Tauren was pretty handy as I had a 2nd stun for bladestorm.
