Mage Tower Extended Maintenance

BrIng SeRvEr BacK I HAVE SO MANY VULPERA HUNGRY AND THIRSTY waiting to be fed by there troll mama drama LET ME IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN

It’s absurd to even suggest that removing stuff from the game is better for its long-term health. The maximum amount of content players can work toward is always better for an MMO’s long-term health. Having new players constantly encountering things they like but are told they can never have is far worse for the health of the game.

The health of the game is its players, and FOMO is distinctly anti-player.

They will return. They won’t “forget”.

Agreed, please bring back the old appearances. I did enough of them to know that the timewalking version is harder, not easier.

given what their tier set looks like. I doubt they will EVER get added to the list.

There is certainly a lot of truth in what you say, and I agree. However…

If players know that they can always just “go back and do it some other time,” it removes a sense of urgency from the game that is necessary to keep things moving along. In fact, if the “go back and do it later” is paired with “and it’ll be much easier in a year or two,” then it disincentivizes people to just play the game now in the state the creators most intend it to be played in.

Or put another way - WoW is trying to appeal to a LOT of different types of people/players. Some people respond very strongly to FOMO, while others want to just casually collect everything at their own pace. They have to try to balance pleasing both, and honestly, I think they do a pretty good job.

Please consider re-releasing the Ghost of the Pridemother MT form for Feral druids, or at least a recolor of it so people can get the sparkle kitty look while Legion players maintain the exclusivity of the old Legion rewards. A lot of players have asked over the years, and this appearance is a little more crucial given that ferals are running around as cats, not in their humanoid forms. On a feral druid, the look of your armor/weps is secondary to your cat form… still not sure why Guardians were given a recolor and Ferals were not. :frowning:

I feel like the fact that both the transmog system and boosted power in old raids exist sort of squashes that argument. They like people doing the content when it’s current, but they apparently also like people doing the content later as well; and if your goal is to cater to multiple types of player, well…

If we’re going for a “balance”, then is it good that one group of players should feel that they’re made to play at a certain time if they don’t want to? Or that they should feel pressured to do activities they don’t want to just then? I don’t feel like artificial scarcity makes the video game that people are trying to play for enjoyment more enjoyable; I’d even argue constantly feeling forced to play burns people out much more quickly, without even including the effect the pile of inaccessible content can have on new players.

Well yeah… it’s psychological manipulation designed for that purpose. It’s why the mobile gaming market is bigger than everything else combined. “balance” is something of an odd concept in this context, like saying “well some people like bath salts and some don’t, so I guess we’ll balance pleasing both”. It’s hyperbolic, but you get the idea… just because they respond strongly to being manipulated, is that good?

That said, I don’t think there is any reason they can’t have a little FOMO without it being detrimental. Ex - AOTC guarantees a mount, then leave it on the boss as one of those .01% chance drops. It might even satisfy more players overall since the FOMOers can take their shot for the guaranteed drop, those who like to farm and gamble later still have that option available. Or heck, the Brutosaur… 5m gold is still more gold than most players will ever see, and likely will be for the foreseeable future. So why would it matter that you might see a few more of them over the next decade of the game?

It kind of reminds me of their reasoning forever that you can’t transmog a Thunderfury, because then you’d see it everywhere! Oh no! And after all of their waffling on it, they finally allow it and now I see about as many of them as I always have because there are, frankly, a lot of much cooler mog options anyway.

I don’t know, maybe I’m old and crazy… but they aren’t making WoW 2, and FOMO has left this game with so much baggage and friction, and at this point I just find it frustrating.

I have a feeling that a lot of the challanges are going to be a lot easier, simply for the sake of all the new talents and combinations that have to be balanced.
The difficulty of the challenges (at least the harder ones) was perfectly tuned. Except for Guardian Druid and some healers.

So PLEASE, take your time and balance them thoroughly. The Mage Tower was (and again is) some of the absolute best content added to WoW over the years.

Yes not to worry the new mage tower rewards will be back I don’t think those will ever change again, they never stated it was a limited time thing never to return like the OG mage tower skins hence why those will never be back.

Are you asking for the guardian Druid challenge to be nerfed more? They already did last year and many of us have completed it now. A slap in the face if they make it easier.

Really? Well, I have to take it back then, I suppose.
Did it in the days before there were any nerfs.
Have only read about adjustments in HP for Kruul after that and some people talking about the guardian challenge still being too and more difficult than the others tanks recently.

I haven’t done the other tank challenges but bear so I couldn’t tell you. Bear broke me this go around. No desire to be sweaty ever again.

At least we both had a great time with mage tower, eh? :grinning:
Enjoying that Fel Bear is just great! I almost like it more than the original ones.

Amazing time /s lmao

I think the original ones are better.

You’re really making me nervous to admit that I had a lot of fun with all of the tank challenges.

Not so much with the guardian though, for it felt a little bit frustrating at times

:eye:

I’m happy for you.

That’s what your words say, but they feel deceiving

Whaaaat you guys need to tune it again like we said you would have to every expansion after you brought it back I’m shocked… /S massive waste of dev time
