I think it’s hard to find other ways to motivate people to take on challenges when everyone playing the game knows that everything else will be trivialized in a few years.
As a serious question, has Blizzard made anything that’s been ‘retired’ available again through the Trading Post that was NOT a promotional/shop item?
Potentially some stuff that was removed as a consequence of content updates.
Certainly nothing that they’ve specifically stated to be time limited.
Not really true now with scaling tech. MT challenges now are mostly harder than they were at the end of legion for example
Not that I know of yet, but who knows what the future holds
My guess is that they’ll probably just stay the course with only reissuing old promotional stuff, or doing palette swaps instead if it was something obtained from a challenge/achievement. Even outside the Trading Post, they don’t really seem to bring back old prestige rewards in their original forms. Closest we came to that was getting five (?) ‘removed’ mounts on the BMAH I think? And maybe the response to that is why they rarely even go that route.
No, other passed sets are available that were not challenge content. The mage tower from day 1 was challenge content and said to be challenge content. The original rewards are not coming back, nor should they.
Yeah. Challenge type content is different. It’s designed for a specific snapshot in time in WOW (Talents, Gear, etc) so it makes sense that it goes away.
As an owner of werebear and ghostkitty, bring them back idc, also bring back challenge mode gear from MoP and WoD. Gatekeeping pixels is cringe.
Yeah, so challenging when it lasts for two years without receiving any difficulty buffs throughout
I wouldn’t mind them coming back, but at the very least I’d like them to be taken out of the barber shop for druids who don’t have them.
Says who? I think they should. Nothing was challenging by the end of legion.
The ones who like to gatekeep of course. They usually appear in these sorts of threads without fail.
Maybe a recolor, but not the originals.
Nah, the originals, give everyone a permanent chance to get them.
Or not because it’s okay to have a (very) small fraction of content be limited-time.
Especially from pve.
Nah, fomo needs to die.
I have these things, nothing should stop others from having them though, except their own willingness to get them.
No, if anything we need more of it. It’s cool to have seasonal incentives to play now rather than just remembering you can wait and do it later.
Also consolidates interest/activity.
FOMO is just a way to get people to spend money, it serves no other purpose.
You can have seasonal things (an event that happens every year isn’t fomo), but having one time things is stupid.
By…maintaining a subscription? To play the game?
Which you have to do regardless of when you want to work on something?
