It would still be limited to people who can complete an upscaled mage tower.
In other words, “It’s just a prank, bro.”
Nah. Leave the past in the past.
You got it, Netherlord Robgraves!
Edit for proper name, didn’t mean to disrespect
What’s even better is keeping them exclusive they they announced when they were attainable and ignoring the babies crying about not being able to get stuff because they didn’t earn it when it was live, that’s no one’s fault but that person and their problem to live with. I’ll be over here enjoying all the mage tower skins I earned in legion even more now though thanks to this thread.
Thanks Astodam!
Again it doesn’t matter.
You make it sound as if the imp scenario wasn’t bugged for an entire weekend not spawning imps.
Or if there weren’t periods in PvP where class X was fotm and so OP as to make it a joke.
Or buying carries.
Time-sensitive rewards are an excuse for MAUs. Fear of missing out, so you participate.
But if that’s enough to make you feel good about yourself, more power to you. It is just a game afterall.
I have them all and don’t care. I don’t care even if they showed up as 110 and got roflstomped by a 120. I don’t care if next xpac someone clears 5 mask vision at 70.
If they aren’t doing it when it’s relevant and want to rock a 2 year old mog as a “status?” symbol. … it doesn’t matter.
You should be moving on to whatever the most current status symbol is.
Nope. It’s okay for an MMO to have exclusive items that don’t come back. Especially ones you had to actually earn.
If you’re someone who doesn’t have it and your argument is the mage tower is super easy, then why didn’t you get it?
And this makes sense. But when you have multiple tints to a model, it seems odd to remove the model forever, when you could have tints be the thing that is specifically ‘time period earned’ (ok, that’s a weird phrase, but just roll with it).
People against removing content the way Blizzard is are just against the design to begin with, it doesn’t matter if it’s pitched by Blizzard from the get go as limited, they’d rather it not be.
Plus you’re ignoring the dynamic that not everyone is playing the game all the time, or have never even played to begin with. Some players coming to complain about the removal are here because they see someone in a MoP set or a MT appearance only to learn they can never get it.
Frost and Fire Mage are both amazing imo.
Arcane…yeah you have a point lols.
They did something in the time allotted and earned their limited reward. Period. End of story. That’s all there is to it.
Limited time stuff exists everywhere in the world. Learn to move on.
Like?
Can’t you resell most things that are no longer in production?
Can I resell my mogs? So i guess you mean “in other games” more so than “the world”.
I fully support that (I’m 110% anti-exclusive anything in any video game), but it’s unlikely to happen. Blizzard is very stubborn when it comes to their exclusive goodies, and some players will argue that their play experience is somehow enhanced if other people have no way of obtaining something they have (maybe it helps them feel like a unique, extra special snowflake?).
All that said, 99% of the mage tower appearances were ugly as fel imo, so even if they DID make them available somehow I wouldn’t be going after them.
All kinds of limited release apparel. Someone ain’t a sneakerhead.
I fully support new appearances being created for new solo challenges. Such things are trophies, markers of skill and effort, from a very specific time.
Having a mage tower skin, particularly if you got it early, is basically saying that you managed to overcome a specific series of challenges. These challenges were unique to the time with effects, skills, and balancing, that no longer exist. The reward is a snapshot of skill at a specific time. Giving it away to anyone outside of that time weakens it’s message.
Personally I think 5-Masking the visions should have unique cosmetic rewards beyond the masks and backpack. I do not support opening up prior limited run rewards such as the mage tower or challenge modes. It’s OK to not have them, even if you weren’t there to even try. It just means you should try extra hard the next time something like that comes along.
But you could resell if you wanted.
In fact that’s what happens most of the time. People wait in line for hours to sell it forward at a markup.
So you aren’t truly “locked out” as the consumer. Not for years on end when every single “limited” stock is sold/worn/destroyed. Not if you have enough money.
I’ll sell you my MT mogs if I could
sorry to go on a tangent here, but my DH I was disappointed with my hidden skin. It looked all cool and wicked on Wowhead: boney warglaives, tattered rags hanging off, but when I got it, the green glow looks like my kid took a green marker and drew an outline on my monitor, it really looks artificial and weird.
The people who did the mage tower and met the qualifications for reward are literally entitled, as in they earned them. No one is figuratively entitled to anything just because they paid the sub fee, ie. ‘I saw something someone else has that I can’t have and I want it.’ This is a fact of life.
