Mage Pruning is really, really, really bad

Happy for Sunfire mages, but is this with the bug on the spell power bonuses?

Honestly mate, the numbers can be tweaked though. Tuning comes and goes, but it is the core gameplay of some of the classes that have dramatically changed. For the better or worse, only time tells.

As for me, I’m not digging the pruning, but there will still be players that may flock to pvp because of the pruning. As for players like me who have seen mages since 06 go through changes, this is a big no for me. I’ll be doing far less PvP.

But it’s like I said, the pruning could bring fresh blood into the mode.

I’m all for the Mage defensive pruning because it’s taking away the last remaining excuse that bad melee players have for why they can’t climb.

It isn’t just the pruning, but consolidation of spells.

*Ice Nova or Cone of Cold.
* Use Ray of Frost to use Comet Storm.
* Winter’s Chill gone, so shattering mechanic feels weird.
* Frostfire Bolt merged into Glacial Spike, so you can’t save Glacial Spike for a priority target – and oddly, enough, you generate icicles in combat fairly rapidly, so you’ll start bgs and arenas with a fully charged Glacial Spike – this feels bad because it can be totem’d, spell reflected, absorbed, or whatever. The build and spend mechanic feels odd.

Also, my bulletin points feels off. It does the whole paragraph lol

You do realize this is happening across the board right? Does anyone actually look into anything before immediately crying?

Shamans are losing:

Thunderstorm (knock)

Stone Bulwark totem

Frost Shock will no longer be a part of the regular damage priority so no built in slows to the rotation

Lightning Lasso is being moved to pvp talents making it near impossible to pick up because shamans pvp talents are crowded with things that are too good and have to be taken

It isn’t just mage losing things. They are removing knocks and slows from just about every class. I think this is overall a good thing, but it depends on what they do with mobility. Shamans are losing a ton of ability to create distance (frost shock becoming a non damage global, lightning lasso being much harder to take, thunderstorm removed) and ability to survive (Stone bulwark removed) and I don’t see many changes to melee mobility which is concerning.
