Mage or Rogue 1.12

Which one you guys think is the best one at world pvp/ battlegrounds and pve.
I know mage is
Good at pvp, good at pve and good at open world
I heard Rogues are overpowered in pvp, good at pve or prob very good and good in open world.
Vanilla Version 1.12
Also can rogues beat every single class? or they have some hard counters?
also want to know which classes counter mage

Rogues are very good at 1v1, but if they can’t control their opponent they either die pretty easily or need to run away. Mages have a bit more options in group PvP between ranged, kiting, and things like Ice Block.

In general every class can beat every other class if you’re skilled enough or outgear them enough. There’s not really a hard counter in the sense of “even if you’re vastly superior, you’ll still probably lose”.

WPvP I’d give to rogues. Battlegrounds and raiding I’d give to mages.

At the end of the day though you should choose what you think you’ll have the most fun with. And that’s entirely subjective. You’ll have to figure it out on your own.

This pretty much. Both classes have a high skill ceiling in PvP too.

You really can’t go wrong with either though Rogues aren’t exactly over powered in max level, geared PvP. But yeah, both certainly work in raiding, battlegrounds, and world PvP.

I’d say Hunter is amazing for battlegrounds and world PvP, and even if they don’t top charts in raids people still have to bring them and there’s nothing they can do about it.

Depends on what play style you like. Mage is good a cc and keeping out of touch. Rogue is also good at cc and if played right they are untouchable. Mages in vanilla are very squishy.

Depends if a rogue gets the drop on their opponent or not and if they have CDs available or not. Obviously gear comes in to play as well. If a ranged catches a rogue out its bad news bears for the rogue. Warriors can counter rogues because of overpower.

If the rogue is good and can catch any class unaware I think they can take them down pretty fast. If the rogue is caught out of stealth and they don’t have vanish up then they probably aren’t gonna do so well.

In PVE rogues are top dps along with warriors.

I lost my faith in warriors as much as i wanted to play them. Best tank but can’t say best at 1v1 world pvp. Almost every post, most youtubes videos and reddit will say need pocket healers blabla, also having engineering and Free action potion doesn’t convince me. Plus I think the Warrior I was looking for was the one from Wrath of the lich king who can sustain itself and be a monster. So now am trying to decide Mague-Rogue

Mages are much better farmers than rogues. They can AoE farm pretty well and they level faster than rogues too. You get teleport and can make your own food and water which saves a lot of money.

Rogues just do a lot of dps and can avoid a lot of bad situations with stealth and we don’t die on wipes because of vanish.

Leveling as a subtly rogue was very fun as far as WPvP goes. Even when people get the drop on you, you’ll stand a better chance to escape and restart the fight on your terms. A rogue who doesn’t initiate the fight is in for an uphill climb, having access to prep and improved stealth will go a long ways.

Not that mages are any less a powerhouse, you’ll have a surprising amount of survivability as frost. Being able to teleport is so good too. I would just pick rogue, given the choice of the two, as I get more joy playing the opportunist.

In 1.12, mages (especially elemental) can beat rogues in a duel. A counter to mages are pvp specced locks. Hunters are tough as helpme too.

Mage can do some amazing 1 v. x when played well.

I am a classic experienced pvp’r. Got close to rank14 a couple times.

Rogue IS on the weaker side of PVP in 1.12. They’re not bad by any means but mage is most definitely better overall.

Rogues are better.

With stealth they control when and where to fight. If they feel overmatched they can just not attack. Rogues are a great class for world pvp and organized team PVP.

Mages are very squishy and have to sit and drink. Mages also have a lot of hard counters including rogues and warlocks. Mages tend to work best when they fight as part of a zerg. They aren’t particular good solo.

Back in Vanilla every rogues’ absolute favorite kill target were mages. Rogues would literally go around several other targets just so they could get to the “free kill” mage. Rogues universally considered mages to be their easiest prey. That tells you how squishy mages in Vanilla were.

Hunters HARD counter mages guy lol… Hunters pretty much counter everyone if the hunter is skilled. Locks are a tough matchup and require a lot of running like a little girl and hit and running but meh

In theory mages should be able to counter hunters by staying in their deadzone. However, in reality that was easier said that done. And my recollection was that usually the hunter killed the mage.

Spell pushback in Vanilla was really nasty. A hunter hitting you can really take down your damage output as a mage.

what about in the open world, i see a player as a mage and i want to kill him quick while he is not paying attention or doing a quest

Warlocks/shaman/hunters are probably the hardest match up for mages depends on how they are spect for warlock and shaman.

I think mage is stronger over all. Grounding totem is like equivalent to cloak of shadows except weaker. Cloak of shadows made rogues into merchants of death in bc.

Both are very good in bg and open world, rogues were better at getting the jump on players except in towns it was probably mage killing people super fast range wise in towns running from guards.

If a hunter knows your around then they’ll become a hard counter for rogues with flare sitting, and mages would do the same with their aoes and drink until they knock you out.
Humans were a hard counter for rogues stealth wise in the situation above.

Rogues should be able to beat every class, its very easy to walk onto someone with 10% health left and ambush dead.

I don’t think he was talking about being douchey and waiting for some guy to pull 3 mobs get to 10% health and cheap shot him.

Also i would like to know how the community or the server benefits from mages health food and mana food. Can I sell it? trading or maybe make some money for portals? am just repeating what i heard I havent ever played a mage before

Yes, you can sell mage food. But only in the trade window. You can’t put it up for sale on the auction house or mail it to anyone.
