im struggling against mage lock as war/dh tsg, it just feels like whenever we try to play the game we just lose and its the most tilting thing ever, what do we need to do to win the game and not get blasted into outer space?
Sit on the lock, don’t let him cast. Have your dh/dk cycle CC’s on the mage’s gpy cast, ranged kicked, stun, etc.
Line the Darksoul or lock him / use defensives through it. The amount of sustained damage war/dh or tsg has is insane. So long as you can stop / line the burst of those classes, you’ll eventually oom their healer / burn through their cds.
Also spites are very good vs lock. I saw melee cleave team using 3 spites, during darksoul they alternated putting them down so the warlock had to move, then put another down and so on. He didnt cast at all. In between ds they’d stack all three on a stun.
yeah we usually just go mage because our train of thought is, a mage casting is scarier than a lock casting unless its dark soul. Is that the issue?
what are u playing? war/dh or tsg
i play both, just whoever wants to q
They are both pretty scary. But mages can kite extremely well, your uptime will be much better on lock. TSG has a lot of stops on on mage with dk pet kick, stun, mind freeze, grip, aphyx. Gpy is a pretty long cast so outside combustion you can react and stop it especially if you are running rsham grounding/sheer or monk rop / incap.
War DH though, mage might be a good option cause dh is pretty much un-kiteable.
def need spites
you shouldn’t really win those match ups as either
if you’re super invested in winning you wanna play as little as possible until around 25~35% damp at which point the destro becomes a viable kill target
chasing the mage will only let the warlock gate keep your healers positioning giving him free fears and the mage will just force you into really awkward positioning
ideally you have a mw or rsham that can kinda bully the mage with shear grounding incap rop to stop pies when you hit the lock
you don’t get a lot of uptime and if you dont have incap/rop/stormbolt for the mage you just need to line again
you’lll likely never win before dampening and trying will only ever be frustrating
you’ll have more pressure as dh/arms but you have to run a little more
dk stops/sim on mage let you have more uptime on the lock but overall you’ll have a lot less pressure
thanks, i appreciate the replies, ill try out your inputs
