Mage Aggro Bug Mythic+

There seems to be a rather annoying bug with Mythic+ dungeon mobs not resetting properly on party wipe. I’ve had this happen in multiple runs, though it seems particularly endemic to both Atal’dazar and King’s Rest in particular.

The behavior is that, assuming a party wipes on a trash pull, the mobs will appear to reset back to position, but will automatically aggro on the mage (me) upon releasing back to the entrance. Depending on the instance/mob, some will either train their way through the instance back to the entrance, and others will just teleport to the entrance and start killing. It’s been happening for months, but it ruined enough runs for me recently that I just wanted to sanity check to see if others have the same mileage.

its related to dots on the mobs and when you release. so if you’re dead… and release… and respawn but the mobs have not returned to their initial point… your dot ticks puts you in combat across the instance. bandaid fix is to wait for the mobs to fully reset before you release.

Valid point on dots. Haven’t seen it each time, but it might be the Crucible of Flame’s DoT then. Otherwise, I’m running as Frost, so no other DoT’s available.

After much additional testing (and several additional ruined key runs), I can definitely say it’s not a DoT issue. Waiting until mobs have completely reset positions and have no debuffs/DoTs still did not prevent the teleportation or training behavior.

In case some additional reports help, I’ve also seen that this is apparently a “thing” that some Frost mages in particular know about.

Still broken in mythic+. On wipe after mobs reset. Frost mage releases and the mobs snap to mage. Mage dies again.
Pro tip for mages; Do not release on wipe in mythic+… Just wait for rez.

This issue has been happening to me for a few weeks now. I wish blizzard would address this asap.

The bug is simple to reproduce.
Go to any dungeon with a group. The frost mage does not do anything except get into combat. This means you cant blame any frost mage ability. The group intentionally wipes on the first trash pull. Everyone releases except for the mage. You will note the trash is fully reset until the mage releases.
Please Blizzard, quit ignoring this bug… If you are working on it great. Just give us a little blue text.
