Made a mistake with a spark (Reading impaired)

Hi,
I’ve been trying to get this issue resolved by the in game ticketing system but I feel like I’m not being heard.

Anyways; what happened was, After a few weeks of farming and playing I finally got enough sparks and excess gold to purchase my crafted weapon for my paladin which is something I had been working towards for as a major goal this expansion.

After I had finished raid time with the team I immediately spent some time gathering the materials and finding a blacksmith to craft my weapon for me - I didn’t rush this, I’m just fairly new to the crafting system (I started the game in Dragonflight but never really used the crafting system properly until now) and I am somewhat illiterate (I have trouble reading, I’m having my partner help me write this up) so it took some time.
I found a crafter to craft my weapon for me and they did it quickly and effectively and I was so happy to open my mail and equip my brand new weapon! Except, something was off - I had accidently commissioned the crafting of the one handed sword instead of the two handed sword.

My heart immediately sank, I had already been having such a terrible week and this was supposed to be the crowning happy moment except I had blundered and misread/misunderstood the weapon commission.

I immediately unequipped the weapon and opened a ticket to see if I could at least have the materials refunded because of my error, and yes, I do understand it’s my error, but even for someone like me that has trouble with literacy and comprehension, I feel this is probably a really easy mistake for most people to make and it’s a really big setback.

The GM response I had said they can’t do anything, even after explaining the situation, but I have found several posts both on this website and others saying that in the case of crafted equipment with sparks, that they can actually refund the materials. I’m not looking to get back the money I spent on the commission because I understand that it is now in someone else pocket and I am ok with that at least.

I’m really hoping I can get help, This has really really depressed me and I thought the game would support me in such a monumental but simple error but unfortunately so far, I’m not getting supported.

I really really love the game, and I want to continue to play it but this hurts so bad and will take me a long time to rebuild from it, I don’t know if I have the heart to continue without just a little support. Even if it was just the sparks and enchant crest refunded as they are time locked :frowning:

Please someone help :frowning:

Open another ticket.

There are no GM’s or developers here.

It’s a case by case basis. In your case, you made the mistake - so Blizzard really isn’t obliged to reverse anything for you.

Thanks for replying Nephe. I thought this was customer support section? Have I accidently posted in the wrong section? I am sorry if so. As mentioned though I have seen from other posts that people can get a material refund and i’m not sure why that would be case by case?

Yes, not to be confused with customer service. It’s more a player help player forum, and we generally point players in the right direction - as I have. Ticket is your only option.

What were the reason for the refund?
Was there a bug or other mitigating circumstance involved?
Was there a scam involved?

Oh I see. My partner and I saw other people here asking about in game support and saw blue posts regarding helping them. Like aforementioned I do have trouble with comprehension and may have misinterpreted what customer support means.

I opened another ticket as you suggested

The reason I would like a refund is because I crafted something due to a personal disability, which I thought I made clear in the original post but I do apologise if I didn’t.

This forum is an Information Desk to help people navigate the Support ticket system, knowledge base, explain policies, explain services, etc.

There are no GMs here, but the Forum Support Agents and regulars can do their best to help you figure out what steps you can take, if any, to resolve your unfortunate situation.

This forum is the perfect place to ask if there is anything more that can be done under the current policies and system. Hopefully a Blue can look into it for you and see if there are options - and if so which ticket path would be best to use.

If not, then it would be a very unfortunate lesson. About all I can think is to use the weapon with a different spec if you can.

We shall see what the Blues say when they get in.

I am afraid that fact does not have anything to do with policy. If there are options for you like a screen reader, having a partner double check, etc - you may want to look into those for the future. I know that for some having the information in audio form is much better for processing vs visual reading. I would also use a site like Wowhead with guides on it to really dig into the systems you want to learn.

This post makes me realize we need Fury Paladins.

Anyway, GMs often if not always take a stance of ‘it’s a player choice, therefore player responsibility’. They may make an exception for you given your condition but I can’t say for sure.

I don’t know if there are accessibility options for WoW to have audio feedback instead of purely visual. Don’t think Microsoft Narrator translate to anything outside of Windows…

I hope it works out for you though. Having messed up a crafting order before it feels bad wasting whole bunch of resources for something you don’t want or, worse, can’t use. If nothing else you have 1/2 of the weapons you need for Prot?

This is not something a GM will be able to help you with. You’re free to leave the ticket open of course, but that’s what they will tell you. This type of refund is not something that has ever been done for any reason.

They cannot just create items out of thin air. The item has to exist in the logs in order to be restored. This goes for crafting materials too. Items cannot be reverted to crafting materials either, that is also not an option.

Never say never

Blizzard has been known to make exceptions to general policy for super rare things - like crafting with time gated and limited mats, super rare drops, etc.

Usually that exception has a ton of behind the scenes decisions that go with it and can be granted once for the lifetime of a Battlenet account.

While it is unlikely that they can help the OP, it is best to let the Blues give the final “no” on this one.

There’s a blue post saying sparks are an exception to the crafting refund rule.
And since OP didn’t use the crafted item at all, and immediately opened a ticket, idk why they wouldnt do it.

Thanks everyone for your help and replies. I’m very saddened and disappointed to hear that I am very possibly out of luck for this one. I will wait to see if a blue poster will respond and have to accept whatever outcome happens. Also thanks Jacky for helping out, I appreciate it.
