Macro issue

Bought a new pc recently, was playing on a mac before and macro’s with shift modifiers no longer work on keys that are assigned to numpad.

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Prayer of Fortitude; Power Word: Fortitude

The abilities not modified work fine, and when I press shift it will show the shift modified ability but won’t cast it. Rebound it to binds to like P and L and it works fine. Still happens whether num lock is on or off. Haven’t used windows in a long time so I’m kinda clueless on what to change to fix it.

If you have spare spots on your action bar you can just bind modified keys to those spots

Eg I have 1,2,3,4 bound and in other slots shift+1,2,3,4 etc.

Not sure if this well be helpful or not, but here it goes:

Shift + # makes an action bar to be active; if you are using the keyboard, you can put those macros from 7 to 0 plus the two next keys you have on your keyboard.

Ctrl + # is for pets skills which go from 1 to 0 if I’m not mistaken, so you can put macros with that mod to the last two keys.

Alt + # doesn’t do anything, so almost all of my macros that I use in the main action bar, have [mod:alt] in them.

These mods should work fine if you mostly use the mouse though. Another alternative is to assign shortcuts manually, but that’s a hassle.

I hope it helps.

clear and rebind the keys. i know it’ll be a pain but thats how’d i’d addres this problem.

Make sure not to bind your F4 with this one.

Your guild will laugh at you.

Unbinding and rebinding didn’t work but rebinding to non numpad keybind’s worked, and using alt as the modifier also worked for numpad numbers, which I think will be easier for me to remember so I just went with that solution. Thanks for the help!

If you are using Windows, the Shift modifier makes it so the OS treats those numpad keys as if the numlock is not enabled. Shift-num0, for instance, will trigger the “Ins” (insert) key, while shift-num2 will act like the down arrow key. (Yay for backwards compatibility features dating back to like Windows 3.1 [earlier?].)

As you have done, the best solution is to not use the shift modifier with the numpad. Change the modifier, or change the key.

Gotcha, makes sense. Glad to have it figured out now, going from shift to alt’s not a big deal.
