Macro is life?

im logged in right now doing it. idk what you are talking about. =/
maybe your server has lag.

Ok so I am no Druid player but powershifting is swapping forms quickly? like breaking roots with travel and stuff then back to cat?

You can, but you would be 20% as powerful as you could be. If you want to hit 3 buttons to get from bear to healing something, that’s all you. If you want the power to design your own interface with the game, then macro.

No, my server doesn’t have lag. Maybe you’re just a slow clicker… Also, let’s see you powershift from cat to bear instantly (using mouse clicks), while navigating enemy players. Throw in a feral charge with your mouse while you’re at it…

I have my side mouse buttons (mmo mouse) bound to basic moves, based on forms. My shift macros are bound on my keyboard, because I move with my mouse (faster turning, reaction, better than keyboard turning).

Then I use simple macros like:
/cancelform
/cast Cat Form

These allow me to shift instantly without using my mouse. You’d get murdered pretty easily in PvP trying to mouse click shift.

Why do anything half way?

All clickers are slow

Just bind the different forms to your action bar. I don’t get what is so hard about using buttons, I can do that easily every time. who mouse clicks in 2019?!

macros are simply lazy imo.

ok yeah i have that one. its the same as the heal macro i posted just swap the heal for what ever form you want.

but that’s more utility shift than cat dps.

Macros are great and there are plenty of ways to get help with them without needing to learn how to write them yourself.

That said, you do not need to use them and you can go through Classic just fine without them.

Macros have been in every major mmo since Ultima Online. As part of the clients! They were always meant to be a way for players to combine skills for sort of a “combo move” as long as the client allowed the actions.

It’s lazy to combine cancel form and cast form to a single hot key? You’re either a horrible player, or on a PvE server, where 2-3 hotkeys instead of just 1 doesn’t mean death. On a PvP server, the amount of clicks can mean life or death fast. You die, you get camped. You can grave Rez, but you’re losing game time either way. I prefer to win or escape quickly.

Power shifting doesn’t mean cat DPS. I know, you’re thinking of energy refills. Power shift is shifting forms (any form) instantly to gain power or advantage in the situation. That’s why it’s called powershifting and not energy shifting.

Or I am able to push 1 of 22 different skills I can have mapped to my mouse plus the 1-5 key instantly.

We aren’t talking about a macro to hit a perfect 1 frame skill. things have cds and there is so much time to hit the skills you need without mouse clicking.

You can get by with 0 macros especially in PVE but there are some that will 100% make you a better player.

For example on Rogue you can make a macro to expose armor a target but not attack them. This is useful for when you have someone cc’d and are planning on reopening on them after the DRs reset and you need the extra damage.

Without a macro pressing expose would just attack the target and remove the CC.

There are a million little micro ‘what if’ scenarios for every class.

I think people confuse macros with scripts. Scripts are run to do things for you, using a third party application. They do scripted activities and automate gameplay. Those are bannable as they should be.

Macros are built into the game, by just about every mmo designer, because they recognize the limits of their interfaces. So they give you the option to string together a few approved commands, in order to make productivity and performance more streamlined.

My shift macros are just cancel form, cast form, for each form. This way when I hit the hot key of the chosen form, it’s instant.

with out the macro as well as not mouse click, in order to key bind click you would have to hit the same form you were in to casual it and then click another form.

Combined with a mouse click you could hit the key bind and click the active form to leave it quickly.

macro, just know what form you want to go when you want to go.
plus, a macro is placed on the action bar. so… not using macros is lazy imo.

Macros let you smash a button to do a couple things in succession without having to push each button individually.

That’s about all a macro really does.

I didn’t even catch that he made both of those statements in the same thread lol…

I have both skills and macros bound to my MMO mouse and my keyboard. It’s not like there’s no button pressing involved.

Macros allow you to do things that the game client should have built in but doesn’t.

They remove tedium and clunkieness from the game.

Others above have posted examples.

Say “In Vas Mia”
Cast Energy Bolt

I’ve only used maybe three macros ever as a warrior since 2006, one of them was a weapon swap macro. I use Clique for anything mouseover otherwise everything is keybound. I also use Logitech keyboard and mouse so I have a lot of buttons. I’ve done progression raiding with no problems.
