Mythic+ is a carryover from an outdated game format and a period in our lives that no longer exists. I wonder what small percentage of players still want to speed-run anything. Removing the timer would solve 99% of the issues. Raids aren’t timed; the challenge lies in the content and the experience itself.
I want to hang out with my friends and tackle something new or challenging. I want the experience, not the artificial “challenge” created by lazy gatekeeping.
If Blizzard truly wants to make dungeons challenging, they need to stop letting add-ons run the experience. The World First race was a joke—it feels like Blizzard is only providing the framework of a game and relying on add-ons to deliver a cohesive experience. Add-ons are fixing the UI, compensating for poor class balancing, and modernizing the game with better fight mechanics, visual/audio cues, and interactions.
It’s absurd that we need add-ons just to get decent filters for looking for groups and guilds, which are essential tools for end-game content. But hey, at least we got a new character selection screen—one that’s largely a downgrade from the previous version!
I’m ok with the timer but I hate having to memorize routes to hit mob %. The in-game UI needs to do a better job of tracking progress or they just need to make full clears = 100% and then adjust the mob count accordingly.
Yeah, they would be dungeons again, lol. The content we had for over a decade.
Blizzard needs to abandon this 3 pillar nonsense and just go back to balancing the game around raids and group PVP. Trying to turn dungeons into content that is equiliviant to raiding is just dumb.
You can’t balance around this content, and they can’t get the reward structure right. It has been horrible for the game since Legion.
I agree with everything in the first part of your post about M+ and the timer. We simply don’t NEED a timer in order to have challenging 5-man content, and having that be the focus is absolutely the cause of countless issues and mass toxicity.
But this is where I think you went off the rails. WoW has had addons since Vanilla. Being able to customize your UI and create things like weakauras has been one of the things that has made WoW great. I REALLY don’t want to be forced to use a generic one-size-fits-all UI.
The debate over them also goes back to Vanilla, though, when the game is designed around the assumption players are running add-ons. The game gets more difficult, more add-ons are developed to make it easier, and on the cycle goes.
I gave up fighting that fight ages ago and just acknowledged I’m not the target audience for 90% of end-game stuff.
Wow what a shock the bad player wanting the timer gone has never done current content mega dungeon with no timer or even mythic zeros!!! Wow what a shock def the timer is the issue lmao
Raid bosses are though, and if you fail to defeat a raid boss it doesn’t let you kill it anyway and get the loot. It just kills you and resets to full hp.
They should slap a timer on the entire raid. Timers should be everywhere, because that is the only way that players feel they can be challenged. They should have a timer even to get your mail, and to use the auction house as well. They could even have a login timer, if you don’t click the login button fast enough, you have to retry again.
