I could see that… I don’t M+ too much …but I see the masses of M+ premade ques… cheers. ! I could see how you truly help to tune character play.
Those dungeons were, imo, garbage with Cata being the worst. They were made during a time that community involvement was at it’s peak, and that’s not the case anymore. I don’t want to be in dungeons for hours (vanilla) or run a normal dungeon that takes 30+ minutes every time I get into it. I’d rather just run M+. that’s just me
We aren’t.
Like what? What suggestions do you have? I didn’t see you post any in your initial post (outside of new dungeons which, to your point, will undoubtedly need some sort of fixing).
Again, what content creation, outside of :
If you don’t like M+ that’s fine, you’re entitled to your opinion, but it seems that your argument against M+/way to fix M+, for the sake of content, is to just release more dungeons in it’s place.
I personally believe M+ adds another layer of potential push content for those who don’t want to raid. There has been absolutely no reason to raid mythic content throughout the entirety of Dragonflight, with the exception of the feat of strength achieve or some sense of fulfillment by being a cutting edge raider.
While M+ may sound the same as mythic raiding to most, it’s far more convenient to gather and organize 5 people to get on for a couple of hours a day and push some 20+ keys for io (and maybe the title) than it is to organize and coordinate 20 people outside and inside of raid.
Summary: I really think M+ was meant to be an alternative to other higher end PvE content.
I think M+ is a ‘challenge’ even to the self to get better and better with others in the same mindset. I get it totally, it is stretching game play to the inth degree and even helps Blizz to see the how to code. Why wouldn’t Blizz see the importance of this?
I have a feeling ‘military intelligence’ is all over this too… just my opinion!
Thats not true. People were very skilled. Today we have more resources, more experience, better VoIP, and way better fps.
just speaking from my own experience. my friends list was pretty sparse until i got into m+, now i’ve got 60+ people on at all times.
I’m not a big fan of dungeon speedruns and the easily foreseeable impact that will have on player behavior, but at least they took steps to make M+ easier to get into. I don’t like eating poop sandwiches but at least there’s not as much poop and there is some flavoring on it.
Good thing WoW PvP is there. Something about WoW button presses just make its PvP feel better than any mmo I’ve played.
It’s still the best PvP MMO, but as someone who has played it for several years, I just get apathetic because class balance is still awful, and we never get anything really new like new battlegrounds.
PvE is straight-up unbearable now, I feel like I enjoy Classic’s PvE better. There was a ceiling to how fun it would get, and now I feel like it’s more stress than fun, there’s a balance.
Some folks still enjoy it, but I feel PvE participation has still fallen.
Something about an untimed dungeon crawl is infinitely more appealing to me than M+ with affixes.
I’m really hoping another PvP MMO comes along, maybe Riot’s.
In the early days of WoW, PvP used to receive the same amount of attention PvE did.
Whole zones were dedicated to it, often with raids in them to encourage cross-pollination, like Wintergrasp and Tol’barad.
I never said you couldn’t do that.
Who thought taking one the major RP elements of the game and turning into a race would be a bad idea…and divide the community…
Hello, I see you replied to the thread. Haha, not many considering Mythic+ is the only thing keeping this game alive at this point!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
I think a fun and interesting expansion overall is what is keeping the game alive. To assume one part of the game that is played by less than half the player base is the reason it is alive. Well is insulting to raiders, casuals, pvpers, twinkers, alt runners, etc etc.
Yes it did, who knew having people go through competitive mousewheels would have an adverse effect on the game. There are more people playing classic and that’s hilarious to me because alot of things missing in retail are there in classic. They say it kept retail alive, no, it kept a niche of players playing, there is more to an MMO besides dungeon spamming. How many of those players are leveling? Raiding? Farming? Those numbers are dwindling.
You can’t maintain a game on niche players alone when its a MMO.
Social interactions are natural, not forced, people are more willing to help eachother and cooperate in activities for a common goal, not analyze your IO metrics and the such, I’m sure its done at the raiding level but certainly not to the annoying degree that is in retail.
Either way, WoW will either reinvent itself or start from scratch, don’t think the esports development perspective will last in the near future.
Yea no thanks spending an hour in a dungeon. CC swpare, Shape Trangle, ice trap purple and make sure they are CC or we wipe. No thanks. Too much work to call it fun.
Bet you also like back in the day where if you want to do each dungeons you have to farm rep. Enough rep gets you the heroic version and if you want to raid well more rep to farm to that raid.
Sure classic had a lot of dungeons but how many were really relevant for lvl60s
Dire maul ogre side
Strat ud and crusader
Scholomance
Brd ( like one half of it )
And …?
You realize they made the heroic system to scale up all dungeons into usable content in their first expansion because they realized non raiders and raises alike has nothing else to run besides 4 dungeons once they reached 60?
Rehashed content will always be required.
Mythic plus adds balance and continuity past gear and scores and climbs into bragging rights for that reason.
You want things like back in classic but you conveniently forget that classic evolved to combat the same things you claim are killing the game.
Lack of things to do constantly.
You also forget the gear disparity between normal content and raids. Classic 90% of the player base was running in blues and greens and maybe a purple if they were lucky enough or saved enough gold. Didn’t hold unto to snuff in any content against others that raided.you were literally a third class citizen reduced to harvesting. Dailies more blues and generic dungeons.
Mythic plus gives access to this without putting a foot into raids and beyond.
Well said!! This post will be lost on most of the M+ defenders that inhabit these forums.
More people are playing classic at the moment? Can you cite your sources please?
Can disregard I found a source that supports that statement. Though it was only about 250k player difference.
We’re at the end of a patch and the next one is probably around a month away. Retail population should increase as people come back.
Way to Necro a lousy thread. If you don’t like M+, don’t play that portion of the game. But what gives you the right to try and ruin it for those that do?
not everything you dislike or find too challenging is an “esport”
I know this thread is from a few months ago, but it’s very likely that raiding is being propped up by M+ at this point. Gear acquisition from only raiding is simply too slow.
Latecomer here. Full disclosure - I don’t dungeon anymore and really haven’t since early WoD because I have been guildless and find the anti-social behavior in LFD offputting.
As an outsider looking in for the past decade, what is very clear to me is stuff like RBG and Mythic - however good intentioned they were - have really only segregated the playerbase into ever-smaller groups who don’t play together. That is what is killing Wow.
Maybe there is no correlation to the fact Wow was at its peak of 12M players and full servers when there was one tier of raids and heroics were for killing time and maxing out currencies or rep, and we all played together, generally speaking. But…I believe there is a strong correlation to be made.
Blizzard should be actively finding ways to bring players together instead of introducing more and more ways to isolate them from each other.
