Mirrors my thoughts on this, from another thread:
I think with the squish, the progress is less granular and players at a range of skill levels will feel like they top out much sooner than they used to.
Instead of being able to clear say, +2 through +15, which is 13 granular steps of difficulty, you get +2 through +4.
There are less steps to improve upon because that gradual mobility is shortened, and the player can feel like they have achieved less.
With the old system, there were still higher level mythic plus for high end players, all the squish has done is reduced the scaling for casual players
You’re right, it’s not middle school, it’s just a game. Games should be fun and satisfying, not frustratingly difficult and providing the feeling of stunted upward mobility.
Real life is already awash with that crap lmao
Thanks for ignoring my first comment.
The one you quoted was in response to you telling people that they should dump their friends when they outlive their usefulness.
If you bothered to read even the comment that you quoted, you would see it still reinforces what I originally said, that it should feel satisfying and not just be frustratingly difficult.
For players who struggle with going from 2 to 3 in the new system, they cannot feel any sense of accomplishment and will feel frustrated by th…
Basically scaling is gone for the lower levels. They hit a brick wall with zero progress and they give up. The loss of gradual difficulty scaling created an impasse.
Having more lower level tiers does not affect high end players, but it sure seems they feel good about themselves when lower tier players can’t advance.
