Here’s a controversial subject that I’m sure will get a lot of hate, but the fact is… gearing in Mythic+ Dungeons is way overtuned. Blizz likes to say there are multiple paths to gearing, but in reality, unless you’re in the 1% who are full clearing Mythic Raid or in the 1% who obtain Gladiator rank, there is only one route to getting gear. You just run Dungeon keys. The ilvl that drops from the weekly Vault for doing M+'s has everyone outgearing Heroic Raid long before they’ve completed it. This is making Raiding become obsolete & will have players do nothing but run the same 10 Dungeons over & over throughout the entire xpac.
I don’t disagree that it’s a very lucrative and virtually forced way of gearing. And, there’s room for argument to improve gearing for other avenues in the game.
But, if M+ is hurting the raiding scene that much, then I suppose more people raid primarily for gear than they care to admit. Contrary to the common refrain I see on General Discussion.
A lot of players Raid because they enjoy it & for most the Trinkets are still BiS, but as far as being rewarded with upgrades to your gear, the Raid drops become obsolete very fast when compared to M+ gear. For a lot of players, once there’s no possibility to improve your character through Raiding, they lose interest. It’s just far more efficient to get high ilvl gear through the Dungeon system than any other route. This seems unbalanced, especially with how much work Blizz puts in to creating new Raids.
M+ gearing is OP if you have four months to wait, I suppose.
i’d say most of us raid just for the comaraderie.
Gear is a means to an end and not a sole reward.
People need to stop caring how fast people gear and focus on actually doing content.
It takes under a day of casual play to hit 1800 RBG’s, which is full 220 equipment. Most of which is BIS options for classes that prioritize Versatility.
It takes how many months to hit 220+ from Great Vault rewards, at minimum?
Agreed. It’s just a shame that no one benefits from it by the time they’re half way through & there are many who stop once there’s no upgrades left to be had.
It sounds as if OP thinks that 100% of gear from the vault is unique and an upgrade. And that no one has finished heroic yet. Hello?
If you have a solid group of experienced PvP’ers to play with. For many of us 1800 rating in PvP is not that easy. As far as hitting 220 gear from the weekly Vault for doing M+'s… it’s fast!
We did finish Heroic for the AOTC achievement & for the fun of seeing & completing the content. That doesn’t change the fact that the M+ gearing system is way OP in comparison.
See, yeah I enjoy raiding. I get the appeal for some of m+ but if I honestly wanted that type of content I’d play Diablo (at least thats for me, personally) I think a lot of people are looking at it with the game having two types of end game gearing PVP/PVE. I think it’s more like we’ve got 3. PVP, m+, and raiding. Gearing through PVP and M+ is a lot faster than raiding - which honestly doesn’t bother me but when you’ve got a faster way of acquiring gear people are going to flock to those naturally and that just muddies the water.
Should raiders feel forced to do M+ to gear cause it will make raiding easier? Should someone feel like they’re punishing their raid team cause they don’t want to partake in m+?
While I kinda feel like haivng two different pve gear types sounds silly, it almost feels like we need it.
Most mythics are pug. Good luck with bad groups and people leaving that ruin your key.
Not everyone wants to raid or wants to commit their time to raiding only. Mythics were introduced for casual players who want an alternative way to gear.
Are you one of those people that cry life isn’t fair?
Compared to.other systems.in my experiences it was much slower to m+ loot gear. Given PvPing can get you a full 220 set in a week, where as M+ is more random.
You can pretty effortlessly yolo pug to 1600. Maybe a day of grinding 2’s/3’s wins for full conq gear to 213. Then play casually 100 rating above your CR to get enormous gains per win, and no loss when you lose.
1800 is not only obtainable, it’s laughable for how easy 220 gear is to get from it.
Blizzard actually needs to make multiple paths to gear. This is the ultimate solution.
It doesn’t help that raiding itself is the worst path to gearing up for raiding.
14 weeks of clearing 14-15s and getting perfect item options that always include an upgrade to what you already have.
That’s not exactly a broken system. It looks OP when you’re 3 months in, but that still assumes that you can clear that level of dungeon right from the start. (Which you can’t)
I see what you’re saying but it’s more than that, takes a while to grind the conquest and honor to actually upgrade the gear.
M+ gearing is, like everything in this expansion, ridiculously stingy.
Is it better than raid? Yes, because raiding is even more stingy.
Vault rewards from raiding remain at the same ilevel as the original drops, whilst vault rewards from m+ are 10 ilevels higher than drops in the instance.
Buff raid rewards, basically (yes, again).
Yeah but I have to be good to pvp. I can be bad and time 15s
