M+ brings the worst out in people

Returning player. Just made a new account because I’m getting bored.

So I deleted my old account and had a break for 6 months. So I’ve just started up a new account. Over my break, I come to realization that mythic content actually brings the worst out in people. Here me out:

People are so focused on their raider io stats, that the game has turned from a cooperative MMO to something I can’t even explain. I’ve played on and off since Vanilla. I remember the most fun social cooperative MMO I’ve ever played in my life. The game is a bickering space. It’s nothing but complaining all the time.

It’s not the people that play this game that are at fault, it’s the flawed game design. I know why people don’t play PUG’s… it’s brutal lol.

It forces misery, when games should actually be joyess and fun.

M+ was fun when it first come out. That’s because we all were still cooperative. Now it has got to a point where it’s just plain nasty. Why the hell has blizzard kept this M+ going for so long. Dungeons were designed to be a stepping stone into raiding. What blizzard has done over the years is actually try and enter the esports scene.

Does anyone here actually watch M+ esports?

If you just starting to do m+ , i suggest you do delves and wait till next season

I miss the days… I remember picking this game up after dad bought it. I was like 16 years old. We both joined a guild and we tried to get through various raids: MC, AQ etc. It was so good. Socially great. No angry people. Everyone just working together.

Now it’s like a whining echo chamber. It’s where people come to release their anger from their lives. I don’t blame them though, the world is pretty messed up atm lol.

Nah, I haven’t started yet mate. I was just pondering over my break.

20 years happened.

All the friendly folk mostly don’t do that content anymore, or just quit entirely.

Most people who stuck around are mean and bitter lol.

Go log into Classic on a fresh character- completely different atmosphere. Feels more like what an MMO is supposed to be.

I didn’t get that in Wrath. I was a guild master in Wrath and it was pretty chill. But I have to admit, it was definitely worse than vanilla and bc in terms of anger.

I didnt have any problems in Wrath except this guy was freaking out about me rolling on pvp gear cuz i had like 1600 rating and he was 2k lol

Random BGs have always been worse than anything else in WoW by a country mile in my experience.

Iv been on classic for some time, and people there are worst than retail

I guess it depends on where you are lol, PvP realm? I’ve run into my fair share.

Idk, chat was alive in the zones, people publicly asking for help and stuff, wish Retail still had that ‘feel’.

That’s so sad :disappointed_relieved:

I mean, it happens lol.

I remember getting bullied in BC by some guy lol. Me being young and lippy, it didn’t end well. We ended becoming friends though. It’s just a completely different World (of warcraft) that we live in now.

I haven’t done BGs for so long. Last time I got serious was probably Cata.

Maybe it’s a real world issue…

WotLK had the most intense gear checks from pugs.

I regularly saw people hanging out at training dummies spamming their skada/recount/whatever was used to log dps and insulting others at the training dummies

being in a guild during WotLK vs solo now will of course give you greatly different results.

be in an active guild now and you will see almost no negative actions. I’ve probably had 2 “toxic” interactions in m+ since DF launched.

Thing is people always think others are bots and they harass you if they see you made alot of gold

Yeah Cata was horrible at the start until they toned dungeons down. Then it got really fun. But I didn’t much bad behavior because I wasn’t pugging much back then.

I just feel that’s always the case.

any expansion, you pug you hit more negative interactions. you have a community, you see fewer.

It’s designed that way. They could make it better but they don’t. Remove timers, incentivise completions over leaving. (Then you wouldn’t have to punish leaving.)

Removing timers would be good. Then make M+ limitless. I just don’t want M+ to be the standard for entry into raiding. It’s just so obnoxious now.
