I’m currently level 65 leveling my devastation evoker and I like the class theme but there are some serious problems that I naver experienced with any other class. First it’s like we have 0 survability like I know it can be a glass cannon class but in dungeons it’s literally hell mobs hit really hard. Now I think I have very low dps st AOE is fine I guess. Compared to other classes, single target DPS is very low, like even if the rotation is exectued perfectly other classes get higher dps for some reason idk. I think the whole class needs buff or tunning because I think we have more cons than pros…
These are my fixes with it.
While I feel like we have limited control on our dps I think tuning can address that but survivability, awkward rotation and build paths can only be fixed through blizz making changes.
I made some suggestions take a look! My thoughts on improving Evoker
Yes! Visage is a nice concept but in reality is useless I don’t like to be changing form a lot besides the healing is not like impressive. Very nice list I definetly agree!! Like I want to main my evoker but with all these cons I want to go back to my demo warlock t.t
Wait until you hit cap. Devastation has some very, very good burst during dragon rage and when played right you can have close to a 50% uptime on dragonrage.
Where the class struggles, in my opinion is how squishy it is and, oddly, it’s mobility. 25 yard range is close enough that you end up at risk for a lot of melee mechanics. For mobility, the class has to move so much to stay in range, and has to be rooted to the floor so often to use empower skills or to disintegrate that hover doesn’t cut it half the time. Compound that with how many mechanics that there where the boss either remains out of range, or you have to move out of range, that feel like you’re constantly on the move. Our active mitigation is pretty decent, but there’s not enough of it to compensate for the amount of risk there is where being close to the boss without the superior mobility melee classes generally have.
It really feels like devastation has most, if not all, the liabilities of melee with very few perks of being a squishy ranged class.
I’m not going to speak to the sqhish of devastation as I leveled preservation, but I will say that I’m 95% of evokers aren’t making proper use of their defensive buttons.
We have three of them, and one can be on as low as a minute cooldown timer.
Single target dps is also low because the spells take to long to come off cooldown. Add to that that Blizz has increased the aggro radius to about a mile, it’s even more likely to get swarmed by multiple mobs and get beaten on while you are waiting for something to be available. I have never died as many times, trying to fight with the various Developer dumpster fire “abilities”, as I have in this character in the 18 years I’ve been playing WoW. Quests that my other characters in DF proceed easily through have become a frustrating slog of corpse runs or painstaking delays as I try to avoid the situations that my BM Hunter, Demon Hunter, and Warrior can just blast through.
Blizzard, you’ve screwed this class up. It’s the Warcraft equivalent of the duckbilled platypus, neither fish, nor fowl, nor effective.
