I just build a new PC specs:
Ryzen 9 5900x
Msi trio 3080
32gb ram 3600
970 samsgung evo (nvme)
For some reason example when setting my graphics to half everything at (5) my fps sit around 130fps i would think my pc would be pulling much more fps at those graphics settings.
All my drivers are up to date atleast gpu and bios update and regular drivers.
Sitting in a capital city at 130fps might be good depending on other things going on.
With a 5600x, el cheapo sub par RAM on a VEGA 64 I was getting 200fps+ in some areas but getting like 150fps in capital cities. Settings at 10 at 1440p.
There’s some minutiae when it comes to interpreting the CPU usage, and the % usage per thread bounces around a lot, so it’s hard to see in a snapshot. But in some busier areas or areas with actual players, the game engine just get slow.
Your CPU is a little faster than mine at gaming, so you should get better results when there’s people around, but the game itself seems to kind of just take a dump when there’s people.
In the Garrison area, where there is nobody, you can see the GPU gets to stretch it legs, remain at 100% usage, and go 330-340w.
If you’ve recently changed your Hardware check your settings in the game. It sounds like you have Ray tracing on. Go to the graphics menu under interface and then to Advanced. Disable Ray tracing in your FPS will Skyrocket
To be honest having dealt with the 5800x personally? When you will notice the difference the most is when you do anything on your computer other than game. In World of Warcraft you’ll probably gain 20 frames per second.
The 5800x felt identical to my i9 10900k. With that said the 5900x blows ithe 10900k out of the water and every way shape or form. Originally it was beating my 5900x in premiere only. But ever since I enabled GPU enhancement? The 5900x is faster there too.
The 5800x is hands-down the best processor for a pure gamer. In everyday use it actually felt faster than the 10900k and that’s probably because it destroys it in single core performance. I’m multi-core performance it was only 500 points l behind the 10900k a core cpu! Which is nuts! If you upgrade to it your computer will feel night and day More responsive. You just need to get used to The Thermals due to the boosting technology and it’s hard to get used to coming from Intel.
I’m trying to understand why fps is low when seemingly nothing is being maxed.
I disabled Meltdown/Spectre on inspectre to see if it made a difference, and it did it SotTR (from 132fps to 140fps, a gain of about 6%) but it was difficult to see in WoW because there’s always different points of people between restarts vs SotTR static benchmark.
There’s also that I’ve updated my BIOS so iay have lost performance that is no longer recoverable (CPU render in SotTR used to be higher before I updated)
I’m going to say it’s windows task scheduler and intel bring crappy and also security patches
SL is weird dude. This started when the xpax droped. I can stand next to Flight Master with no one at him with 120fps I literally walk to feet and shoot up to 190+ then walk back to the Flight master? Im back down to 120fps I am not sure whats going on myself.
I agree there is an issue I just dont think its with our machines.
PS> Upgrade to the 5800x. I may actually sell this 5900x and go back to the 5800x luckily I still have my 5800x and didnt sell it yet. 5800x boost better in gaming. If you want to All core manually OC it? It OC better and its just 1 CCX instead of 2. Its def the better gaming CPU.
Havent decided yet what I am doing. Torn still. Gonna decide this weekend
130 is low FPS? lol.
I think it’s fine and normal it’s at 130 with that hardware, maxed + RT high
Especially if you’re using a 1440p or 4k monitor, I don’t see why you’d expect 200+ FPS or something… is 60-100 not enough for you? xD maybe if you lowered the settings a bit, you can get a higher fps… but I don’t see why you would wanna do that…
Well obviously it’s likely because Raytracing on high is enabled, raytracing tends to eat up resources lowering fps, even though I personally can’t notice a difference with or without it, it’s gotta be the reason if it went that much lower on this expansion… plus a bit more code/script with new features probably.
No that’s not it. Something changed in shadowlands to affect frame rates. The frame rates changed drastically the day the actual expansion with live not when the pre patch dropped. Im sure Salhezar would agree with me that this is when it started
