Low fps with good machine

I can’t say it was better before because I wasn’t really paying attention tbh.

I only looked because of the new GPU

well for someone with 1440p ultrawide 100hz monitor, the game looks the same smoothness, not sure how much fps I would’ve had with higher refresh rate before or now but… I just don’t see 130fps as an issue, even if this expansion dropped 30+ fps… It could be more script in the new expansion that makes things work harder… Little things like that little node where the quest location is, and how we can now put addons without having to restart the client, and other new features… just may be why it’s like that.

edit: oh and my gpu is a 2070 super xD

Well at that refresh 130fps is gonna look the same anyway.

It’s far from a performance “issue” for most users, even I can’t really tell between 110fps-144fps (my refresh rate).

Just weird why its happening. Maybe network?

I think I was wrong. I am CPU bottlenecked.

In this image, CPU7 is totally maxed out per windows, and in HWInfo64, Core3T0 is 27.3% and Core3T1 is 79.7 which is well over 100% (polling times prob. make this not 100% reporting) but suffice to say one core is getting hammered here more than likely.

A faster chip in single core performance would get me better results.

Get the 5800x. They are all over eBay roughly fifty bucks more than MSRP.

And if you want a good MSI Motherboard that won’t break your wallet get the MSI x570 tomahawk or if you want to spend a little more and get something that’s going to last you a long time MSI Ace x570 is an absolutely phenomenal motherboard since you’re an MSI fan. Between the two I would highly recommend the MSI Ace.

I won’t even bother recommending Asus boards to you since I know you’re more of an MSI fan

The ryzen 7 5800x has better single-core performance than the 10900k and sadly is almost on par with it in multi-core

Lol, bottlenecking seems like a funny problem to have xD poor thing can’t keep up with what the gpu can do. Well it’s a good thing CPU’s aren’t being scalped, plenty of good choices… I’d just hate to get a new motherboard or even just removing the cooling on top of it and reapplying paste… I always get nervous with the amount of thermal paste that should be put in.

Are you insane? CPUs are being scalped just as bad if not worse than gpus.

All of them are being sold at Double the price except for the 5800x since really only gamers are interested in that chip it’s got a smaller audience.

5600x or 5900x or 5950x ? Forget about it

It’s just further proof that the game is still heavily tied to single core performance. Just look at the utilization graph.

One core maxed out, the rest are just chilling.

A good friend of mine named Kagthul used to argue that this game is so tied to single threaded performance and there’s nothing you can do about it, and that even with a 10,000ghz CPU from the future it still would get bad performance when a bunch of players are nearby.

I think he’s still right.

Since you really wanted to wait to upgrade honestly the cheapest option for you since you just spent all that money on your 3080?

I9 9900k. It will hold you over till the end of next year when you wanted to upgrade anyway and I believe it’s the same socket as your current processor LGA 1150? So all you should have to do is buy the CPU

9900k is $325 atm

It won’t make WoW better, though. Still tied to that single core performance, which if at 5ghz, would be nearly identical.

Here’s in contrast CP2077 usage:

You’ll notice in contrast much more even usage of CPU, and more importantly maxed out GPU, and still has CPU headroom.

Yeah dude sorry to say it but if you want better single core performance the only way to get it would be to move to one of the new 5000 series.

It’s why I did it

Lol seriously? well my bad for spreading misinformation sorta, I always see that next gen consoles, and GPU’s are the only things getting scalped… I didn’t think CPU’s would cause not as many people need to buy them, and there’s so many good models out there… Man, how the hell can a scalper profit from buying all the stock and trying to sell it overpriced… I don’t believe they actually make a lot of money doing this, seems like they’re losing, especially when new better models come out every few months, how rich are these scum? they could be doing so much better with that money than being pieces of s making the world a worse place.

Oh yeah I know. Just don’t think it’s worth it at this point.

It would basically be literally just for WoW, which still has beyond passible performance (are we really complaining about 100+fps?). In AAA games, even an older competent 6 core CPU as we see above is plenty.

Yes seriously. Newegg reported that they did a drop of about 2,000 CPUs yesterday and they sold out in 30 seconds.

Intel is the only thing you can buy at the moment AMD is unbuyable unless you go to eBay

These companies need to stop selling to what are obviously bots… I’m sure all these thousands of bots have the same address being shipped to, they could just block them from trying to purchase… Next thing you know, game developers are going to complain not enough people are playing their games, because gamers can’t afford better hardware to play their games, cause these scalpers are taking everything… To me it sounds like they have enough money to do a lot of good, but instead do this crap for god knows what reason… the profit can’t be that good.

There’s really no way to prevent Bots. The best way to cut off Bots is to cut off their Outlet to resell their product.

You can do this two ways.

  • you band together with other companies to work with eBay to make sure all scalping sales get automatically cancelled
  • Nvidia Intel and AMD all band together and work with lawmakers to make scalping Hardware illegal just like scalping tickets is

I’m building an Intel rig with a I9-10850k I picked up for cheap a few days ago. AMD is way over priced right now even if it is good. That chip is more than enough for me.

Companies don’t care. Their product is sold regardless…plus there are enough people with disposable income right now that stuff is selling.

Lots of bored rich people out there who can’t travel right now.

Even if they did that, the stock would still sell out nearly immediately.

  1. Both Intel and AMD users have been waiting an eternity for actual real life gains over previous generations. intel users are even now still riding on refined tech from 2016. AMD has been riding Intel’s coattails since the Core series launched in 2012, and even after 3 successful generations of Ryzen, this is the first time they’ve managed to actually beat Intel at gaming. You have hype for these chips from both camps.

  2. Neither AMD nor retailers care who they sell to, only that they get sold.

I will not argue that it is but I will tell you that I definitely noticed a difference when I ditched the i9 10900k for the Ryzen 7 5800x. One of the main places I’ve noticed a difference was single core performanc. To those who claim it’s not noticeable I tell them one thing. Try it.

I got a 5900x instead. I was going to sell my 5800x however I gave it to a co-worker who was on the 10900k. He didn’t think there would be a noticeable difference either. After one day he called me saying that he wants to keep the processor and will pay me for it and that he practically wants to throw his 10900k into the trash.

The single core performance difference between the two is noticeable. Especially if you do a lot of Photoshop work like he does and gaming
