Low FPS in the new raid but low GPU usage?

Try turning off nvidia gamebar settings.

Never had that turned on in the first place.

So does any of you use the game in 1080p?

Because if the answer is yes, your workload is in your CPU. Try cranking the render resolution all the way up to 150%.

Doing that fixed my low FPS and LAG spikes, however it may get your pc to froze in burst times if you are in a raid with more than 30 people and your GPU can’t handle it.

It’s the game optimization. I have a similar RIG as the OP and my FPS get to 20-30 in the raid, but both the CPU and GPU usage don’t go over 30%.

My wife does but I play on a 1440p monitor. That’s an interesting strat though.

Same. Tried setting Raid/BG settings to barest minimum, everything as low as it will go, still getting 13 fps

Throwing my hat in, too.

10900k CPU

Game’s on an SSD

I have DBM and Details possible impacting FPS, but I’ve tried disabling or lowering their settings/update intervals and I still drop FPS like crazy on a lot of the bosses.

Last couple expacs I was able to run the game on max or near max settings and easily maintain FPS over 100 to take advantage of my refresh rate, but not here - Lowered things to medium and I still drop to 20-30. I sad :frowning:

lol same as my 5950x + RTX3080, around 120~180 fps outside of pull, but when pull + lust, i can have 20 fps, they really expect me to buy new rigs everytime a new raid come out

I just wanted to chime in here. Even though I’m not raiding, I experience this sudden drop in FPS from like 200 to 23 in the open world. My rig simply does not have an issue. I really do think it’s on WoWs end and I’d wish they’d acknowledge it.

I did this plus did some slight adjustments I found on youtube in the NVIDIA control panel (maxed out fps to 150 there). Also removed the daily changing wallpaper and so far I haven’t experienced the stuttering…hopefully that solves it.

It’s so weird because at release, this was never an issue!

RTX 3060, Ryzen 9 5900, 16G ram, SSD.

Playing on a 1080p display my frames are smooth and steady at 60FPS (60Hz monitor) during open world, delves and dungeons. Even walking about in the raid shows no performance hit. However the moment any of the bosses are pulled my frame rates will go as low as 10 - 15fps and remain in that range throughout the encounter.

This is affecting at least 3/4 of our raid team as well, some of which have substantially better hardware than myself.

Tonight before we did our normal re-clear, I ran a repair on the game. Updated my chip set and graphics drivers and then did the ENTIRE re-clear without a single add-on enabled.

The issues remained. I even tried all the lowest graphics settings on a few fights to no avail.

Anyone looking into this?

Open world, delves and dungeons GPU usage is 85 to 99 percent with 100 to 120 fps at high settings. Raids (boss fights) specifically GPU usage goes to about 30-40 percent and fps drops to 40-50. Add-ons and graphics settings do nothing. Even tried a clean windows install to make sure it wasn’t drivers.

same issues

Has anyone here been able to consistently repro the issue in different groups?

I did some testing today and occasionally I’ll join groups in groupfinder and average around ~40-60 fps throughout a raid fight, but with my guild I’m consistently around 20 fps.

I also noticed in LFR sometimes I don’t have any issues even with a larger than usual raid! This leads me to believe the issue is being caused by a specific spec. I’ve narrowed it down to one of these candidates as being most likely by looking at what specs we consistently have in raid that I haven’t had in groups w/o lag.

ele sham, ret pally, outlaw rogue, boomie, bm hunter

I came across this issue in last nights raid, I’ve done many pugs and guild groups prior to this with no issues, but the most recent raid with guild a few of us had huge fps drops whenever a boss encounter started. Always smooth outside of encounters.

Switched off addons, reduced graphics to lowest settings, continued to have tanked fps on encounters.

Not sure if its a spec issue, I’ve been raiding with boomie/ret/ele players in guild and never had this problem, though I did switch from disc priest to an aug evoker on that night, a spec that hasn’t been in guild raid yet, but never had lag with them in pugs.
One thing I noticed is that when some players died on one of the fights, my fps jumped back to normal while in the encounter still.

I was having issues and I did the following and it’s fixed. This week I have no frame issue: the following things I did was first :

  1. Performed a clean driver update (I have Nvidia 4070 super)
  2. Disable Nvidia overlay
  3. I turned of windows hardware acceleration GPU Scheduling

Just tested the above and unfortunately still having the same issues.

Running with a 3080ti and 5800x CPU

That’s unfortunate. It’s wierd that only certain people are having issue , but I was definitely experience what everyone was talking about, but not no more

It would seem that switching from DX12 to DX11 helped stabilize it… somewhat. Frames are still garbage but a bit less spiky and not QUITE as low.

I’ve seen it suggested elsewhere that wow is currently suffering from a memory leak that may be causing the issues.
