Low FPS in the new raid but low GPU usage?

Idk what’s going on but with the new raid it’s not using my whole GPU (Roughly 35%) before lowering FPS and it’s only at the mid 50s for temperature.

Didn’t seem to be much of an issue in dragonflight, ardenwield for example would max out at 100% usage. No new drivers for WoW exist as of yet either for my 2070 super. And then I when I’m not in the raid my settings go HIGHER and the usage ramps up to where they should be.

What gives?

EDIT- Posthumously adding that my build is:

  • i9 9900k
  • 32GB RAM
  • RTX 2070 Super
  • Game is installed on my main boot drive that is an M.2 SSD
  • Settings mostly on high in game (But again GPU usage isn’t maxed out)
  • Performance set to “High performance” on NVIDIA settings
  • Same with power management
  • Tested with and without addons (And I only use like 4 to begin with)

I’m aware my setup is aged by this point but only this raid has really taxed my system due to just straight up not using my full potential lol.

Chiming in to say I’m having the same problem. My game runs great in the open world, delves, and dungeons. But in Nerub-ar Palace my fps drops to 30-40 frequently, especially around the Bloodbound Horror boss. I had no issues with Dragonflight raids.

I’ve tried every troubleshooting step I could find: updated and even removed all my addons, turned all graphics settings to low, turned off Optional GPU features/vsync/triple buffering/fidelity fx, updated my drivers. Nothing improves my fps.

My specs:
4060 ti
i7-13700f
16 Gigs of ram
And I’m on an SSD.

Exactly! And usually when lowering settings doesn’t do anything that’s a clear sign of an optimization issue or a visual bug, hell they had one not long ago that would tank framerates just for riding a specific mount.

I’m hoping that’s all this is, you have better hardware than I do lol.

Also yeah, the 2nd boss of the wing is the WORST performance overall.

Just wanted to add to this. I was dropping to 2 fps during every boss fight. frame by frame unplayable. really hoping this is an optimization issue that gets fixed.

Same here, getting 5fps every boss fight.

7800X3D and 7900 XT.

FPS wasn’t too bad, I guess, running around 54 during 30 man Nerub’ar Palace. I run some high settings with major features like RT off, Liquid Detail, and the environmental sliders around 4.

Some abilities would drop everyone’s frames. I’d hit the 20s, and people with worse PCs were reporting single digits.

FPS should be better. I was probably 90 average during Amirdrassil in mythic, and in combat. I know 10 more players hits performance pretty hard, though.

Check addons, particularly ones like Details and DBM/BigWigs that parse the combat log. Try without addons to see if it’s any better. This is pretty much the only way it could affect some but not others. You can even disable addons one at a time to find the culprit.

If it were a widespread issue with the game itself, there would be hundreds or more threads on here about it.

Unfortunately, I’ve already tried disabling all addons, and I ran lfr multiple times last night, changing settings and disabling addons between runs and bosses to try fixing it. No improvement so far. I was only using a few to begin with: BigWigs, LittleWigs, Shadowed Unit Frames, TomTom, and Turn In. Disabling these one at a time, or all at once, made no difference.

I tried a few other steps the past couple hours. I went in to my Nvidia control panel and made sure WoW was added to the 3D programs tab, hoping that would do something. I also downloaded and made some changes to Process Lasso to try and give WoW higher CPU priority, and once again disabled add-ons. No improvement whatsoever. Every other game I play is fine, every other area in this expansion my fps is fine. It’s ONLY in the raid that I start to have issues. I guess it’s good Delves and 5-mans run well for me, because if this is how to raids are gonna be optimized, I guess I’ll have to stop raiding. Hoping this is just poor optimization that gets fixed ASAP.

Yeah I run with very few addons to begin with so it’s easy enough to test, plus again…idc what the other guy is trying to prove, if the issue is ONLY in the raid and nowhere else, then there’s a problem with the raid.

Other threads have come up, each person has different hardware than you or I. Clearly something is wrong, honestly performance has been weird ever since pre-patch if I’m totally honest, but nothing has made me drop below 50-120 fps except this raid.

AND even during death runs back to the 2nd boss even being the only person on screen where you land and there being no combat it’s still dipping just from BEING there.

I’ve had zero issues with fps since returning to WoW during MoP remix. Last night during Nerubar Palace I would drop from 55-60 all the way down to 5 fps. It got really bad during bloodbound horror and never got better.

Open world, delves, and dungeons are all pretty much flawless fps on my end, but the moment I enter the raid I’m playing in slideshow mode. At one point last night I turned off every addon besides ElvUI and set my graphics to low and it still did nothing. All my drivers are up to date and I was only running discord in the background. I feel a little vindicated seeing others with a similar issue.

I’m glad more people are starting to complain, there’s definitely a bug affecting performance. I’m guessing it’s with the lighting/shadows, much like the beledar’s spawn mount issue they fixed.

happened to me last night and seemingly got worse, dropped to 2-4 fps on average on silken court and ansurek. many in my raid team reported the same issue

Performance got worse through out the raid. Hitting 30-45 fps from 135 multiple times. After clearing raid I still kept getting the performance errors in dornogal. Everything was fixed after restarting my game.

I got down to 25 FPS on heroic Queen Ansurek with 29 people during, I think, Liquefy, or the cast before it that drops Acid everywhere.

Usually, I’m about 45 FPS while recording in that fight. Definitely on the high end for most. I run about 55 when mechanics aren’t heavy.

For testing without add-ons, you need to remove the folders. I’d also try disabling Advanced Combat Logging, and reduce Details update intervals to the minimum if using it.

Same here, low fps during raid encounter. tried with and without addons enabled same issues. We had 26 ppl in raid

Awful FPS in raid last night. Running a 3070ti, 32 gb of ram, and an i7 8700k (I realize dated but still a decent chip).

I was getting 20 FPS on most fights, yet have 144 FPS out of combat.

Awful lag on first Raid part on LFR. Seems to be triggered by some of the bosses/attacks used. Would go from 4 fps to clean 60 on ultra low graphics setting.
Made healing impossible.

Throwing my hat in the ring here. We have about 25 people in raid. Frames drop to sub 10 on fights.
