Loving Seal of Command in Classic

How about because there are no classic class forums yet? If it bothers you so much, maybe you should post in a suggestion thread about it?

There is actually a classic section of the forums.

Also, it makes no sense to clutter up the Paladin section of the retail forums with discussions about a completely different game mode.

It’s just confusing and I’m not the only one who has this reasonable opinion.

I have a simple fix. Put a thread at the top of the forum called " retail builds" and have it link to a site where mythic raids state the best builds because that’s what 90% of people do anyways.

I’m going to actually respond to the discussion about Seal Of Command, because I was actually there during the bad old days of Retnoobs and LOLRet. :slightly_smiling_face: Any of you folks who didn’t have to deal with it and think it’s cool now just need a little history on it. :slightly_smiling_face:

As folks are now seeing again in Classic, the problem with Retribution and Seal Of Command being the only way to do damage is that the so-called “DPS tree” is more like RNG Burst Damage, and much like today’s complaints about RNG cheapening loot and gear, RNG cheapened everything about Ret Paladins when their ability to do any DPS was purely a dice roll.

By Lich King, despite all the back and forth on the forums about Ret, Blizzard ultimately was saying by various Blizzcons that they wanted Ret to be more in control of their damage, and that’s how everything evolved to what it is today. The old system is cool because we haven’t seen it in awhile, but once the new toy effect wears off you’ll see why folks hated it and wanted it gone. :slightly_smiling_face:

Consider this - you’re running something with minmax gear and all your procs and crits line up in a row. BOOM a ton of damage and threat and your tank’s going nuts. If the opposite happens and nothing procs you look like someone who can’t do any damage - none of which you have any control over because it’s 100% a roll of the dice and you rolled snake eyes.

Then there’s PVP. You didn’t “lose to a Ret Paladin” in a duel or fight in a battleground, they just “got lucky with their Seal Of Casino procs.” Likewise, the Ret Pally didn’t really “lose the duel,” they just “got unlucky with SoComm.”

Some of the other RNG effects becoming something more in players’ control had similar effects, but Old School Ret was the grand showcase. :slightly_smiling_face:

Enjoy comparing Then Vs. Now though. It gets the ol’ gears turning.

Slapping blessing of wisdom if you have mana problem. SoCom proc more common than Windfury.

Two things, one there is no classic class discussion forum and two why is it bad to talk about Paladin in the paladin forums?

Switch to max rank after landing HoJ just to Judge, then back to rank 1.

You not gonna have mana problem at 60 just don’t waste mana heal people

LMFAO you clearly never play shammy in vanilla nor classic if you think SoC procs more than windfury; and if windfury isnt procing for you then you’re completely stupid and doing it wrong. Windfury can proc windfury in vanilla which makes it OP, not sure if that has been fix but windfury works better with faster weapons so it actually proc on chance while SoC is proc per amount of time which is why a slower weapon is better for it. But when you can proc windfury on windfury proc,
SoC is trash; windfury is shammy’s version of Reckoning but better since pally always gets a crappy form of the spells.

These forums were orginally created for classic discussion long ago. Please take your retail discussion else where

I disagree with a no-healing playstyle for ret. A 20/0/31holy/ret spec cag give you both good damage and efficient healing:

classic.wowhead(insert dot com here)/talent-calc/paladin/5050312202–502050512023051

That spec got me through commander and any raid I wanted to heal in. A ret paladin who does not heal their allies in pvp is a bad ret paladin.

genius

you dont have to wear all plate.

many shockadins and spelladins will be wearing cloth and leather and mail.

i also dont want hear about how good plate is
as we all have seen throughout the history of wow is that the armor you wear doesnt negate much damage.

its all about hit points, class abilities, and dps.

D’awww, no need to butter me up! :kissing_closed_eyes:

I know, which is why I tested Mail and Leather as well. Not going to use Cloth when I attempt to fight things.

I too, have felt the pain of feeling squishy in plate, though I believe you are exaggerating a bit.

you ever watch squishy priests, locks, and mages tank mobs that would demolish us?

or better yet
take off your armor
take a hit
put your armor back on
take a hit
and look at the differnce in damage done to you.
its not much different

Not sure mobs, but the damage mitigation against players with lots of armor is pretty big. Go from hitting leather and cloth for 800 on crit, to hitting for like 560 on crit on plate.

That’s just old memory though, you guys get to 60 and tell us all about it!
