Loving Ret currently, I know they aren’t top tier but man WPvP is fun and I am actually soloing 60s in PvP…burst is insane with CS

yeah I got my ret to 60, got zg/aq 20 gear with high warlord weapon and been globalling all the boostie boys, been a fun week

I was killing 60’s while in my early/mid 50’s. Folks like to rip on ret, but the burst is nice. If you can manage your resources, you’re a threat in many PvP settings.
Reading these made me really wish I didn’t delete my 60 ret pally 2 years ago.
My boosted toon made me realize how many players are just plain bad at PvP.
Solo’d a rogue who was in mixed AQ/Naxx gear with a R11 title, while I had mostly Communal Gear still. She even got the opener. Felt bad for her.

Let them get to 70 and not attacking communal gear and boosted folks trying to honor grind.
Ret pallies are still hilariously bad in PVP. I can’t think of a single class outside of warrior that can’t easily kill one.
Don’t get used to it. Once resil comes into play, we will hit like a wet noodle.
I’ve watched many beta Ret pvp videos and Ret definitely looks viable and fun

They are fun, but since I primarily PvP, I just can’t main a ret. Your only truly favorable match-up is against warriors. Any halfway decent mage, hunter, or lock is going to absolutely torch you, and those are classes you are going to see a lot in this expansion. Druids and rogues will generally beat you as well, but they can just runaway 100% of the time if the fight is going poorly for them since you have no real way to slow them down and keep them in your burst range.
I played ret all through classic, ppeople are full of stuff/bad/let the internet form their opinions because it was fun af and I would top DPS or Kills in BG all the time.

Ret performs fine in BGs. But my guess is that you significantly out-geared most of the people grinding bgs for a starter blue set, and the skill level and coordination in a random bg is generally pretty low (or non-existent). Rets struggle in most true 1v1 situation and have few desirable arena comps. There are not many situations in arenas where you wouldn’t rather just have a warrior. Better make good friends with a shaman.

This is a pretty bad take. Not ideal in arena’s, sure. But solo pvp out in the world, Ret’s are FAR better and one of the best 1v1 classes in TBC. No debate.
Not sure, maybe cause I play a pally I can kill them easily on everything? Literally the only time I lose is due to a lucky proc wave.
Only thing I wouldn’t attack a ret on would be a warrior or undergeared rogue. Everything else? I’d have no issues going after one.
