Loving HC Swamp of Sorrows

Sure, but that seems to be semantics.

They started going after the non-official HC griefers across the board. That included people doing anything mob kites to kill people, intentional stealth flagging on top of quest givers/flight paths, etc.

All I’m saying is if you find a place that is prone to unintentional PvP flagging and you spend your days jumping people your days are very likely numbered.

the player consented to PvP by getting too close to horde guards :expressionless: simple as
and no, this isn’t the same as a player trying to trick someone into right clicking him, before anyone brings that up

I’ve said my piece, and highlighted how the HC agreement is worded. Ultimately to believe that any hypothetical player that is camping a place prone to accidental flagging isn’t going to be viewed as a negative behavior that goes against the HC agreement is a really dumb take to have and I certainly wouldn’t want to risk my account over it.

No-one going to get banned killing people who were flagged by guards. It’s all within the bounds of the rules and game world and no exploits are involved. It is not at all the same as dragging mobs on top of someone and vanishing.

I watched a hunter get murdered by goblins in bootybay after hearthing from the swamp when he got flagged by one of those guards. Definitely going to be a garbage zone once higher levels get more free time.

People could, ya know, just not run on top of the guards.

The scout pats are pretty thick in swamp of sorrows, even if your being careful it can be tough there.

After getting flagged there once and realizing you can’t lose the flag by logging (the timer only runs down while you’re online), I made a macro to /tar stonard and raid marked any of the npcs that were near so it was easier to avoid them.

The rules of engagement only state intentional PvP flagging as a reason to intentionally kill someone.

If you go to the Swamp and gank lower levels knowing they are being flagged unintentionally, you’re clearly breaking the rules of engagement that Blizzard may or may not actually enforce.

See… the problem is that a LOT has been done by Blizzard to cease and prevent “accidental” flagging. The interaction of being flagged by other faction guards is considered legitimate currently and weighs upon Blizzard to either rectify, or leave as is.

This is a known issue, so we’ll see what happens after shutdown.

If it’s the expected nothing, Blizzard has spoken. Non-issue. There are no accidental flaggings anymore

There has never been an official HC server before.

The random patrols in Swamp aren’t town guards though and the rules only tell you to avoid “settlements.” The roads and middle of the swamp aren’t part of the horde town you’re supposed to avoid.

It’s also inconsistent as there are horde NPCs in Ashenvale outside of their two town/camps for example that do not PvP flag you when you engage with them.

i can’t wait to kill auto flagged alliance in swamp of sorrows

neat. and? :expressionless:

And what? The post is self explanatory. Did you have something useful to contribute to the conversation or were you just popping in to say something useless?

nothing you said indicated anything that needed to be changed :expressionless:

The patrols in swamp need to be changed since they are flagging people when the patrol attacks them, which is not consistent with how faction NPCs outside of camps/towns in other places act and is also inconsistent with Blizzard’s wording in their rules for engagement.

It will also reduce the likelihood someone will be “tricked” into becoming flagged unintentionally. It’s important to note that attacking an enemy faction NPC will still flag you even if you haven’t typed /pvp, so steer clear of settlements of the opposing faction!

The middle of the swamp is not part of a settlement.

Most importantly, this also includes taking actions to deliberately cause the death of another player, such as (but not limited to) kiting higher level or elite mobs onto or near other players with the intent that they take damage and die, or deliberately causing a wipe in a raid or dungeon group. This is not a PvP realm, and the normal PvP realm rules do not in any way apply to this realm. Outside of a normal Duel to the Death, consensual PvP flagging, or Wargames killing other players isn’t the core goal of Hardcore gameplay. If players are found to make it their goal to take part in this kind of disruptive style of play, we reserve the right to take immediate and decisive action against anyone found to be deliberately causing this disruption to other players on these realms, including permanent account closure.

Unexpected random flagging in the middle of the zone, not near any town/camp is also not what I’d consider “consensual” PvP flagging in terms of one of the only expectations they mention in when you’re allowed to kill someone.

some areas have patrolling guards. learn the locations and be careful around them. this is all L2P stuff :expressionless:

Very few areas have PvP flagging guards as far out as Swamp, it’s an outlier.

I was, I still think they need to be changed.

No, it’s an inconsistency with Blizzard’s policies as stated and inconsistent with other faction NPCs in some other locations.

would you like to show us all how to play? Pop out a level 37-38ish character and complete every alliance quest there on recording.

I’ve done all the quests in swamp of sorrows before without dying or getting pvp flagged by stonard guards :expressionless: I don’t think it’s such an unbelievable claim.
