Love PVP but why complain?

I’ve constantly been reading in local about being ganked and people complaining about it. You get some of those ignorant responses like “You’re on a PVP server” or “Lrn2PVP.” Let me explain so blizzard and everyone else understands as well.

Did you ever realize that people love PVP but when it comes to constant ganking and griefing they will get tired from it? I am one of those big PVP guys at level 60. If someone pulls one off on me at my level, 2 levels higher or what not, GAME ON.

I find it rare when you encounter a horde player ganking you 1v1. On whitemane, it’s mostly 3v1 or 5v1. If it’s 2v1 with the same level as me, I normally win the fight 100% of the time.

Why do you win the fight 2v1? Because horde on whitemane are terrible. I kid you not, they don’t know how to PVP and it’s embarrassing. For the most part, people are getting discouraged with classic because of this.

In vanilla 15 years ago, it wasn’t like this. You would get the occasional 2v1 and griefers. For the most part, it wasn’t something that would discourage you from playing. I’ve noticed that Horde dominate most of the servers as horde players are the ones mostly into classic vs the alliance.

If you ever come across someone ranting in local about being ganked. Leave them alone. They are just letting out frustration because time is precious. We struggle with queue times as it is. So spending most of your lower level time returning to your body is not fun. Common sense people!

  1. Most of us work long hours and have families. (not like 15 years ago)
  2. We don’t have time to deal with nonsense PVP.
  3. Just because someone complains doesn’t mean they need to be on PVE.
  4. lrn2pvp is not a joke. I am a rogue and I never attack someone lower than me. If I’m in a group I don’t touch a horde alone.

In the end, classic is not fun for a lot of people on PVP. It’s dominated by horde every turn you make. I love classic and will continue to have patience, ganked until I am 60. We come to video games to escape the harsh life only to deal with it in here.

“Stop being a P****y and man up.” Trust me, in RL I’m far from it. If you can understand and read you will know where most people are coming from. Has nothing to do with the size of your balls.

Advice for everyone that gets terrorized by horde. Fight through and get your main to 60. Play all your alts on a PVE server if you wish to experience Vanilla.

Blizzard if you are reading. Enough is enough. You teach bullying in video games and wonder why parents don’t allow their children to play games.

How to fix the solution (should have been done 15 years ago)
Servers need RPG, PVE, PVP, HCPVP (hardcore pvp)

Anyone that is 3 levels lower than you will not be flagged for PVP. This is not for hard core pvp servers. This will keep you from being griefed. If there are 3 horde attacking one alliance and two are high level while the other is of same level. Guess what. Your steroid freak friends can’t help you now. PVP needs balance and honor. There is no honor in executing someone lower than you.

I don’t mind violence in video games because it’s just a game. This can be detrimental to a persons mind as they rage over being griefed over and over again.

I would love some intelligent responses to this post. I’m curious to how people feel about all of this.

No. Actually, I saw some Alliance on top of the roofs in Gadgetzan, not being attacked by NPCs, but attacking Horde in town, and it brought joy to my heart.

Then I read people whining on the forums about this sort of stuff. It’s very disheartening, and saddening to me that GMs cow tow to a small minority of noisy people who shouldn’t be on PVP servers complaining about fun being had.

Can’t blame players for the rooftop incident. That goes against blizzard for giving them access to that rooftop. I’ve been a victim of it myself. Not a big deal. If you are gonna allow world pvp like that, then guards shouldn’t attack those that help.

Example. I get attacked by someone, guards should know I’m on their side and not attack me. Which allows me to attack them with the guards.

Hate to break it to you, but that policy has been in effect as far back as 2005.

Sounds to me like a case of the “I want to gank people but I don’t like to be ganked” someone call the waaahhhhmbulance

I died in a video game ahhh I’m a victim!

There was a 60 priest on our server ganking Freewind post for literal hours and hours. Dude was up there from around 9pm and was still there at 2am when I went to bed.

I ran out the back and did some questing but every time I returned he was still there. That is just insane to me, killing low lvl people for hours on end.

This is where at the end I said “I would love some intelligent responses to this post. I’m curious to how people feel about all of this.” You have failed to read that part. What you just said makes absolutely no sense.

The lowbies tears are hilarious, you realize you are giving them what they want when you come on to the forums, complain, and type up a manuscript on how to alter servers? You rolled on a pvp server… deal with it… that’s how the game works. There is no magical forcefield that protects you because you are a lower level than the person killing you, and there shouldn’t be one because that would be on a retail wow level of immersion breaking.

Personally, I’d be happier if it was just fine the way it is. It’s a PVP server. Let PVP happen. It isn’t particularly hard to either fight back, solicit reinforcement, or go somewhere else.

What is reprehensible (in my opinion) is using Blizzard GMs as retaliatory action, because one is too incompetent to deal with it on their own.

Having said that, I’m not particularly big into WPVP. I vastly prefer PVP servers to PVE servers (I won’t play on a PVE server). However, I could care less for organized WPVP for the most part. I certainly do not intend to park myself on top of a roof to attack the opposing faction, however if someone was doing that to me, I would probably get a kick out of it, and maybe spend some time trying to get to them, and return the attention.

Anyway, it’s unfortunate and in my opinion unhealthy, and a negative aspect of the current political climate that we have GMs enforcing rules that (again, in my opinion) shouldn’t exist, and were never rules to begin with.

The hell it wasn’t.

We had an entire guild that did nothing but camp boats on my RP-PvP server, and they did it in character!

High levels & questing groups would go out of their way to run you down.

The point is not fair PvP that is fun for all, it is about fostering a deep resentment amongst those who share a world with you on your server, which translates into a fun and dangerous world in which players are invested in control of their side’s fate.

This in turn also leads to epic conflicts @ 60 where things sometimes are a little more “fair.”

This is where I stopped reading your post

I highly doubt that.

Not a day goes by reading people in local chat complaining about this. It’s not a WPVP issue. WPVP is freaking amazing once you are level 60. Been there done that and it’s a lot of fun. As for PVP it’self, it gets abused hence they call it Griefing. What joy does a high level get killing a lower player over and over and over and over again? That is PVP but it’s also griefing. A lot of PVP players that love to PVP. When griefed, they don’t have fun.

Again Huffandpuff, I don’t mind PVP. I speak on behalf of everyone that complains and I agree with them. I could care less you gank me over and over with your steroid freak friends on epic mounts.

What happened to me:
Me 34 Rogue, Shaman 39 decides to gank me. I kill him. He comes back again, I kill him. The more I try to avoid him so I can quest, the more he comes at me and dies. Now I’m confronted by ?? skull horde bastards ganking me over and over because he failed at 1v1.

Typical life of an alliance player.

The solution to this problem comes in phase 2 with dishonorable kills, which reduce honor points for killing lower level players.

Sure, there will still be lvl 60’s who don’t care about honor rewards and will still gank lowbies, but again, this is the purpose of PvP server.

You are misinformed… there is no penalty for killing low level players… you earn dishonorable kills by killing quest givers and NPCs marked as “civilians”

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you.

Always makes me laugh when players want to put rules around open world PvP on a PvP server. PvP is not fair, life is not fair, deal with it. You get ganked, you gank, it’s all part of life on a PvP server. Group up, call in your guild, move to another location. The whining needs to stop.

I get it man, dying sucks, getting ganked sucks… but it’s just a part of the game that we all have to deal with. I get why people complain… it’s just pointless to complain. Instead of complaining people should team up, call in higher levels to clear the area etc.

For every problem there is a solution.

You are right, I stand corrected.

Just wait until phase 2 when all of the 48+ area flight paths are camped by 4 or 5 rogues and you get insta gibbed until you are worth no honor. It’s going to get much, much worse.

And that goes for horde and alliance.
