Hi. I had some characters at level 60 and progressed through a chunk of the story before the release of the mega dungeon. Now I see all my characters are snapshot as if they were at the end of battle for azeroth rather than having progressed through any shadowlands content. Is there a way I can restore my characters?
That shouldnt be possible to have toons deleveled on that kinda scale.
I know what I did. My alliance characters are fine, but I know for a fact I had one horde mage and one horde druid and one alliance mage and one alliance druid roughly around the same level of progress during shadowlands before I stopped subbing.
It’s not. Lowering a characters level is not an option as it’s a huge, error prone and time consuming amount of work. Happened only under the most extraordinary circumstances in the past, and I don’t believe they have done it at all within the past few years. Never heard of it being done for more that a single character on an account.
If Blizzard felt the character(s) were wrongfully leveled up due to something like an exploit or through a payment that failed for some reason or another, they would lock the character or ban the account, not de-level them.
Does the OP have more than one account or WoW license?
Are you looking at your character selection screen or perhaps the forums? Sometimes the forums aren’t the most accurate representation of things, so if you’re glancing there, that’s the first issue to be ruled out.
If you’re looking at your character selection screen? Try logging into one of those characters and see if it’s accurate then.
Yeah I logged in… sorry I thought this was a customer support forum. I didn’t have any progress in shadowlands on any of my horde characters. I could’ve sworn that I leveled up and progressed at least some of the shadowlands campaign on my horde characters and I logged in and started the ebon blade chain quest in the maw on my druid.
The only time they have deleveled a toon was many years ago when a GM accidentally leveled a twinking character while having to log in to the character to fix something. The devs had to take over and delevel that toon and it took them quite a long time to do so as it isn’t something they want in the system in the first place. The game is about advancing, not going backwards.
Blizzard added some capability to de-level toons a couple years back. It used to be virtually impossible for them to do, and they became able to do it in some limited circumstances.
That said, it wouldn’t be something that just randomly or accidentally happened to your characters. Snapshots aren’t saved of your characters such that they can just be rolled back - it doesn’t work like that. So if your characters aren’t the level you remember, it’s virtually certain you’re just misremembering. You can always submit a ticket to inquire, but I would pretty exhaustively think this over, see if any achievements or items back up your memory, etc.
