Back during WLK, I remember having a discussion in-game with a GM about someone making anti-Semitic jokes in chat. Like, a real 5-minute discussion about what I felt the penalty should be, and all that.
The issue is simple - hiring enough people, and paying them enough to care about what is essentially a thankless job.
well at the absolute bare minimum, Lost Ark is F2P, so they don’t double dip in that regard. Blizzard charges you 15 a month and then asks that you open up the wallet even more for additional items you can see they put more effort into, than similar in game products.
Its not an apples to apples comparison mate. We are asking for skins there because there is a metric but ton available on other versions of the game IE Korea, Japan, and Russia. There is little to no reason for them not to exist in our version. It is desperately needed though because visual customization of your character is a STRONG detractor from Lost Arks potential success…
they did not implent the honing changes from other regions so people have to open their wallets and get more cash from players who want to progress, i was in t2 and left because i had no fun grinding mats only to fail honing over and over again
I ask for skins on the wow shop
I still say Blizz should add every single armor to the cash shop (minus the obvious like Gladiator skin) recolored with the primary and secondary colors: Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, Violet.
I feel like you might be intentionally missing the point. Im not terribly ok with the P2W in Lost ark, but it was known going in. The game is F2P at the base level so it has to make money some how.
The issue in wow, is that we offer up a subscription, or token purchase allowing access to the game, THEN there is the appearance of higher quality transmog or mounts sitting outside the game in a cash shop waiting to be purchased.
It is the double dipping that pisses people off here, not the fact that it exists. We can discuss what is an acceptable level of P2W in LA, but that isn’t the point of this thread.
Nobody is entitled to speak with any developer, CM, or any manager just because you have an active sub. I’ve never understood why players here think they are entitled to speak to someone at Blizzard.
Once upon a time Ion and Josh would hold Q&A episodes, often every few months. Now, were those Q&A very effective? Probably not since that form of interaction is by the nature of time, rather limited. What I would like to see is them holding live talks based on discussion topics they pick up here, on the CC forum and on other sites, to discuss. They could do it say, once a month for an hour, and have a selection of people taking part in the discussions, both from the company and elsewhere. Sort of like that round (rectangular) table talk that happened before Classic by the old dev team, where they talk about things that are both important and interesting.
It might not solve all the communications issues but it would at least give that sense of community where players can watch, maybe take part in Discord channel viewings where they could chat with each other etc. Its easy enough to say “yes we’ll pass that along to someone” but if nothing ultimately comes of it, its pointless chatter. I believe they need to put the people back into the game and let players feel that someone is listening, even if nothing comes of each player’s own particular wants.
We have been getting a blue post every like 2 days with changes from feedback, thoughts on why they are doing things and things they have ideas or are working on.
Would people rather have an update every month thats 30 minutes? I know I’d rather have them give the details of something asap so feedback can be given. Like with tier sets reworked a couple times as an example.
I’m not sure it’s better than many years ago but it 100% better rhan anything we have gotten in the past 2-3 expaxs. It’s a step in the right direction.
I’m sure after 15-20 years doing customer service at the same job your performance is gonna go way down too. People can only handle so much mental abuse as the front lines of the company but the ones who do not actually make decisions about the direction of the game.
Im not saying that frequent blue posts arent good, but they also arent very personal. Id like a bit more personal input from the teams. Others may not agree, that’s fine, its just what I believe would be beneficial on a PR front if nothing else.
Edit- rip quote I guess, at work, on phone too lazy to fix.
That’s fine I personally just don’t need things like yoshi-p fake crying on camera when something goes wrong from a business I buy products from.
I don’t go grab a burger from mcdonalds to hear about the cashier’s 7th kids test scores. I guess I just don’t get the “personal” bit. It was never personal, it was always business to me atleast.
I want Blizzard (via a rep or whatever) to come out and say, "Hey, you know what? BFA and SL haven’t been up to par. We’ve had some internal issues - it’s been pretty public - but that’s not an excuse, it’s just the reality of the situation. We dropped the ball and delivered products that as a whole, we’re not proud to put our name behind. We’re trying to do better now, but that won’t regain the goodwill we lost.
We’ve heard your feedback about many gameplay aspects and we’ve been trying to be more responsive since 9.1.5. We’re testing some new things out in 9.2.5. We’ve seen a lot of feedback about keeping previous content relevant. We’re adding more mythic+ dungeons to the rotation and working on testing plans to keep older raids relevant. We made the Mage Tower permanent. We’ve tried to stop forcing players to engage with systems they don’t want to pursue and allow them to play the game they want to play and still have fun. We don’t think we’re “there” yet and we’d love any feedback you can provide to help us improve on our designs.
We’ve also heard your feedback regarding the story quality. It does reflect some of the internal divide and struggles we faced, and we’ve tried to do as much as we could to realign the story into a direction that we felt was best for the Warcraft franchise as a whole. Even as we reach the end of the Shadowlands though, it’s apparent that those efforts have not delivered the end result we desired. We’re not sure how to rectify this situation. It’s unsatisfying to simply wave a hand and say the last 5 years didn’t happen, but we ask that you bear with us while we try to recontextualize some of the story to put us back toward where the Warcraft universe was what seems like such a long time ago."
I clearly missed it when they said they dropped the ball and delivered a product they weren’t proud of and even now they’ve been trying to fix it but it still isn’t there.
I’m aware they added more m+ dungeons, Mage Tower permanent, and they’re testing new ways to make raids fun (and doing cross-faction as well). I think that’s fantastic. But ultimately they need to own up and say “Hey, we gave you a garbage product, we had stuff going on, we dropped the ball, and we’re trying to fix it now. We know we lost goodwill, please bear with us while we try to right the ship.”
Because right now, most interviews say things about how proud they are of what they’ve done, etc. I want them to level with us - as their consumers - and say they’ve been just trying to salvage this gameplay and storyline disaster that’s been the last five years or so. They recognize it’s been a mess.
Them stating that points out to us that they know it isn’t sunshine and rainbows. That they can and indeed do need to do better.
I guess you missed the couple times this expac that Ion and company have stated the failings of the wow team outside of the usual “kek we sorry kek” from bfa. The total 180 on communication (from nothing to atleast something), more developer insight on why changes happen and direct responses to player feedback.
And your whole subjective rant after that is kinda useless so I guess I’ll just say… why are you still here if you think it’s “garbage”.
I don’t pay monthly for products I consider to be garbage then complain about it.
Yes, as I mentioned, they’ve been doing better in some areas. They should absolutely highlight that. As I said.
But instead of gushing over how this is the climax of a story and such a big accomplishment in creating this zone - just come out and say they’ve been trying to salvage a mess from BFA → SL. Since 9.1.5 they’ve been doing a good job, but that’s the minority of that time period.
How much crap do they have on their store? And how much money are they pulling in from that? There is a reason they went global, and it’s not because of the game, it’s all about money.
