Lost Ark starts tomorrow

Wish WoW would’ve done this back when we had cutoffs for glad and rank 1. You’d have to pull an all nighter almost just to keep an eye on the ladder.

game has 3 tiers and was launched in 2018, if anything it has a descent pattern.

Why?

Main pvp in lost ark aren’t the arenas, those are casual content. Very casual.
Main pvp in lost ark are Guilds vs Guilds, which will be disabled at launch.
Btw, you do know in GvG GEAR do matter right? do you like korean grinding? i hope you do. Because their rewards are too good to be ignored and they timegating it specially because you do need gear to play it.
They also introducing more pvp related content in the future such as a faction system and wpvp and which gear will matter there too lol.

You do know none of them do release sub numbers and even when speculating you cant ignore video plataform views, twiter mentions, profit and web search right? they correlate directly to player pop. WoW and FFXIV are pretty tied rn in web search for instance but wows profit and video views are much bigger.
We have “mmo pop” sites saying minecraft and roblox have 300k to 2 millions players when their financial reports show over 40 millions maus alone lol. Those 2 have more players than all other mmos combined.

Its not based on gear as much wow low level bgs are not based on gear, you get scaled up because it is a very casual content. Lost ark main pvp arent the arenas whcih are just a big circle.
Guild vs Guild gear matters a lot, A LOT.
But their content is pretty good regardless of imbalances(that every game have for several reasons) and the microT it’s in fact worth playing but me mindful if you want to be top tier player there is no way you arent using the cash shop.

So it is GW 2 basically is what you are saying?

Not really because gw2 gear never matters to be honest.
Lost ark the main pvp content which is guild vs guild it matters a lot. A new player realistically cant competet at all against a geared one in GvG.

Dunno why people keep talking about the arenas whcih are a big cirlce where you either do 1v1s against each oponent till everyone in a team dies or a 3vs3 where all that matters are the kill count and people keep ressing, like a wow bg.

Hopefully enough people play it and see what a softer version of actual P2W looks like.

Yeah I just took a quick glance at the game and noped out. It looks so much like pretty much every other Asian mmo. :face_vomiting:

You can’t do diablo, but you can do dark souls? I think you’re underestimating yourself.

Its just the click and move style i dont really do. I prefer to move with a key or analog stick. And I know there’s a drag to move but still it’s just a preference I have.

I’ll probably try it again. I tried beta. The story and voice acting was hilariously bad. The combat is fun but gets old after 20 hours. Seems like it’s going to be extremely monetized and I am just so over that in general.

Definitely a typical Korean MMORPG that played just good enough to become their best game in awhile. I still don’t think it is anything groundbreaking like people make it out to be. But every MMORPG is hyped these days.

Yeah tried the Russian one and it was fun but I’ll also never leave WoW. I’ve never found a game remotely close to being as enjoyable.

Lost Ark even as an mmo will not compete with standard mmos because the style is that of Path of Exile and Diablo where PoE is planning for PoE 2 sometime in the future (maybe years, who knows) and Diablo 4 is in the same boat.

I’m looking more forward to those games but I might spend couple hours here and there with Lost Ark when I can.

I’m not very impressed with the classes and how it looks like PvE works.

Some of them have an option for directional key movement, but that’s fair enough. Maybe try diablo (or something similar) on PS/XBox. I enjoy the “dynasty warriors” feel you get with killing monsters by the dozens with each attack, lol. Really looking forward to lost ark as well. I’ve wanted to try it out for years, and I finally get the chance to do that 100% legitimately.

i wish i could get excited about that but i just cant play top down / isometric games this day and age… could have been so nice as a real 3d game

Got that too the other day.

Japan was not on the official zone list but they allow OCE so I am hoping to piggy back off that. So far steam ahs given no warnings with me set for US in japan.

Steam let me pre-load today so a good sign. Games like FF14 that also IP lock I can’t even see US download servers.

Tomorrow I see if I see server access and make a char or 2. Even better…its a telework day so yeah…

Gunslinger and shadowhunter planned chars. I Like me my ranged dps and well…I read shadowhunter is kind of like Demon hunter (demon forms an all that) so…no brainer there for now. See actual class mechanics tomorrow hopefully to be sure.

So…if IP good that is the plan.

I see that view but my take on this was half the time wow is top down anyway.

Many SoD Bosses I run in “arpg mode”. Painsmith for example is ARPG view mode as you dance dance revolution in the spike maze. Wing 2 boss 1…that red storm death is seen much better from an arpg angle imo as well.

I’ll see you guys in game

Any OCE beta peeps in the house?

What is the server that most the aussies and kiwis will call home?

gonna give the game a good month to see how it plays out before i invest any time into it… New World fell apart reallly quick, so I’m curious for sure

ngl, lost ark looks really good, so i’ll be watching plenty of gameplay

I’m going to give Lost Ark a try. Everything I’ve read about the game and the videos of the game I’ve watch, it seems like a different kind of game compared to WoW.

The game has been around for several years and has been a massive hit in Korea and Russia with massive profits. It’s nowhere near as risky as New World… that was IP developed and owned by Amazon with little depth.

This IP is owned by Smilegate, they still produce it, Amazon just gets percentage of profits for publishing it in the west and storing data, etc. But Smilegate does all the creative ideas and updates and content.
