After years of loving WoW, never thinking I’d be the one lucky enough to get a real Thunderfury during Classic, I was chosen to Main Tank in this Classic Anniversary. My guild helped me achieve a bucket list item, and I stayed determined and loyal. I kept clearing raids, I have not missed one week since launch.
Now I have to throw away all the memories and earned accomplishments…because there is no paid clone option.
Please reconsider the transfer to Era and instead offer a paid character clone service, like what was done before.
I spent a ton of time and energy working towards this goal and building my character’s story with the guild.
I am now left with the choice to drop all the effort back into Era away from my guild, or abandon keeping my well earned Classic accomplishments because I carry forward.
This is unnecessary pain.
Arguably Classic players are the most loyal among WoW players, truly enamored by the core game, setting, and player-base across two decades, and redone over and over. I’ve chosen WoW again, and again, over all these other random one-off “WoW killers”, or whatever they used to call them.
Please respect me as a player and give me the opportunity to pay you to clone my character to Era, and retain it in TBC.
Unfortunately I think its an intentional decision to get people to buy boosts, heavily undermining people who invest into characters and the journey they represent.
This is overly dramatic. Just transfer to Era, and keep your Thunderfury there. Roll a fresh toon for Anniversary Classic with no Thunderfury… or don’t.
I raid on 5 characters a week. I went into Anniversary with the reasonable assumption that things would be like before and there would be paid copies to Era, and I’d be able to continue my forever characters on Vanilla Era while also hoping for a TBC Era on the TBC Anniversary servers. If servers ever progressed to Wrath I’d just quit my 70s and only play Vanilla Era, or if TBC Era came out I would play both Vanilla & TBC Era.
Having Scarab Lord and Thunderfury on my Rogue (after our tanks got their TFs first, we got really lucky) and having to choose between the dream of my original goal of having a giga TBC rogue, or the painful regret of my Anniversary Co-GM not copying his 2019 Scarab Lord to Era? I just don’t know. This is awful.
What if there ends up being no TBC Era and I have to quit because I never enjoyed Wrath as much as TBC and Vanilla? I would have such an insane level of regret for not transferring over to Era. But what if I do transfer and there ends up being a TBC Era? Which regret is bigger for me?
Rostering is going to be even harder now as people are already taking their break until prepatch, or are just going to disappear next week because there are no paid copies.
I get the point but I somewhat disagree. I am planning to power level with a friend group at an in person LAN, so now I’m just a green geared boostie in this group. We could be absolutely giga blasting with what we’ve earned. As well, TF is an iconic weapon not just an item slot. I will wear it in town, in progression kill screen shots, and with for playing with my friends. It’s exciting to see a TF warrior run up to SFK entrance and join your group and cleave the instance down.
To this point, your big warrior or hunter with badge of the swarmguard, or healers with scarab brooch, have to choose – era with my geared raid character, or TBC parse? That’s not my cup of tea, but why remove their way of playing just because they dont want to
