Lore question for the experts here

I posted a statement from the The Warcraft Encyclopedia

Malfurion would lead the night elves through the War of the Ancients and the long years that followed. With the creation of the World Tree Nordrassil, the kaldorei druids were bound to Ysera, and her realm, the Emerald Dream, in which they spent centuries of their immortal lives.

The Gilnean druids were called Harvest-witches and Celestine also refers to her druidic order as “keepers of the old ways”. The harvest-witches would use their primitive druidic skills to cultivate crops but almost “died out” as Gilneas developed, though, when the nation fell into famine, it was the druids who, as Celestine claims, “called upon the earth’s blessing and restored the harvest”.

Harvest witches had no mention of ever entering the emerald dream. They still had druid magic. Just couldn’t turn into animals because they hadn’t pacted with the wild gods necessary to do so.

So what we learn from this is that night elves are special because they are literally bound to Ysera’s realm, the Emerald Dream, and they can teach other Druids to enter it as well.

But wait! there’s more!

Until the end of the Third War, druids periodically visited the Emerald Dream to monitor the ebb and flow of life on Azeroth. Today such a visit has become more difficult due to Nordrassil’s poor health.

It’s no longer easy, even for night elves, to enter the emerald dream. If entering the dream is a requirement for druidism, seems that night elves might be spit out of luck. :frowning:

cause they are proto druids

And Zandalari are full druids.

nice try, but blizzard explains it well, and then the nelves come and teach them to be full druids, who go in the dream like all the other druids, next

No where in the encyclopedia is it stated that entering the emerald dream is a requirement to be a druid. It states nelves did it because they were literally bound to Ysera’s realm.

Next.

its literally what every single druid does. explain to me why the zanda dont then, they are the only ones

Zandalari aren’t bound to Ysera like the night elves are, they’re bound to their specific wild gods. This isn’t rocket science.

Also?

Zandalari cannot enter the emerald dream.

thats not the lore

different cause we do have a explaination, they are dinomancers

The npcs themselves state they are druids.
Blizzard states they are druids.

Can you objectively, definitively prove that they cannot enter the emerald dream?

nope already told you all the wq bosses are listed as dinomancers

No where on the druid page is the Emerald Dream even mentioned.

But that aside,

nope but they are dinomancers can you prove they arent.

Thank you.

So, they claim they’re druids. Blizzard claims they’re druids. and you have no definitive proof that they aren’t druids.

There are two potential Human Druids. ACTUAL human, not just Drust Decendants.

Lucan is debatable, as he’s just a Human with the Druid’s ability to enter the Dream. But He’s also being taught by Hamuul personally, so it’s reasonable to say he’s going to be a full-fledged Druid soon.

Aramar Thorne is a young boy who has shown some affinity for Druidism but is a long ways from being one. Maybe if taught by Hamuul too.

Hamuul has got the giantest, bleedingest heart ever. He argued to let the Forsaken join the Horde, to try to cure them. Now he’s teaching humies druidcraft.

Normally I’d be miffed, but Hamuul’s character is pretty sound. He’s always been this really wise dude, so I’m fine with it.

And I’m not even 100% sure on Aramar, because I haven’t read that book.

Zandalari Druids are Druids, they use the Emerald Dream, as taught to them by Gonk. Darkspear Druids are also in the same vein.

Harvest Witches and Thornspeakers occupy their own category, with the latter being a more refined, stronger version of the former, it seems. The key component is a connection with the Emerald Dream, which the Harvest Witches, prior to Worgenism/being taught by night elves, didn’t have. That connection with the Dream is what makes a Druid, coupled with getting blessings from various Wild Gods or Spirits to gain their shape.

Thornspeakers seem to have their origins as Harvest Witches (the first Kul Tirans came from Gilneas), but were then taught by the few benevolent Drust how to connect to the Dream as well. The key difference is that they don’t have blessings from Wild Gods, they instead craft their own animal shapes to mimic.

No. The post I made draws from information all over Zandalar. I spoke to each individual druid NPC in Zuldazar, including the Lun’alai, and based the post I presented to you off what they said.

Zandalari druids are druids. They are called druids and refer to themselves as druids. Gonk, the wild god who taught druidism to the Darkspear tribe, is their patron deity and they explicitly state that their connection to Gonk is stronger than the Darkspear’s because they personally speak to him in the flesh.

If you go to the Zanchul Council room there is a tablet that talks about Wardruid Loti. it has this to say.

Not once in all of BfA have I encountered anything that says the druids of Zandalar are not druids.

So now it is your turn. Present your evidence that Zandalari druids are not druids or stop talking about subjects you don’t know anything about.

Wait, I’m confused, is someone arguing that Zandalari Druids aren’t druids?

I thought at first the argument was about whether or not Dinomancers are druids, which I thought was an interesting discussion, but now I’m thinking it’s more about druids in general.

Gonk taught both Darkspear and Zandalari how to be druids, the lore seems clear to me.
