Lore question for the experts here

I just know as a alliance, all the druid bosses i have to kill for wqs are called dinomancers. but please, post that lore that gonks followers are different from dinomancers.

Zandalari are for all purposes dinomancers and should get to be recognized as such instead of getting stuck being called Druids instead because of game mechanics, same as Sunwalkers should be recognized as Sunwalkers instead of Paladins.

I wouldnt go as far as to say sunwalkers arent paladins, they get light from the sun for all we know they are getting it from a naaru and are mistaken like the rest of the tauren religion seems to be.

I have no idea man. Gonk just isn’t listed on the dinomancers page. I know the Raptari from Horde quests. Don’t remember any dinomancers.

Gossip

Gonk is de loa who taught all trolls how to expand their influence to other loa and become druids. And we are forever grateful.
Have you spoken with Gonk? He is de lord of de pack. He spoke to some of de Darkspear, guiding dem to be druids.

But for us, he is more than a voice. We can listen to him in person. Not some fragment or piece of him, but de real thing.

You don’t get the Light from a Naaru, they don’t work that way.

Tauren’s Light comes from their faith, cause Light is the magic of faith. Whether or not the Sun God is real is besides the point, and it being a Naaru wouldn’t do any more to explain their Light powers than it not being one.

An’she did not ‘teach’ the Sunwalkers, the tauren came upon their own ways of using the Light by praising the sun.

So all of the tauren myths have been false, everyone gets their light the same way its all linked to the naaru, specially with the chronicle stuff

It doesn’t come from the Naaru. It comes from zeal. That’s how the scarlet crusade kept it while being knaves.

The issue is that it always looks exactly like humie paladin stuff. Blood Knights originally had different animations.

Zandalari druids are druids. They aren’t necessarily dinomancers, which are a separate concept.

Dinomancers are more akin to hunters than they are to druids. They wield some form of nature magic that allows them to control, heal, and nurture dinosaurs. Some few can turn into dinosaurs but they are few and far between.

Zandalari druids are divided into two castes. The Raptari, who are loa priests dedicated to Gonk and seem to serve a military role within Zandalari society, and the Lun’alai who are heretics who live outside the city to live in balance with nature.

Both sects seem to share the same abilities. Raptari seem more focused on shapeshifting, but they do have Mooncallers who wield celestial magic as well. Similarly the Lun’alai seem to focus on the Zandalari “moonkin” form, but they have some of their number that turn into ankylodons like Raptari druids do too.

The Raptari druids have never been called dinomancers. The word druid, or wardruid which I believe denotes the Raptari equivalent to an archdruid, is consistently used to describe them.

This is also consistent with their worship of Gonk who is the troll equivalent to Cenarius. Gonk is able to pass through the Emerald Dream and taught the Darkspear how to interact with it, which is the big dividing factor between a proper druid and, say, a harvest witch or other nature-based caster that isn’t recognized as a full druid.

In this sense you could say that while dinomancers have similar powers to what you’d expect from a druid they are not true, full druids. Those were introduced to the trolls by Gonk whereas dinomancy seems to be something independent that you don’t need a connection to any particular loa to pull off.

without links or proof these are just the same words treng was saying.

Interestingly that is NOT how debating works.

You made a claim that Zandalari druids, in spite of never being called dinomancers even once, are dinomancers and not druids.

How about you back up that claim, hmm? I provided my stance which IS supported by the lore. Now let’s see what evidence you have that Zandalari druids are not druids.

Literally looked at the wiki which is what I told treng, there is nothing to suggest they are different, you just came in and repeated the same stuff, which isnt debating at all either

They’re druids, friendo.

Show me them going to the dream then

Show me that being a requirement to be a druid.

I’m going to save you time. You can’t, because it isn’t. They’re druids.

druids periodically visited the Emerald Dream to monitor the ebb and flow of life on Azeroth.

Night elven druids do, sure. That is definitely a thing that night elven druids do.

Every druids goes to the dream, troll, nelves, tauren, all expect zandas cause they are dinomancers, even kul’trias go to the dream.

Still waiting for you to show me where that is a requirement to be a druid. You made a statement. You need to prove it’s accurate.
