Lore Q&A and Character Help 4

Dark Iron warriors are still much like Bronzebeard warriors, they wear heavy armors and can charge in with a wild fervor unknown to most races. The biggest difference between Bronzebeard and Dark Iron Warriors is honor, we have very little or a diffferent view of honor. Dark iron warriors are expected to probably fight like the rest of our army, the dark irons fight smarter not harder. We don’t send our troops in screaming and hope we have the best fighters, we make the field more advantageous to us! In some sources I’ve read it hinted Dark irons might fight in small groups so you could use the same amount of soldiers to perform things like flankings and ambushes! We dark iron use land mines and tanks not like Bronzebeards who drive them in plain view, but like a hidden trump card right outta view until it’s to late.

That being said one of the more recognized groups of Dark iron Warriors and probably even Paladins are the Forge Guard! The forge guard are elite soldiers directly loyal to Moira and presumably Thaurissan. The forge guard were present in the scenario Blood in the Snow, and are currently also present in some instances of the Arathi Warfront.

Some other dark iron warriors or possible warriors of prestige are Thane Angerforge, a ancestor of the current general of our armies. Thane Anvilrage, a great general in the past. Thane Burningeye, a powerful warrior thane who wielded two warhammers! Thane Moltenfist, who had legendary avarice. Anger’rel and Gloom’rel two warriors apart of the seven dark irons who accidentally summoned Ragnaros to this world.

wjile there doesn’t appear to be a direct conscription noted, it might be good to point out that a great part of the dark iron society was considered slaves to the fire elementals. This was likely only really pushed on the lower social classes however. If your dwarf was 80 the wars she might have been included in are the first time the horde with Gul’dan tried to conquer the Blackrock Mountain, this war ended when Cho’gal acted as a emissary… This war would kinda restart after the horde fell apart and Rend and Maim Blackhand tried to conquer the Mountain. The orcs were losing however until the black dragons got involved forcing a stalemate in the center of the mountain.

Whether your a warrior or not is irrelevant to Dark Iron society. What matters is your social status beyond that. Are you a toiling miner who might as well be drunk in the Grim Guzzler? Are you a professional soldier? They get a good dose of respect and fear! We are not a utopian society, we are dystopian. Law breakers can be thrown into the Ring of Law, as a soldier it’s also your job to enforce these laws. However the duel edge of the dark iron society is that you could be a dirty cop of sorts, just don’t get caught! The only ones who are treated the best are the higher echelons of society, the closer to the Empress the better you are seen.

Yes, many dark iron weapons are made with elemental imbued powers, however we tend to stick to fire.

Hopefully this helps.

Oh it does. I’d show off the charcter but the forum isn’t letting me pick her at the moment. One Bertha Cinderhammer, Blacksmith and Warrior of the Dark Irons, who was forced into fighting by the fire elementals… but soon found a talent to it. Before that she had been a simple smith.

And more recently, she got her own back on some fire elementals. Plundered Molten Reaper is planned to be her main transmog weapon come 120.

Could a warlock bind a demon’s soul into herself, similar to Demon Huntresses?

I don’t know much on demon lore but I found an old thread you may gain insight in:

Thank you, gonna read when she get more comp time for sure, her turn almost up.

Before the quest were removed all warlocks had to do binding rituals to summon their various minions. So the Lore is there for what you’re thinking of .

The quests for the succubus gave me some ideas about how to play them too, thank you~

So uh… what sort or stuff can Sub Rogues do using Shadow Magic? Lore wise and otherwise.

As much as they can use in-game, I imagine. We don’t see a lot of shadow rogue magic that I can think off in the story.

What comes to mind immediately is invisibility, this comes up at times, but a clear example is the Illidan novel. We can probably assuming Shadowstep is a function like Alleria’s void portals, but with a lesser range. Shadow blades, so enhancing weapons with shadow, is probably doable.

Bumping this to see if any lore scholars can help me with my question.

Time travel. How difficult is it for a Bronze Dragon to travel through time? How difficult would it be for a Bronze Dragon to bring someone from one timeline to another? I know Kairoz did it with Garrosh, was that a really exceptional circumstance?

I know they can travel through time still, per what Blizzard said. Though they’ve lost a lot of control they once had. Sorry I don’t have a better description beyond those vague terms.

As for bringing someone from another timeline, that seems much harder. Given it took the hourglass made by Kairoz to get Garrosh to AU Draenor. And recently they had to re-empower a shard from it for a bit to get the current Mag’har here.

Water Healing (resto shaman)

It feels good in game to hear and see those nice resto shaman refreshing spell effects! However being splahed with cold water all of a sudden doesn’t feel much restorative, does it?

As I’m drawing the outlines of a Dark Iron shaman that I want to do RP with, I was starting to imagine him, already proficient with lava and dealing with fire elementals, trying to also fiddle with water (as his new allied shamans are able to wield the main elements he wouldn’t like to be behind with just fire) and provoking laughs as he tries to do so, only to fail by creating vapors and fumes at start.

Anyways, I get that shaman healing must be primordially spiritual-based. However, not only we have all these watery-spells baked into a resto shammy arsenal, we also observe that spirit is already being wielded by mistweaver monks as a healing source in game.

So, how do you think wielding water as a healing tool works? And how does being healed by it feels?

I was trying to imagine it as a somewhat emotional experience. Rain makes us feel sad (and that’s not necessarily bad), as we contemplate and ponder, reaching within our deepest layers and allow ourselves to, you know, feel. Maybe that’s a form of healing…

This is the Restoration Legion preview description, which might explain it a little.

Some shaman find a serene affinity for the restorative properties of water. These shaman do not necessarily seek the Light or turn to the divine, yet they feel a profound spiritual connection with the source from which all mortal life took root. So strong is their connection with water that the shaman is able to restore life and heal afflictions. They balance this with a command of the other elements, finding harmony in nature and purifying their allies as a tidal surge washes across a sandy shore.

I always viewed resto shaman as a mix of spiritual and water elements. Remember spirit is the 5th element.

So I write her using something like healing surge like:
‘Sylstyx prayed to her spiritual ancestors and the water elementals. Spirit water formed into her hands, which she wove through the air towards Vynianyx. On reaching the druid, the water seeped into Vyn’s skin and gash, dulling the pain and patching her skin and muscles.’

Healing rain:
‘Sylstyx offered a prayer to the water elementals and a small rain storm formed over the area of her allies. This rain was infused with spirit mana, and would dull the pain of her allies’ injuries as well as heal any minor wounds.’

To travel through the timeways would be relatively simple for an experienced bronze dragon. Probably more difficult for a younger dragon. However we know the dragons can exist in multiple timeways and are aware of their multiple existences, so you could have a youth bronze with a mind of an elder.

Taking someone through time is a lot more complex. Remember altering the time stream is the prerogative of the infinite dragon flight. To take someone through time opens a paradox of uncertainty and would be done only in dire circumstance by experienced dragons. Most in game experiences with time travel are done to stop the infinite flight and with care to maintain the current time flow. Or when Nozdormu had us retrieve the dragon soul. These instances were done relating to necessity. What Kairoz did would be a really exceptional circumstance. Not impossible, but really rare to do on a whim.

Time flow and time lines, time streams and time ways are super convoluted and complex. It is hard for a mind to grasp and comprehend such things, so it is hard to reason out and represent in game and in lore. A bronze dragon, in theory, is aware of their birth, their death, everything in between, and all their alternate possibilities. It is complex and there is no concrete lore supporting much about what they can and cannot do, or what would be truly difficult for them. Why don’t they do more to alter horrendous events? What is truly set as Azeroth’s true timeline? None of these have good answers.

So you can get away with a lot with a bronze dragon, because their lore is some of the foggiest in WoW lol.

My advise if you want to bring someone through time is to make it difficult. Can any bronze do it? Probably possible. But if you make yours work hard to do it, it gets less of an eye roll.

This is great, thank you so much for this.

I totally forgot about the Infinite Flight - that might work even better. The idea I had was for an early Arathi human to be brought to the current timeline as basically a barbarian character. (I’m stoked for the Kul Tiran Humans, but I don’t wanna do too many IC Kul Tiran characters.)

One idea I had was for basically a rogue Bronze to be either acting as a sort of “trickster god” and he does it basically for the lols, or maybe a naive younger Bronze who thinks he can foster peace between humans and orcs if he reminds humans of “where they came from.”

But a straight-up antagonistic Infinite dragon might work too.

My only concern is it kinda treads into Mary Sue territory, because it implies that the character is so important that transferring him to another timeline would literally mess things up. But maybe he’s not that important at all and it’s just like a butterfly effect thing?

Either way, you’ve given me some more ideas so thanks!

Bronze: Maybe if I grab a leader, they would be better suited to-

Random human: GIANT LIZARD MONSTER! pulls out spear, others in hunting group pull out spears

Bronze: Crap. Guess you’ll have to do! snatches random human in hunting party and flies off Now how to take you human jabbing with spear Ouch! Stop it! Stop it I say! freezes the human’s time As I was SAYING! How to get you through the temporal flow without alerting anyone…?

Doesn’t have to go according to plan, could be any old human. All sort of possibilities, from a naive youth to just a straight infinite aligned just doing silly or insane things. Anyone could be insane, crazy, or misguided.

The living body is almost entirely water. So healing via this method as opposed to the light is mainly about correcting imbalances or cleansing that water based body in an almost Tidesage sort of view. Or a Katara point of view for Avatar fans. Being healed by water should feel the same for almost anyone. Water makes no judgements and has no abhorrence to anything that that’s made from it.

People ask this question all of the time. Usually about every couple of weeks the same question comes up.

For all pratical purposes the Light has no special effect against undead. There is one and exactly one Priest spell that has the special effect of immbolising undead but despite being forged of pure light, Shackle does NO DAMAGE to undead creatures.

Light-based spells that damage the undead have the exact same harmful effect against the living.

So the answer is if a Human can grip something without being burned by it… so can a Forsaken without feeling any effects whatsoever.

Got a question, so even if Cannibal isn’t here gonna ask it.

What is the general gist about White Furred Tauren? Are they basically destined to become Spirit Walkers? Do they just seem to be more tied to the spirits as a whole or is that a trend?

Also… well, I’ve had others explain it to me but it couldn’t hurt to hear someone else explain how Sunwalkers work compared to druids, Shamans and Paladins.
