Lord Banehollow Fight Mechanics or is it Glitched?

My lovely Worgen Warlock has this new quest chain to help her learn a new custom form for her imp. But there are problems. I am trying to figure out how to fight this guy without my demons dying and having to be re-summoned till they can’t be summoned anymore, and then also without dying myself. So far I have noted the following:

First ‘phase’ is just fight the boss like you would any other boss

Second ‘phase’ the Lord siphons an imbued soul-stone (which cannot be targeted btw), creates a shield around himself making him immune to my attacks, and summon two demons, which I have found can be subjugated one at a time.

This is as far as I have gotten. I feel like the soul-stones should be targetable, like there should be a way to break the shield. Looking for some advice from those that have completed it already as to what in Argus I am missing here.

But I also have noticed another issue with this fight:

It seems to be phased so that others cannot help you with it unlike the previous quests in the chain. Is this intentional or is it a glitch? I was grouped with another player, we are on the same realm, in the same guild, are the same faction, and neither of us are in time walking. We both have the same quest to kill this guy, and each of us can see him, but we can’t see each other, nor are we actually seeing the same boss, because we are each in our own phase. This strikes me as a glitch because this is an MMORPG, which prides itself on “group content” and all the previous “events” in the chain are open to all that are working the same part of that content.

I am having the very same problem. I am seriously wondering how anyone could beat him on their own. I’m not gonna sit here and say I’m a great player, far from it, but I have tried for over an hour to keep going back and I get killed every time! Very Frustrating indeed!

Some information a friend and I found in another thread that is useful to this fight, others are having success with it, so I will try my hand at it and get back here if it works, and will post any additional information I learn while fighting him again. Hoping this works.

The point of the gateway seems to be to get away from where you were beforehand and is also helpful in one of the later phases when he puts out mass fire on the ground. His adds are more powerful than your own demons, so they hold their own against him better than ours.

The scaling is only two levels over your current level, but with the current difference between one level and the next in terms of health bar and power/strength output between the levels, two levels above our own is actually quite excessive when you actually look at the difference in those two statistics from one level to the next. One level up would be enough to keep us from subjugating him and still make him painful to fight, but it would just feel more solo-able.

In addition, I just found out that the pet skins are account wide, not character specific.
I completed the intro quest, re-farmed the Fel Succubus Orb, and obtained the Ritual of the Voidmaw Felhunter on my Alliance warlock and all of them were available in my Horde warlock’s barber shop!

So I was stuck on it on demonology for a lil and I just couldn’t get him below 20%… Went destruction and I one shot him with 1 hearthstone and a couple drain life… super easy

Killed him on a 66 affliction warlock with a voidwalker, a healthstone, and a lot of patience as my dots ticked down. Died once when I forgot to switch my voidwalker to the adds to get them off me.

Then I did the quest again on a 42 destruction warlock to help a friend’s lock phase back into the Faire to get the hidden grimoire. My chaos bolts made short work of the guy and I just kept rain of fire up to kill the adds.

Listening to my friends doing the quest, demo locks are having the hardest time, affliction is touch and go, and destruction is the way to be just to get it done. I have the Harvester title and will openly admit it took me 36 tries. You got this, just keep at it.

Don’t forget, too, you have a banish option if the bigger demons get overwhelming! Gate, teleport, healthstone, have your soulstone on, keep your voidwalker tapped up. Line of sight the seed of destructions with the pillars in the area, too.

Literally still insanely so dumb. I guess certain level ranges its just impossible scaling. Ive done it on a previous lock but currently attempted around 33 and its literally impossible. Such garbage questd and scaling. Blizz is so ridiculous. 20 year old game and still has trash like this
