Loot drought in SE

The bosses in Scarlet enclave need to drop an additional item (token / off piece /chalice) etc.

The tuning was wild and it’s killed so many guild raids. We appreciate the recent changes, however, you still have a large issue with artificial scarcity of loot.

All the orphans/alts trying to pug SE, or the guilds that had the deep rosters to continue, do so in raids of 30-35+ in order to PARTIALLY clear. With the current system many people haven’t seen ANY items outside their self farmed chalice.

How can you expect them to keep playing when the content is hard but effort required isn’t proportional to the rewards received. t3 was gutted and the new items are 4 times as rare (Half the bosses, nearly 2x the people and no bonus chests) and yet are required to kill the content.

It’s a really unfortunate way to prolong the end of SoD. Forcing people to self farm 2 set for 6 weeks, in order to see their first power spike, to then, MAYBE feel as strong as they were before the 4 set naxx nerf.

Increase drops or increase fragments from the weekly. Please do something.

Feels more Vanilla to me. More impactful rarer items rather than smaller upgrades and borrowed power and being done with a patch in 8 weeks.

reminder that Sentenza is a troll and always disagrees with whatever the OP posted.

Yes, 4 pieces of loot per boss feels kinda pathetic when Naxx had 5-6. There’s also significantly less bosses in SE which is even less loot.

This is not Vanilla.

You’re always advocating for this game to be as hard as possible. lol

Loot should be rare. The top players should have access to it first. Especially in the last raid of the last phase. No more participation trophies and fully geared rat-alts in one run.

There is a big difference between instagearing rats week one and being 3 lockouts in with zero loot

21 boss kills on 2 characters, not a single piece of gear.

Instead of having us earn more loot from boss kills, they drop less loot than nax and we get a free welfare piece of gear every 3 weeks.

Sounds like you would support removing free welfare tier and make bosses drop 1 more piece of tier each.

I thought one of the appealing features of sod was that it was alt friendly to allow players the necessary time to try out all the new class changes and stuff.

Mage heals, that sounds awesome. Rogue tank? Cool dude. Ret paladins and Druid specs are viable in season of discovery!?! Hell yes. Shamans? Paladins? Melee hunters? The list goes on.

The appeal of this iteration of wow is that it’s accessible to people to experience the new changes in their entirety, not contend with overtuned mechanics and sparse loot, especially when we have been trying to stick to a 20 man roster and all of a sudden need 30+ to clear. Thats not good design, objectively. If they’re not going to increase the loot, then bring the raid in line with 20 players on par with other raid difficulty and slightly beef it up as it’s the last raid of the game.

Anyone advocating for anything else has either a lot of time on their hands, not interest in alts, trolling, or some combination. Our getting more loot off the bosses does not impact your fun in the slightest, does it?

For the moment I’m still waiting to see how this plays out as we clear more of the raid each week. Obviously killing 1-2 bosses initially doesn’t get many people loot, but with getting a tier piece every 3 weeks, the loot being more scarce than Naxx might feel okay?

I’ll wait and see. For the moment seeing SE loot on people is noticeable which is cool, just need to see how this feels when we have the place on farm.

I can obviously math this out but rather than something helpful you get my ramblings and feelings on this matter instead

I don’t care what you do. If you want to pretend you have 6-pc I don’t care whatever fantasy you may up in your head.

That said, I care about my own experience and how the game is tuned for me and I personally enjoy the slower trickle and the big power spikes. With 5/8 on farm on my main and my alt raids I can be sure I will slowly get the gear and see those gains.

The coolest part of the hard modes was seeing all that extra loot drop and having that one thing you wanted, finally drop. It’s a good feeling. It feels horrible when you down 4 bosses each week and they never drop a single piece of tier for certain classes. It’s unfun and it’s tiring. One of the main reasons you go do this content is for loot, getting loot is fun. Getting the same garbage every single week will burn people out faster than the alternative.

You now have bigger raids with more people competing for significantly less loot.

Thats like getting drunk on low interest rates for 20 years and suddenly they triple. Only this is a game people pay to have fun in, so just give the majority of people what they want. This won’t hurt the people that argue the opposite point.

This raid is supposed to last for many months.

As you said, gear is a motivating factor to playing this game. Give it away too quick and the content falls off. Note that it will take until week 13 for many players to get their lightforged iron, and ideally players get at least a handful of resets with Ashbringer after they finish it.

You shouldn’t be anywhere near BIS even after let’s say 8 resets if we want to make that a reality. Let’s not have a repeat of the failed ST (loot too generous for the tier run time).

This has been an issue for most of SoD. I really wish they’d stick to just letting a token be a token. I absolutely agree this can feel comically bad. Even when it distributes evenly it’s still more noticeable to a player when it is not their token than when it is, so a player will just be sighing every time a boss dies. It really never made sense to me that they even messed with Gnomer removing class restrictions and went back. It was clearly better for loot angst issues

This is where I will disagree though, I do go for loot but as long as someone I raid with gets it it’s a good thing to me. Being happy for others makes raids go a lot further. Their DPS increase does benefit me, and I no longer compete with them on that item if it was something I wanted anyway.

So the tier thing I agree on. By the end of each phase it just results in one token having 2-3 sets and 1 token having everyone angsty and still on their first set. That part is just stupid. But as for the amount of loot, as long as this isn’t Vanilla where we’re DEing all of it I’m generally okay.

I’m excited for our first iconic weapon! Would love to see a boulder sword or mirage staff running around our raid team

2 months after a raid is released, people shouldn’t be anywhere near BiS? Go play a warrior on anniversary. They have exactly what you’re looking for. This hasn’t been the case for a single raid so far in sod.

You actually think the ST phase failed because it gave too much loot? The caster loot was less than a 1% increase over gnomer. The phase went on for 3 months. incursions sucked. Cata released during this phase. The raid was not very fun and had too much trash. Had nothing to do with loot being too generous.

Yes. People got loot way too quickly and had almost literally nothing to look forward to from the raid other than Drake off-hands and a handful of epic weapons.

The loot was also not impactful as well, but those things kind of go together - too much loot usually means it can’t be too strong and so it doesn’t feel exciting.

I think the loot being not impactful was more detrimental than “too much” loot.
They literally had to go back and make the items better, granted a bit too late, it was the point where i quit for a bit.
Do you hate fun?

Do you? You seem to want to quit SoD in a hurry.

What is the point of getting a full set of scarlet gear just to quit after getting it?
You keep saying that the instant people get their 6/6 or more they will quit the game and will never log on. I just don’t understand the logic here.
You know people can have alts? Or god forbid people want to experiment with the builds from new items they got without waiting for 3 months to get a specific item.
If i wanted to spend months to get the items i need to play the game properly I would go play vanilla warrior, but i don’t, because it is not fun for me. It may be fun for you, which is okay.
Getting items in a reasonable timeframe is not a bad thing.

Idk about you but my friends and I are more likely to quit after 2 months of raiding and not even having our 4 set bonus than if we had full 6pc tier in less than a month. The raid becomes infinitely more fun once you get full tier and some powerful gear and can start cranking pushing parses/speed clears.

Makes no sense. I want my 6/6 so I can go into the raid each week and pump. Not so I can quit the game sooner.
