Loot Council in a guild raid is terrible. That is all.
For a group of 40 equal people it should just be open rolls or some kind of point system outside of specific MT loot that is needed. I would rather lose 100 rolls straight and know I have a chance at loot vs not being 1 of the clique that gets the first 8 pieces guaranteed.
It’s almost as bad as classic groups reserving loot.
Feeding loot to your most dedicated, and consistent, raiders has always made sense. Even in a DKP style system, this is how it would go down.
In any non-roll loot system, you are rewarded for your time. In DKP, you get points for it. In loot council, you are recognized for your contributions and given loot accordingly. DKP is more impersonal, loot council requires a more engaged officer corp.
If you feel your guild is abusing the nature of loot council, it’s probably not the guild for you.
Loot councils should prioritize MT/OT and main healers. then the raiders that have good attendance/raid contribution, then the people just coming along. That way the core guys get geared, dont need the gear in future runs and allows the loot from future runs to get distributed evenly to everyone else.
Its efficent and smart. People are just selfish, like OP.
Yep, I remember loosing out on Circlet of the Mindflayer for a 100% attendance/top performance mage I raided with for one of our Priest’s alt Priest she had to gear up in case we needed her to go Shadow for some reason… Loot council trumped my DKP.
The problem isn’t the council but who runs it. Done well should maximize raid overall progression. The problems appear when it’s use to benefit a few over the rest.
Yes, the people who dont show up every raid and dont do much for the guild in terms of progressing are people.
But I personally think if Bobby the mage shows up every week, brings consumables, knows how to play his class and is generally helpful to everyone in the raid, he should not lose a tier piece he needs to Jimmy the mage, who is spotty on attendance, forgets to repair, doesnt play his class to its potential and isnt very helpful.
Call me selfish if you want but that doesnt make sense to me.
EDIT: if you think all 40 people in the raid put in the same amount of effort to make that raid happen, youre delusional.
Why would there be a group of 40 equal people? What makes them equal?
You’re definitely entitled to your opinion on Loot Councils and I am not here to tell you you are wrong. I think it’s up to you, your guild or whatever group you choose to run with to make those decisions.
I do not think though that hierarchies do not exist. They do.
That the issue with where I am at. It is a set raid roster so everyone is dedicated and consistent. I agree with it not being a guild for me, but, I am unfortunately on a low pop alliance server with no other highly active guilds. I am the top healer 9/10 fights in MC and have 0 loot through 3 weeks. Can’t say the same for the main group clique who is actively middle of the pack-bottom. Frustrating is all and it’s all starting to unravel in gchat / discord after each raid.
Yes, I am the top healer 90% of fights throughout 3 weeks and have received 0 loot while bottom feeder healers are getting some because of beings part of the in circle…
