A few games have such an option on hardcore style deaths.
By having it be a mutual friend requirement with a toggle, can’t see people killing people to abuse it.

i was thinking the same thing last night when playing… it would be cool to loot other players for pick an item or coins but realized how that can be exploited by having someone be in full raid gear and sell off thier corpse for easier twnking

i like this idea. at first i thought of people dropping everything they’re carrying, including gold, but then the letting of people die would take over, knowing the mindsets of most of these players. a party or raid feature would make it more friend based like you mentioned.
another feature i wish they did was make our bank account wide, like diablo. as a diablo fan, i’m so used to keeping everything in the bank but the bare minimum on me so that when i died, i had backup gear in the bank- alt gear as well if lucky enough with drops.
