So you know how the gold inflation is going to be a few years from now? Share your secrets with us, oh wise one! Should we sell all we have now when it’s worth a lot or sell it later?? What will stocks be worth then? Tell me the lottery numbers too!
We should start a top 3% movement and protest against those wealthy players. Wealth tax will fix them.
I’d never pay 5 mil for a mount with something my WoD garry already has…
But I’d pay something large for the paladin flail that was part of mage tower… /cry
If you started a well-constructed thread with this crazy talk in it you’d probably start a huge thing, tbh.
First off gold has done nothing but become less valuable every year, there has been nothing to indicate this trend will change.
The devs do know that the future of gold inflation will be, they know what their plans for gold production and gold sinks are going to be. The devs know and they are the ones that decided to remove the mount.
Uh, no, gold was huge in WoD/Legion and BfA was designed as a gold sink. Gold got a LOT more valuable this xpac because so many things drained it out. I personally think that makes the game much less “fun” and this is one of the big reasons BfA took a monster hit in the face vs the success of WoD and Legion.
Okay…
So why does it have to be removed then? If they are never going to get it anyways.
Just because a small number of people have it in no way means that people don’t plan to get it or want it. Many players don’t enjoy actively farming for gold or playing the AH. Since everyone originally assumed the mount would be on the vendor permanently there was no rush so they could slowly save gold over time and try to get it.
People may have been spending time/money on other mounts as well, leaving the more expensive one for last. BFA has many expensive mounts and has (for a lot of people) not been a good expac for earning gold. the frogs cost 300k a piece, the palehide direhorn is 500k and rep mounts added in 8.2 cost about 90k a piece. Getting all of those is close to 2mil right there.
Not everyone has time enough to spend time pursuing everything they want at once, but that doesn’t mean they won’t get to it eventually
Stealing this gif in the extermely off chance it might soften the cruel, dinosuar hating hearts of the blizz devs
3% of the population owns any of TCG mounts too. 97% of the player base will never be able to afford it. 97% of the player base has a whole year to farm the gold.
They either removed it in the hopes that people would scramble to buy it before next year, or they removed it so they can add yet another 5 mil mount in the next expansion - which still doesn’t make sense. Leave both of the huge gold sinks in so people can have more things to dump their gold into instead of just the one. Given the trend of insanely expensive rep mounts, they’re intending on adding more and more sinks, so there’s no reason to take this one specific one out.
Now that we can buy gold straight from them instead of shady Chinese companies, the thought is always going to be in the back of my mind every time they jack the prices of cosmetics up in game. “Are they just doing this so people will buy more gold?”
Anyway, the point of my original comment was, you have no idea whether any of us would have been able to afford it later. I never thought I would have enough to buy the yak, but I got it a couple expansions later. I got the mammoth later. I managed to save up enough to get the lightforged armor mount at the end of Legion, which was the most gold I’ve ever had on me at once. I would have been able to save enough for this mount at some point and I was looking forward to it, it’s a cool mount.
But it’s not being removed from the game. You’ll still be able to buy it at the BMAH.
To be fair, outrage over the outrage is just as silly.
I don’t think anyone ever really has any outrage over the outrage crowd being outraged.
Only for people that don’t know how to make gold. If you cannot make gold in this environment then you were never going to be able to accumulate enough gold to afford this mount. There is enough time by the next expansion to earn (not buy) gold for this mount if you know how.
And besides, the mount is suppose to be a prestige mount. I would hate to see what happened to the yak and tundra mounts happen to this mount.
I was aiming to be in the 1%, but I’m okay with the 3%
Once every blue moon at 10m gold.
I compare it to when we found out about flying being taken out of the game in WoD pre Pathfinder.
We had to find out via an outside source and like this issue we didn’t hear from Blizz until they got called out on it.
I’m one of the 3% be jealous
A fellow 3%er, how goes it? It feels good up here.
I have both of those mounts
