Because
One word: Activision
If you’re close to getting the mount then you have a year to get it.
If you’re not lets face it you would never have the gold anyways.
You’re just hoping for massive inflation in 5 years.
So much this. I can’t bring myself to care that they’re removing the mount. Not only is it not a mount I’m interested in, but damn… if you’re going to get it, you’ve got time. If you suddenly want to get it, you’ve got time. If you were never going to get it, there’s no issue if they remove it.
I just… don’t see the issue here.
I can accept some mild irritation for the change in routine and lack of consistency… otherwise, yeah, I don’t know why people are so mad.
Everything they’ve done in this game for the first time is unprecedented. Flying? Unprecedented in Classic. Paladins on Horde and Shamans on Alliance? Unprecedented in Classic. Pathfinder? Unprecedented all the way through MoP. Panda race? Unprecendented. Changing raids from 40 to 25. Adding difficulties. Addin’g LF tools. Ilvl… etc… All of that was unprecedented… until it wasn’t.
You know this is coming. You didn’t know it was coming when it was first introduced, did you? You didn’t know any of those changes were coming out until they did and/or a blue post, right?
This is horse crap, if I want to grind out the gold required to buy one of these I should have the option, regardless of the patch number. Now you’re creating this artificial scarcity bullcrap essentially forcing me to buy your tokens.
This is a shakedown plain and simple. When I bought BFA, the mount was a feature, you’re taking it away to make more money. Shameless Blizz.
At ~180k per token… assuming 0 currently owned gold is used, leads to 28 tokens to buy the mount. Which leads to $560 USD. Which means to have “millions” would take 3,571+ people buying enough tokens to facilitate your “millions” in token sales.
Good luck with that many people doing that.
60% of what you just cited were ADDITIONS to the game. What are you even going on about?? Your agument in support of this is “nobody knew about flying in 2004”. Galaxy-level thinking on display here.
The removal of the Brutosaur is incredibly asinine and greedy. It’s pretty obvious that this is being done to facilitate more token sales and with no regard to the actual players and how we feel.
Also it’s mean
were you going to?
Was that on your realistic goals list?
I personally never cared about the “function” of the brutosaur. I wanted that look. I figured it would take me a few expansions to save up the gold, but it was something I thought I could do.
Now I find out I’ll never be able to get it, and that honestly makes me question all the other “goals” I’ve been working toward in this game. Why bother doing anything in this game anymore? I’ve got lots better things to work towards in real life–and I’ll have lots more time to work on them if I stop playing WoW.
Good strategy, Blizz.
No one buying things in COD?
This is patently untrue. I’m not “close” to getting the mount, but I’m on track for the amount of time I budgeted to earn it. A year is out of the question for me, but four years wasn’t. Now I won’t have the time I needed, so I won’t be getting the mount.
That in itself isn’t a really big deal, but the whole scummy way this has come about is. Every time I decide they didn’t really mean for things to come out this way, or I make excuses for Blizzard’s decisions, they turn around and make another excruciatingly horrible change with no warning. Every time they do something like this, they lose more subscriptions. It’s not the mount (or flying, or master loot, or squishes, or anything else), it’s Blizzard’s behavior that makes people finally give up.
I’m actually starting to wonder what will be the straw that breaks my subscription?
I mean, really, I don’t even get that.
I think it’s just outrage for the sake of outrage, because it’s the “cool thing” to be outraged at Blizzard lately.
Removing content for no good reason usually does that.
Maybe you should read more of the replies that explain people’s feelings on this matter. I’m personally not “outraged” at all. It’s more on the lines of disappointed, disillusioned, and disgusted. As for being “cool”–well that would be a first time for me, that’s for sure.
They only brought it up after it was datamined and people asked them about it. We have no idea when they actually planned to make the announcement on their own. This isn’t something that we should have to pry out of them. Stop excusing their abysmal communication.
Seriously, you are making a smaller deal out of this than it is.
Different people have different priorities.
If it were truly so easy for everyone to earn gold, the wow token would be far above 200k.
I don’t consider a purchasable mount “content” really, in the same way that no one considered a SELFIE camera “content” back in WoD.
I have. I still think it’s just outrage for the sake of outrage. I have no empathy for people upset that a mount is getting removed. I mean, really, I have no empathy for people who actually get upset at anything in WoW. This is a video game, to be played for entertainment. If it’s not entertaining you, find something else that does. This is not something you should get upset at in, really, any way.
It seems we agree on something at any rate.
