Looks Like the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur might Be Unobtainable In 9.0.1 (Part 1)

so, i guess all other dinosaur mounts will be disappearing?

… or is it just the one with the massive price tag in an underhanded way to milk the player base for money?

Based on it being the right thing to do. They should have decided if it was going to be limited time at the very start instead of doing so near the end of the expansion.

What they should have learned is to communicate early and communicate often. We shouldn’t have to live in fear that the devs might decide to remove something.

But it’s not a full year, stop repeating that nonsense. And it is a complete failure when they only bring it up after someone questioned them about it. There was no indication that they were going to say anything on their own any time soon.

Because it’s shady and unprofessional.

My opinion is that they should be significantly better at communicating. You seem to be just fine with them pulling the wool over your eyes.

Big purchases like this don’t actually make good gold sinks. Things like costs to respec azerite traits will take more gold out of the economy cause more people do it and it’s not a one time purchase.

putting it on the BMAH makes it an even worse gold sink. It will only rarely come up and when it does only one person will be able to buy it. So lets say 1 day it’s available and 3 people are trying to buy it. Even if its price gets pushed to the cap, that’s 10mil. If it was available as it is now blizz couldve pulled 15mil from the economy.

This effect will only get worse over time as more people would be willing and able to buy it but it would only rarely be available. So there’s a lot of potential buyers who wouldn’t be spending their money because there’s virtually no supply. So at most it breaks even as a gold sink if there are 2 buyers AND it gets pushed to the max price (not guaranteed to get that high). If there’s less than 2 buyers then its price definitely won’t be raised that high and if there’s 3+ buyers it loses out significantly as far as being a better gold sink.

Just because people may not have it now doesn’t necessarily mean they dont want it. Maybe they don’t enjoy grinding for gold or playing the AH. However, if they thought it was permanent, they could slowly save up over a long period of time.

I don’t play the AH at all but I got it cause I like dinosuars and troll themed stuff

Also with the BMAH that still virtually unavailable for a lot of people. Not everyone has time to watch and wait out the times. It also is very unlikely that it will come up very often and even when it does only 1 person on that server will be able to get it. Some people may work on the day it happens to be sold on the BMAH.

Being only on the BMAH is not that far off from being completely unavailable. Implying people shouldn’t be upset cause “its not removed it’s just on the BMAH” is, IMO, not a fair argument cause it really is such a drastic change in availability

Ok, you are entitled to your opinion.

Actually it is just a little over halfway through.

You shouldn’t be living in fear of anything in game. But if you want something it should be relatively evident to go for it and not count on it sticking around.

IT COULD BE LONGER, you have NO IDEA when. I might also be shorter, but probably at LEAST 10-12 months.

This seems like a legitimate gripe. Unless this decision was only just made and so they are letting people know now.

So because you don’t like it, there is nothing shady or unprofessional about giving folks about a year’s notice about a change to a mount almost the entire population of the game will never own. Unless you believe some of these tinfoil hat theories about it.

They didn’t pull any wool over my eyes, i already have the mount. And i still wouldn’t be upset if they changed it and i didn’t own it with almost a year to go, it would have lit a fire under my butt to get it done. Easily plenty of time if you are interested in it.

I absolutely think that this was a decision made by Activision, just like how when Activision had control over Destiny and Destiny 2, there was that “one year exclusivity deals with Sony” thing complete with streams that were seemingly aimed at flaunting all of the stuff Xbox players would never get to enjoy while it was current content.

I don’t think any video game developer in the right mind would devise the removal of the most expensive vendor item in the game with the apparent intention to sell tokens and such.

From a game development standpoint, it doesn’t make any sense to suddenly decide to remove the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur mount from normal vendors.

From business executive’s standpoint, removing the 5 million gold mount from normal vendors means potential increase of token sales.

As I mentioned before, this is part of a disturbing trend with WoW regarding FOMO sales tactics. It started with the sudden removal of items from the Shop last year, then continued with the sudden and poorly-announced removal of the old RAF rewards, and now they are doing it again with the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur (and again, the effective removal of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur was a poorly-announced move).

They keep doing this over and over again. I’d be willing to assume that the availability of the Shadowlands Epic Edition items will be time-limited too, and that the Epic Edition upgrade/items will be suddenly removed from the Shop without much warning after Shadowlands comes out.

There’s surely better ways to make money off of WoW other than doing ridiculous things to try to make people spend hundreds of dollars because of decisions to suddenly remove stuff from the game that costs a lot of money, like the old RAF rewards and the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur.

I don’t see how these kinds of sales tactics are going to maintain long-term healthy sales for WoW. These seem like short-sighted sales tactics that will just lead to “boom-and-bust” kinds of financial situations.

People are using words like “make” and “have” when it comes to their options on spending real money to get this mount.

Make no mistake this decision isn’t forcing anyone to spend a dime on anything. If they do it, that is their choice, nobody made them do anything.

An entirely useless thing to post, not worth the time making it…or really, replying to it.

We have to stop excusing Blizzard for their allegedly “greedy” behaviour, thinking it comes from Activision or something else. It is entirely on them, THEY are the ones that want this, THIS is Blizzard.

I don’t know sometimes. I would believe you more if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s Blizzard that is sending me trash email about Call of Duty.

Even if this isn’t actually a token sales-driven tactic, it ends up looking like one because of how much gold you would need to have to get the mount. It’s bad publicity either way.

The reception over the news of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur’s removal is overwhelmingly negative. That doesn’t look like good publicity to me.

Activision has reportedly gained some level of control over Blizzard, though. I don’t know if it’s true or not, though.

I suspect that it was an executive decision rather than a dev decision regarding the mount, though.

how about adding in another version of the model without the stupid auction house on it?

i never wanted the auction house, YOU people put the dumb thing on it, i just wanted the dinosaur mount. yet because y’all had to go put an auction house on it, you made it obscenely expensive.

it doesn’t matter if the AH version goes away, IF they put in another version without an AH that’s somewhat decently affordable. it’s just not fair that single instance of the mount is the only one that will seemingly ever exist, when there’s several other colors of the brutosaur.

I agree but they aren’t making anyone spend money. I think it’s shady and really an ugly look for them, but I also think it’s hilarious that some people just can’t help themselves and will either gladly or begrudgingly pay up and go about their business like it’s just a bit of an MTX like any other.

And my opinion is that they should be holding themselves to a higher standard. You seem to be just fine with them wallowing in the mud.

Halfway through was three months ago. The expansion will most likely be over by September or October.

We don’t know what might get removed, and Blizz doesn’t like to communicate things with us. That’s not good game design. FOMO should be something that is despised by devs and gamers alike.

The Shadowlands store page says “on or before December 31, 2020”. The page for BfA said “on or before September 21, 2018” and the BfA pre-expansion patch went live on July 19, 2018.

They should have announced it at the start of the expansion. And again, it’s going to be less than a year until the Shadowlands pre-patch.

Not everyone will be able to get it in that time frame. And again, the BMAH barely qualifies as “available”.

Ion would, but he’s not in his right mind. He’s had several significant failures and seems to only get promotions and raises. He obviously has dirt on folks on top. Only way you can be that bad at your job and getting constant praise. 90% sure Ion gets off to upsetting players. He makes bank no matter what happens to WoW.

He’ll always have a place as long as Blizzard exists because of the dirt he has. It must be pretty big dirt too. If only I had it. I’d use that power to make wow and bliz better, not worse. But he’s a sadists. Sadists do as sadists do. Honestly I’d move him to hearthstone if I could change one thing about bliz.

All y’all think it’s activision and in truth it’s Ion who might be more evil then Sylvanas and N’zoth combined. Ion is the one who pushed virtually every bad/poorly received major change. Pathfinder? That was him. Most of the devs don’t like a lot of these things. Especially pathfinder is unpopular. But what Ion wants, goes. He is basically become the God of Blizzard. Wouldn’t be suprised if this comment nets me a forum ban. Can’t be informing the masses now can we?

Missing Ghostcrawler is a weird feeling. Ghostcrawler was hit or miss. Ion is all miss. I’d say 9/10 players could be given 100% control over WoW would do better than Ion. Ion’s goal is clearly to upset the masses. The proof is in the pudding.

Imagine the devs free of him. Free to create a game of their passions rather then making the other devs hate their job and life. A girl can dream, a girl can dream. We’d need a god to intervene at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ion is the devil himself.

Out of curosity, do people actually ride that monstrosity or just use it for the ah? Doesn’t seem very practical to ride around on.

Strange that you took the time to reply to it then.

Your opinion is they should be holding themselves to YOUR standard, not necessarily a “higher” standard. If you think they are in the mud then you have nothing to be surprised or upset about. That is entirely a you thing.

Using your math, BfA would be out for 26 months by Octorber next year, it has been out for 15 months now and has 11 months more to go, so just over half way which would have been 2 months ago. More then likely we won’t see Shadowlands until November-December timeframe but it could be later or earlier, still just over halfway through BfA no matter how much outrage you need to have.

True enough.

Because almost a year isn’t enough time for them to communicate it to you apparently.

In your opinion, noted.

We aren’t talking about the pre-patch, not sure why you brought that up, doesn’t change or bolster your argument any. WC3 reforged was due months ago, never made it’s summer release. And as far as before December 21 2020, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t change and be later…it’s not written in stone.

In your opinion and no one cares about the pre-patch.

ANYONE can get it in this timeframe, they just have to put in the work to get it. Making gold is not hard in the game at all.

There is no barely, it either is or it isn’t. In this case it is available, just because you don’t like the method it’s available doesn’t mean it isn’t available.

5 mil takes a month to do if you dont want to hard core money farm go watch some w2bgold vids that will help

That’s how you get perma banned.

My standard isn’t unreasonable. Tell people stuff is limited time at the start of the expansion. You’re acting like I’m asking for the impossible.

There’s only one major patch left, we’re well over halfway through the expansion. And the time remaining isn’t really relevant no matter how much you say it is. They should have announced this at the start of the expansion.

Almost a year isn’t good enough. It should have been announced at the very start of the expansion. Stop making excuses for their lazy communication.

Why do you keep babbling that it’s my opinion? Of course it’s my opinion. You’re just saying that so you can avoid responding to what i said.

Not anyone and you know it. You’re just making excuses for a horrible decision.

This isn’t black and white. It will be barely available compared to now. It will rarely show up and only one person will be able to get it when it does show up. That is massively reduced availability compared to just being able to buy it from the vendor. Stop trying to act like the BMAH is a reliable source.
