Looks Like the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur might Be Unobtainable In 9.0.1 (Part 1)

Just sounds like water cooler talk to me. But even if a “higher up” gave him the go ahead to make the comment it’s nowhere near an official statement that the mass player base will see and be able to make a solid decision on how they want to act on it. Yes this is blizzards game. Yes they can do whatever they want. But in the end it’s a bad move on their part for faith from the players. The are banking I’m sure on getting those tokens sold. But in the long run it will probably damage them more so. But who knows I’m not their financial advisor on this. I just know the company and also activision have gotten tons of flack on many different things for a few years now. And it just seems like one bad move after another. I mean I’ll get my mount. I’m not worried about it personally. But others suffer and that sucks.

What it sounds like to you (or me, for that matter) is irrelevant.

You are correct, it isn’t really “official” in the strictest sense of the word, but a Blue post (reply, whatever) is a Blizzard communication, whether or not we find it “official”. Would it be nice to have something more “official”? Certainly! But that’s just not how Blizzard does things. We’re lucky to have gotten what we did get, which was more than just the original datamined info.

I completely agree that it is a bad move on their part…the removal of the mount and the lack of communication regarding it (considering that it wasn’t actually communicated by Blizz, “officially” or otherwise, but was datamined then clarified only because of that). I don’t think it has anything to do with Token sales, however. I just don’t think Tokens are purchased for BNet Balance nearly as often as they are to sell on the AH. Sure, there are a few who will fork over the nearly $800 to buy tokens for the mount (or who will buy a few to make up the difference), but it’s doubtful it will be as many as threads like this tend to claim.

Blizz (err… ActiBlizz) gets flack for all kinds of things. Things like this, the flack is legitimate and much deserved, but they get flack for silly things also. They will always get flack and I just don’t think they care either way.

I won’t get the mount. I won’t spend the cash for tokens nor will I spend my time getting gold in game any other way. I have other things to do that are much more fun (to me) than playing the AH or farming whatever I may be able to sell on how ever many toons I would have to do this on to earn 5M gold in less than a year. I hardly would consider myself “suffering” because I won’t get a mount with an AH on it.

I just hope they add this mount in game somewhere else without the vendor on it. But even if they don’t, and even if they were’t removing the mount from the current vendor, I wouldn’t ever get it (just like I will never get the 5M 2M -someone corrected me- gold Spider that is not available anywhere else).

:woman_shrugging:

I’m pretty sure the spider is only 2mil–unless inflation hit.

You, me, and at least half the posters in this thread. Let’s hope it happens, 'cause that’s the only way I’m getting a sauropod mount. :+1:

You could be right, I’ve really never paid attention. 500k is about my limit for mount cost, higher than that and I pass. It may as well be 10M if it’s above that ‘cause this Priest ain’t gettin’ it!

Personally I don’t mind them removing the AH vendor but I want them to keep a brutosaur mount in the game. Maybe when they remove the green one they can put in the white one. The white one should be a lower price of course because it won’t have a feat of strength nor will it have vendors.

That’s fair. See I’m coming from a very collector mindset in this game. As u can see my toon has many achieves. I like mounts very much also. I collect them. I’m currently at 447 I believe. But yeah I’ll get this mount before xpac. I’m at 3.5 mil. And like I mentioned before I had the gold a couple months back but wanted the tcg rooster mount. Someone had one for 5 million. So I bought that. Set me back. But yeah. I mean I bought the spider in legion also. I farmed a million gold alone in a week just farming ore in suramar. Killing basalisks and hoping realms. But those farming days are gone at the moment. But ehh

I’m not that far behind you (only about 2k points).

385 for me, and I have the 300 toy achievement (not too far from 400, but I can’t see the count in the Achieves tab), and 955 unique pets.

I get it, I’m a collector also. But there are just some things I find so not-fun I won’t do them regardless of the reward, and there are some things I just won’t spend the cash on. A $25 store mount? No problem, it’s mine! Farming a raid every week for years to get a drop? I’m on it! Farming gold for hours on end or dealing with the AH that I hate to even walk in to? Nope! No way, Jose! Not doing it! Spending ~$800 of my real money for pixels in a game I may stop playing someday? Nope! Never! Ain’t happening!

For folks who enjoy those things, or want it bad enough to spend that cash… More power to you! That’s amazing! You go, Boy (or Girl)!

For me… It’s just not happening, no matter how much I want that one more tick on my collection stick.

I never wanted this mount in the game to begin with personally. its a MMO that continually gives you less reasons to have to go to town and interact with anything or anyone. I know tons of people don’t feel the same way they want to sit in there hole and do everything without having to move but personally that type of game play burns me out and feels pointless much faster.

Then you clearly don’t understand what the job of the blues is. This isn’t just some random yahoo that works for Blizz. It isn’t getting info from the bag boy. It’s getting info from the official press dude at the grocery store. While their responsibilities vary, their entire job is communicating info from Blizzard. They do the blog posts, they post announcements and answer questions on the forums, they run the official Twitter account, they pass feedback along to the devs, they liason with fan sites, streamers, podcasters, etc. Unless it’s a silly thread like comparing whether one likes tea or coffee better, if it’s a blue post, it’s the official word from Blizz. In fact, part of the reason we don’t get anywhere near as many blue posts as we’d like is because they have to run what they’re going to say by the devs and get approval before they post about anything. Partly why GC was able to do so much communication is because he didn’t have to do nearly as much to find out what the official word was or get approval before he said stuff, given that he was in charge of a good chunk of the game.

They don’t have the authority to decide things, but if they say it’s so and there’s no correction within a short time, that pretty much indicates the company’s stance.

It really isn’t the only way. It is entirely doable to get the brutosaur. Main reason I came to the thread today was to post the following link, which has the info from a guy who started from scratch to get the brutosaur and has done so in four months. He even limited himself to an average of two hours a day. I’m sure his associated Twitch channel has more info as well. Point is, there are a lot of resources out there to help people get the mount if they want it. Lots of people, who only started trying as of the announcement in November, have gotten it. Sorry, can’t post links, so remove the spaces.

I don’t actually even have two hours to play every day. At this point, I’ve so lost interest in WoW (mostly through brutal disappointment) that I don’t think I’d want to play for two hours every day.

I was really trying for the mount earlier on. I didn’t care about the AH, I only wanted a big ol’ sauropod mount. Now, I just don’t care.

I feel like if Blizz does pay attention and makes a non-AH version available on the vendor, I’ll be lifted from the doldrums. But right now I’d rather draw, write, and play my instruments. I get much more satisfaction from those activities (not to mention income).

Yeah as the saying goes different strokes ya know? For some reason simple armory says I have less mounts than my statistics when I type in mounts owned in game. It says 447 in game. And toys I’m closing in on 500. Pets close to either 1300 or 1400.

So u have worked for blizzard or Atleast know someone who does I assume? So u think a vague cryptic reply by this oh so genuine “blue” is sufficient for the player base? Like I said he is nothing but an errand boy that probably isn’t actually saying what people think it is. He said it all cryptic so the company might be able to back out and anytime with less backlash on it on their end financially. They sent an errand boy to spread the word because they are afraid to make an official statement. Because it might affect them financially in a bad way. I don’t follow these forums enough to know one blue from another tbh. I’m not a fanboy like that. To me and most employees of the company other than the higher ups he is just another random person. He gets paid like any job and might get some nifty stuff from the company because he works there. U do realize a lot gm’s play the game amongst us right? And u do realize gm’s mess up a lot. Their service is bad now. They give generic replies. And half the time don’t even know what they are talking about and can’t give a solid answer to a dispute. Besides company policy or some dumb crap that makes no sense. I get it it’s their game. They can do what they want. But won’t be if they continue this trend

Well, I guess I’m not the only one who’s pretty much given up on this issue.

I’m still holding onto a thread of hope that they’ll at least give us a non-AH replacement when they remove the MCB from the vendors. That thread is getting thinner and thinner though.

Every time I log in lately, I end up asking myself why I bother. It used to be fun for me to work on goals that would take me more than one expansion to achieve. Now I feel like Blizzard doesn’t want my style of playing. It’s all “go, go, go!” “Beat that timer!” “Get it now, 'cause it’s going away soon!”

Bah.

I’m still holding out hope, but there’s really not a whole lot to say until Blizzard decides to say something more about the mount and any possible alternatives that have been discussed.

Yeah. I don’t think they’ll say anything. It’ll just happen, or it won’t.

As it is, this thread is the only indication that they’re removing the MCB from the vendor. If they’re not going to announce the removal, they’re not about to announce a replacement. Theoretically, they could not remove the mount (since they never “officially” announced it), but I don’t think anyone believes that’s going to happen.

(At this point, I almost want them to leave it in not because I want the mount, but because it would tick Yesuna off so much… Yeah, I’m bad like that.)

Can’t help myself.

I just want to be able to save up my gold for a nice sauropod mount. I don’t care about the dang AH. Blizz, couldn’t you at least tell us if you’re considering a non-AH option?

Oh, who am I kidding?

OMG Is this thing still on?

And so would a large number of players. I only buy tokens with gold, for gametime and blizz bucks to buy cool items I want from the store. Tokens do two things to me:

  1. I can actually play since I won’t give blizz another of my real dollars again.
  2. Everything from the store is now earnable through actual gameplay.

Others may have different opinions on tokens but for a lot of people they’re the only reason they are still playing.
I agree that the sneaky announcement on the brutosaur was wrong, but don’t turn it into a crusade against the tokens. :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

they already said it would be unobtainable after this expac when it was first announced.
