Looks Like the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur might Be Unobtainable In 9.0.1 (Part 1)

I wasn’t trying to pass any sort of judgement, just that it’s sad how hard life can be sometimes. One of my sons has a disability but he doesn’t let it slow him down in life nor is the family unit wallowing in misery, we’re just living life like anyone else.

I “climbed my mountain” raiding hardcore from vanilla to wotlk so continuing it more just felt pointless. I’ve always enjoyed the shop/business style game genre so ahing just came naturally and its a pvp version of those games to boot.

As for the topic at hand - Ahing well enough to get the bruto and maintaining a life balance IS an achievement, as much as a pvp/raid mount/title is anyways. The no life argument quite a few posters in this mega thread use doesn’t hold up when any other “prestigious” aspect of wow can be achieved if you beat your head on it long enough.

Then almost nothing in this game is prestigious anymore since nearly everything can be “bought”. lol

Indeed. It’s a game. But yes, because of that, the only things that could be considered prestigious would be solo gameplay only challenges, as one could be carried in a group, and account sharing is against the ToU. But once again, that’s only if you find things in a game prestigious.

So, you pretty much saw nothing prestigious in this game, ever, except for the mage tower last expansion, even though most of them were a joke at the release and all were a joke once someone was half geared and the warlock green fire quest the first few days before players were half geared? That’s it?

The mount is prestigious once 9.0.1 comes and it no longer obtainable; it is prestigious not because it was “hard” to get, only partly because it was either time consuming to get or you had the real life money to buy it (such as myself), but the main reason it is prestigious is because will no longer be obtainable from the vendor (only the black market auction house).

I never said I saw them as prestigious. However what you imply is kind of correct. Anyone can buy a carry, and anyone can buy gold. I would actually somewhat see the brutosaur as more prestigious if they had no time limit on it. That would mean someone having it is more likely a result of lots of farming/selling, as opposed to just buying tokens because it’s the fastest way.

There is so, so much sarcasm that it oozes out and solidifies on my monitor…

Who the heck is getting whispers for this thing? And who is sending them?

Also, pretty much at 4 million now.
Still don’t see how this is “hard” and worthy of praise. The hardest part of this is dealing with people crashing markets because they’re scrambling to get this thing right now.

You’re correct; it’s nonsense that people are getting hundreds of whispers of admiration.

I bought the Brutosaur when it first became available, and have used it many times each day since, on the dozens of different realms I have alts on. The nearest I’ve had to complements has been players asking where they could get one. They were not at all complementary when I told them what it cost - they were obviously unimpressed that anyone would spend 5 million on a mount.

I have had dozens of other players comment. Most begging for gold, and a few being abusive.

None of that surprised or bothered me. This is just a game that I play for fun, and I bought the Brutosaur because having it is fun. Prestige is not a thing in my eyes. The things I’m proud of in this life are the times I’ve been able to help other people. The people I respect are those who do good and help others because that is their nature, not the people temporarily in control of material - or pixelated - goods.

Hello blizzard,

I just wanted to reach out to you once more to say that I do not agree or support your decision to move the brutosaur mount to the BMAH.

Thank you,
Fezzy

Players created this problem by purchasing in-game mounts with real money through Tokens.

This is YOUR FAULT.

Maybe in the future players will act on their principals rather than for instant gratification.

Paying MONEY for in game content, and you’re pointing your finger at Blizzard smh

That is where you’re wrong…I am like this myself…Disabled Navy Vet in full pain day in day out…I use WoW as a esacpe from the pain…and like that other person I got my Dino day 1 of BfA going live…there are many disabled players that play with all kinds of time on their hands.

And you guys bragging about how your disability let you get the brutosaur because of “time” is somehow indicative that:

  1. This is regular and the norm for the playerbase.
  2. Isn’t downright offensive to other disabled people who aren’t sitting around bragging about their free time and how that entitled them to “prestige”.

He’s not wrong.
And frankly, I am still embarrassed people are pulling the “I’m disabled and got it because I literally do nothing but play this game” card is being pulled.

You guys are not the norm, and the way you guys are putting it is downright shameful to the rest of us with disabilities. The game shouldn’t cater to people who don’t have jobs, and this is coming from somebody who couldn’t get one for years and used to have that mindset.

How is 2 people with a similar situation out of thousands proof that I am wrong? At the risk of using a no true Scotsman I’d call you 2 farmers rather than ah goblins. One of the main phrases for ah goblins is “time is money friend” and gold per hour is a big deal. Anyone can grind/bash their head on something for 20 hours a day and achieve victory, its another to strategically grow your gold pile through flipping/shuffling/predictive investments and use your active play time to its maximum potential.

Shirt, no-one is insulting you, and Moused was obviously not boasting about her situation. She was simply being her usual kind and sweet self, empathising and stating it like it is.

As for my original post, which seems to have caused an eruption of vitriol within your poor soul, I really expected you, at least after other posters pointed it out, to understand my use of irony.

irony

  1. the expression of one’s meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

“‘Don’t go overboard with the gratitude,’ he rejoined with heavy irony”

I do believe that, in fact, you’re being extremely condescending, especially with you - and others - pushing a (close to) infinite amount of game-time as being an acceptable metric for how suddenly time-gated rewards should be based.

Besides the fact, your tone and overall use of exasperated language has shown to me a passion; you’re insulted that people think that perhaps pointing out that 12+ hours of game-time a day, something I have done in the past because I too was bedbound and unable to do anything, is entirely unacceptable! People pointing out that people without jobs are not, and should never be, put into the equation of rewards and expected game-time, have a point; especially when somebody has been in that boat before, and may be so in the future. In fact, such an opinion probably weighs more heavily as seeing things from multiple points of view is absolutely required in game design. If not, things start tipping out of scale, and the player-base becomes jaded and divided - such as been happening in this very thread for months.

To say I’m a “poor soul” is an actual insult - show of actual immaturity in the face of debate, and quite frankly, means that you’re the one that’s jaded that I’ve pointed out some rather obvious facts. And I do not hold my tone back when it comes to stigmas against players with disabilities; something which two people so far have done recently.

tl;dr:
Stop acting like this, please. And don’t actually use personal insults while you’re at it.

I knew it was sarcasm at sentence #2. I’m unsure how anyone could possibly think it was serious. It is oozing so much sarcasm I had to wipe it off with a roll of paper towels.

Me thinks you take things way too seriously, My Sweet! Lighten up! :grinning:

This is obviously ridiculous, and when I first heard about this all I could think was

“I’m never buying a WoW token again”.

As an investor in ATVI stock, as well, this has left me double disappointed.

whens the last time you had someone show respect to a player for having a vendor kodo mount? It doesnt work that way. Remember, at one point, owning a car was prestigious. Now everyone and their grandma has a car.
