I theoretically could still earn this mount if I spent all my time doing nothing but farming gold. But I have other things I’d rather be doing in game–and in real life. Removing this mount from the vendors so that folks who make long-term goals are SOL is just plain obnoxious.
Again, putting one or more non-AH models on the vendors would go a long way toward righting this travesty (though leaving the MCB alone would be even better).
I’ve already started doing this with my own alts, since I’ve always been crap at playing the AH but I do have a small army of one of each class at 120 bc of Legion and a few scattered others. However I’ve only been able to run HFC on each one because of time restrictions.
That’s ultimately what it boils down to, time. On average each full run of all three difficulties of HFC ran me about 1.5 hours, maybe a bit less on a speedy class like monk or druid. So if I do it on twelve alts a week that takes at least 18 hours a week just running the same old raid. That’s like a part time job.
Still, I get about 12k from just HFC though, multiply that by 12 alts that’s 144k a week. I’m starting off with around 1.5 million gold so I could reach the 5 mil by about July, riiiiiight before Shadowlands launches assuming we get an August/September launch like the last few expansions. That’s cutting it real close though.
I have too many more important things on my plate to justify spending that much time just farming gold. For me that time is better used practicing my instruments and working on my art and writing (my jobs). It sucks that there are only 24 hours in a day.
My only hope for a brutosaur mount is in Blizzard doing the right thing and putting a plain version on the vendors when they remove the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur. But I’m still in awe of the folks who are working on getting this mount before the deadline. You guys are amazing.
Yesuna would argue that water doesn’t make you wet. It is nice that they keep bumping the thread, though.
Also on topic; Remove the AH brutosaur? Great, but put a new one in its stead. Otherwise, have future purchases come with no NPCs. Two easy solutions. But we had solutions for the water strider debacle they didn’t listen to. Eventually the devs will be the only ones still playing, I guess, save perhaps legacy server players.
Nothing should EVER be removed from a MMO world. If someone 10 years later wants to go work on a legendary that was the big thing before they even started playing; let them. If someone wants to grind that rep for a pet 3 xpacs later; they should be able to. Want to clear that raid for transmogs even though you’re double it’s level; Go for it.
Get everything you want now or never get it. This is a harbinger of things to come. You have been warned.
Slinks off into the shadows whispering “nobody knows what we lose next”
This is why I suggest having the gold price scale to the golf cap just for this mount instead. So it is still a goal for people to reach. It is a very cool mount. And if commonality is the problem this would help justify it’s implementation. And wouldnt make players feel rushed to do it. And ability to pay for them via tokens be available all the time (not force someone to make a rash decision, but save up gold and cash if they want to).
I highly doubt the removal is for token sales. That market (who would be willing to shell out RL money for gold just for this mount is tiny, compared to all the players who would be aggravated by the removal.
The most likely reason… is that there will be another mount in Shadowlands which does Auc plus something else for more money… Who, wanting AH would bother with it, when there is a cheaper version in BFA? So yer, not creating demand for tokens, but prolly for the AH mount MkII.
No. They’ve stated their reason right here in this thread:
They simply don’t want there to be a lot of AH mounts running around. There’s no way they’ll be making another one at any price. The Mighty Caravan Brutosaur will be moved to the Black Market AH where it will sell for gold cap whenever it comes up. That’s Blizzard’s way of “removing” it without actually removing it.
It’s not like folks really ride the things around anywhere. OTOH, they do like to just sit on mailboxes and generally clog things up.
I still would like Blizz to put a non-AH version on the vendors. It doesn’t have to be as big as the MCB if that’s a problem. I just want to have a Brutosaur mount I can work for and buy from a vendor.
You are such a sweet, trusting person to believe a Public Relations statement like that. I hope you have someone slightly more skeptical around to advise you on major purchases, such as buying bridges.
Heh. I guess you haven’t looked at much of my post history.
My point was that their stated reason is they don’t want too many AH mounts. Whether or not this is the real, or only, reason they’ve decided to remove the MCB from the vendors is irrelevant. Now that they’ve said it, they have to stick to their guns and not make another AH mount.
Well, I’m well on my way to the mount now, but I’m not going to lie how much the gold making regimen is causing mounting (ah-Ha!) dissatisfaction with the overall gaming experience in WoW.
Just having a concrete end date, or even a 30 - 60 day window, would lessen the pressure.
To hit my goals for this mount I need to farm, at minimum, 1hr a day. Work the AH at minimum 4 time in a cycle, spending at least 20 min per cycle. Those times cannot be random, but need to match up to the window of sales for my chosen corner of the market.
Personally a reskin won’t cut it for me. The coloring is perfect Moebius and the primary reason I am interested in the mount. The AH will be brill, but not the motivating factor.
My only hope is that, once acquired, it doesn’t turn into one of those hollow things that you worked so hard to get that you can’t bear to look at it because it only reminds you of unpleasant things. :\ A big “gg” to the Blizz team on this one.
I just want to point out /again/ that on many severs, several markets have become entirely over-saturated with people hoping to farm this mount “easily” with people not spending money because they are also trying for this casually.
You want us to make the gold for this, but the announcement for this has impacted that. I know some people with expendable gold/income have changed servers entirely for this, but I guess Blizzard doesn’t care because of the money they’re earning off those transfers to high population raiding servers.
inb4 change your markets
I did.
I’m earning more than enough to make it in time. I’m also flipping off these people extremely casually. (Can’t make risky flips with the whole time limit garbage.)
Doesn’t mean this isn’t stupid.
If you don’t want everybody running around with an AH mount, just remove the functionality. Anybody reasonable will understand why, because frankly, leaving it in for only a small handful of players means they’re going to take advantages of it. And giving people player advantages that you can no longer obtain? Yikes.
inb4 not an advantage
You’ve obviously never played the AH if you think being able to use it anywhere at any time isn’t huge on servers where undercutting happens every 5 minutes. I’d love to be able to be able to track my transmog market stuff on the character I farm on because hoo.
The weirdest thing about this is there has still been no official announcement. The only mention of this change has been here, on the forums, where Blizzard themselves say the majority of players never come. And it only came up because it was datamined and a player posted about it. Then (in this thread) Kaivax confirmed the removal. Other than the two blue posts in this thread, I haven’t seen Blizzard make a peep about it.
I’m not doubting the mess the markets are in, but I think it’s more due to the lateness of the expansion and a drop in active players than people trying to get the Brutosaur.
I agree that limiting this mount gives an advantage to AH moguls who have it, but I think nearly all those players got it long ago. The main problems I have with its removal from the vendors are:
the unwarranted precedent this sets
there are no other Brutosaur mount options
it still hasn’t been officially announced to the WoW community
If Blizzard is set on this removal, the least they can do is rectify points 2 and 3. Make one or more non-AH models available from the vendors, and tell the community about it.
Such nonsense. I’ve had the mount since the early minutes of the expansion and I absolutely would protest if they shrunk it. I love how big it is. It was funny to shrink it through the gems occasionally during BoDA. It would suck for it to shrink permanently. A small sauropod is not cool.
Yes, I can’t imagine why people aren’t riding a ground mount everywhere now that we’ve got flying. eyerolls Plenty of people rode it around prior to flying becoming available. And if they’d give us mount equipment that would put little Koopa-style wings on ground mounts and let them fly? I’d go back to using it constantly just like I did prior to flying and as I expect I’ll do again in Shadowlands since I’m sure Ion is going to make us suffer for half or more of the expansion without flying again.
ETA: Also, on another dead horse aspect of this, guess what-a blue post on a topic is an announcement. That’s all the vast majority of issues ever get, including ones that are far more all-encompassing than a single mount being moved to the BMAH. You can protest that it’s not an announcement all you want, you can say most people don’t go on the forums. Doesn’t matter. That’s still how they announce tons of things. And if anyone complains that they didn’t know come Shadowlands, I’ll tell them the same thing I tell anyone who complains about not knowing something that was stated by the blues on the forums-you need to make checking a blue tracker part of your schedule if you don’t want to miss out on things.
I’ll accept an original Blizzard post as an “announcement”, but a reply to a player made thread is in no way an official announcement. In this particular case though, the announcement should have been made in the news article talking about the Feat of Strength. There’s no legitimate excuse for them to mention the Feat of Strength without coupling it with the information the mount will be moved to the Black Market Auction House and will no longer be available from the vendors.
I agree with this. The Mighty Caravan Brutosaur should never be made into a Mini Caravan Brutosaur. However, if they would put a non-AH model on the vendors like many here have been asking, I would be okay with it being smaller than the MCB. It should still be larger than average mounts though, otherwise it would look ridiculous.
