Oh I know about that too…they hate getting called out for stuff like that.
Which is why I don’t ever see it being done. Blizzard would just focus more on gold sinks that are targeted at those with massive piles of gold.
The 5mil mount was never a challenege…what the heck did you get into…something bad. Mage tower we were told at the start when they announce it…long boi they said nothing. Mage Tower like Challenge =/= 5mil Mount
O but plz do point and show us were they said it was going away way way before recently or that it was ever a challenge like the mage tower…I’ll be waiting…O wait you won’t be able to give that info. Cause your wrong about it,etc.
Nope 9.0 will be live by Dec 2020 maybe even sooner…as of late we have been getting new expansions earlier and earlier…I would say by Nov 2020 9.0 hits.
If it isn’t a challenge then why are so many people upset by its moving to the BMAH?
I can’t really debate the way the change was “announced” but they might be able to save face by tying in the brutosaurs removal with a preview of a shadowlands gold sink and/or explaining why they are changing their policy on gold sink mounts going forward.
Regardless of how it was discovered, you now have roughly a year to achieve this which is in line with other limited time activities.
Because this has never happened to any other gold sink/vendor mount, and wasn’t indicated it would happen when the mount released.
A gold sink is not a time limited activity. Them making a gold sink a time limited activity is explicitly saying “buy a mount from us for $500-$700”.
The shattered sun title was available in tbc for 1k gold but they removed it before wotlk came out. It’s kind of like that.
Same with making mounts account wide in that you now don’t have to buy mounts for each individual character.
Folk who gold farm should be rewarded. Exclusive mounts, battle pets, xmogs or whatever. In many games players complain they have nothing to spend their hard earned gold upon. While I believe 5 mil is a bit crazy, there are players who are sitting on tens of millions of gold. I’d love the mount myself, but will never be able to feasibly afford it.
It isn’t because you don’t have to spend real money to get it. You don’t even have to play the ah as some have pointed out how they grind gold to reach 5 million and it’s not even going away permanently like other titles/mounts. The entire argument against this change boil down to “It’s slightly harder and/or inconvenient for me wahh” which can be applied to so many other exclusive aspects of this game.
I’ve got server first titles and did mage tower for roughly 12ish skins and ahing gold is just as easy/hard as those activites.
They haven’t announced anything about this besides the data mining tidbit, maybe let them explain their plans/stance over all the whining atm?
I’m against taking things out of the game but I don’t see a difference with this over the many many other things people miss out on for various reasons.
Doesn’t mean it’s a “challenge” like the mage tower, etc as again the 5mil mount was never made for that to begin with as it’s another gold mount as the others…if it’s a challenge the the others are too…they are still in game. So /shrugs/
Edit: People see “challenges” differently buying a mount isn’t to me. Earning that gold isn’t either to me as well…that isn’t what I personally think is a challenge…but each their own.
Long Boi, while important, is just the most recent case of Blizzard refusing to talk to the player base involving decision making.
Before I get into this, I’ll make an obvious disclaimer. I don’t speak for anyone else other than me. And I don’t contest this is Blizzard’s game. They can do everything and anything they want with it. It’s up to us what we do in response.
That said, I’m gonna discuss Long Boi quick, but know that isn’t the focus of this thread. It’s to establish context. The problem with Long Boi, in my opinion, is the way the announcement (which it wasn’t one) was handled. Yes, you can argue the removal of Long Boi makes no sense due to the previous gold sinks not being removed either, and I’m in total agreement, but that’s not the biggest issue.
Once again, we weren’t told something. We did not receive information directly from Blizzard first. That’s important. A feat of strength got datamined, some random forum goer (not diminishing him, just making a point) made a thread unsure of what it meant but thought he’d make it just in case, and then a Blue casually came in and confirmed it was gonna happen and then zero information was given beyond that. That feels terrible.
This has happened more than once. Legion world scaling? Same situation. Some random person felt like things were taking longer to kill, couldn’t figure out why, randomly tested things and found out by removing his gear that mob HP was going down and the world was suddenly scaling to him. The player base exploded because of this “undocumented change”.
The GCD change? Same deal. Not a word. Random beta tester goes on the beta to test some shenanigans and finds out Avenging Wrath is on the GCD. That guy filed a bug report originally, if I remember correctly, because nothing was said again and then we get confirmation this is happening with another philosophy discussion from Watcher about why it’s happening.
Notice a trend? We figure stuff out the hard way, then we’re told something, and then it gets abandoned again until the thing actually happens! Order of operations means something! We should be told this is happening, so we can digest, and understand, and then make an educated opinion.
Take the GCD example. If a forum thread was made involving the GCD ahead of time, where we were told what the plan was, and given the philosophical speech involving why from Watcher ahead of time? I can’t speak for other people, but I can say that I personally would go: “Well. Okay, I get it. I dunno if I’ll agree with it, but at least I’m told what the plan is, so I’m willing to give it an honest shot.”
PvP this expansion? Abandoned. Class balance outside of the MDI and Mythic Raiding? Abandoned. No words. No nothing. Left to sit here and wait with our thumbs twiddling. Major changes? Nothing said till we find out via datamining, and hope for confirmation.
Talk to your player base, please. The outrage and stuff? These shenanigans? While they’ll never fully go away, you can help mitigate them by actually talking to us.
TL;DR.
Moo🐄
Double dog dare please Blizz.
Could always join the “unsub club.” We are an ever growing faction that saw through Blizzard’s BS a few months into BFA and went, “nah, this is stupid.”
This. This here is exactly why people keep threatening to quit the game or abandoning in silence.
Blizzard hasn’t communicated with their player base since Mists of Pandaria. I doubt they are going to start any time soon.
It’d be more believable if that faction didn’t hang out on the forum for ages after they supposedly stopped playing a game they claim is so bad.
Some of us would if they made it so Classic and Retail subs weren’t connected.
Yeah, but I mean the people that claim to not play either for months and months but never leave the forum.
