You don’t have to do it ya know? Just like I don’t have to pvp to get seasonal mounts I like. There are dozens and dozens of things gated behind different aspects of the game that you can choose to do or not. Until they lift all limited time stuff I don’t see a difference for this mount.
O you are so wrong. We don’t even know what the starting price will be. I bet right at 5mil or higher…this is the BMAH we are talking about. The more determined someone is to bid the higher it’ll be.
If they want to create high inflation that may mean that they are going to do gold squish. If they change gold into silver 5M gold will become 50k gold (100 to 1).
No, this is a mount i wanted but didn’t mind waiting for another expansion. It has now become a priority because I was planning to get it. Just not rushing for it. It is my choice to go for, partly because I love dinosaurs and zandalari. But yea it would have been better to know from the expansion start. As we missed ideal times to make $
Thinking more about this, the most likely reason is that they indeed plan to crack up inflation like WoD or Cata and 5M (or equivalent if they also implement gold squish) would become a small change after an expansion or two.
So the mount either becomes trivial to obtain (and it is indeed OP w. mobile AH) or they remove it. It seems they choose to remove it and probably replace w. a new one that will be 50M in today’s gold. We may have to wait for the expansion after Shadowlands to get it though.
There’s been a pretty clear drop in token prices since confirmation that the mount is going away.
We’re still waiting on Blizzard to tell us why they’re removing the mount. We’ve given them plenty of reasons why it should stay, but it’s difficult to be precise in countering their logic if they won’t tell us why it’s being removed.
If the AH version is such a problem, then they should be introducing an AH-less version of the Brutosaur so people can still get the mount model.
SO then couldn’t they just squish the mount price and all other in game items relative to their price if they were to squish earnings as well?
Say hypothetically they did this and they make all gold you have and future earnings 1% of the value it is now. That would make the Brutosaur 50,000g while joe shcmoe with 4 million gold has his reduced to 40,000. This would obviously effect everything, not just these two things. Everything from repair costs, food, transmog, etc.
Even if they did something like this, it proves there is no need to take it away. You’re just making everything appear smaller when in reality you just give it the same value with an easier to read sticker price.
I highly doubt that they’d ever do a gold squish because the ensuing chaos of people not being informed of said event will assume that they’ve had their gold stolen and/or was lost somehow.
They won’t tell us…
Missing out on ideal times to do a thing happens all the time - leveling in AV atm, profession leveling before they divided them by xpac. Just because it’s not ideal doesn’t mean you can’t still do it. Not knowing at the start of the xpac is a weak excuse where the time left is more important - mage tower was known before it released but you still had roughly a year to get it done, just like this challenge.
Which I am doing. And I’m not enjoying. The deadline will probably be 9.0. Which now I am hoping will be 2021.
This is feedback. I do not like things being removed without forewarning. It feels scummy. And stuff like that makes me not want to recommend the game.
They weren’t even prepared to tell us it was going away. The only reason we know anything is because of datamining.
My guess is that they’re using the Mad Merchant as the model for all gold sinks from now on. I’m thinking that they were always planning on making the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur much harder to acquire in 9.0.1 by moving it to the BMAH where it will be made artificially more elusive through the RNG of that system.
It’s absolute garbage either way. I don’t care if mount was always planned to be moved to the BMAH or if this was just a last minute decision to meet a loyalty reward quota or something, they shouldn’t be moving the mount to the BMAH out of the blue like this.
For another 5m and then remove it after shadowlands? it’ll be a token-mine for blizzard everytime.
Imagine confirming apishly stupid decisions like this with such a flippant attitude…that’s totally how you make money…
HOpefully we’ve learned that these aren’t one-off things - they’re consistent and ever occurring.
And we should all be quiet and deal with it. Blizzard doesn’t care.
So pay them the money required and be done with it.
O yea. That would be a really bad move…worst than this mount one. >.> O god the amount of people getting mad if we weren’t warn on something like a gold squish level. Or people freaking out that their gold disappeared/shrunk. 0.o
As you said, we knew before mage tower released that it would be limited time. We were not informed as such about this mount, nor is there any evidence we would have been, as datamining found it, and the devs simply confirmed.
This isn’t a challenge, it is a gold sink. The mammoth in WotLK was a gold sink, it is still in game. The yak in pandaria was a gold sink, it is still in game. The spider in legion was a gold sink, it is still in game. This is the only gold sink they have ever removed.
