I think people are annoyed that a vendor mount of all things is being removed pointlessly.
It feels like they are pushing for token sales and I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the gold sink mounts start becoming seasonal.
A cash grab is a cash grab while people are being overly dramatic its still a pretty scummy move.
Edit: im bad with touch pad keyboards.
How is it a cash grab? I bought mine with gold, no tokens.
While I do agree this is a good prestige reward for those who focus their energies on making gold, there is a pay to win aspect to it as gold can be purchased in the form of a token. And that is where it looks like people are getting upset over this.
Yeah I could as well to be honest but I sell carries and I assume you do something outside of normal game play for gold as well… or horded it in wod with alts.
Its making it a buy now! Limited event that is the push to get the average joe spending and its a vendor mount…
There isn’t a reason beyond wanting to move tokens I can readily see.
You keep saying tokens. The amount of tokens you would have to buy puts it out of the price range of a good portion of the playerbase anyways.
Why do you need an AH mount if you don’t play the AH?
Few points to make here. They are targeting whales with this and wow has enough people with every store mount or tgc mounts off Ebay to show there is a market for that predatory business.
As for the ah… that usefulness varies based on expansion. In bfa I would argue its near useless but I can see the draw of it if we return to farming being profitable like mop.
I still don’t see a justification for removing it. In the past removed mounts were all tied to events or high level play that couldn’t be replicated.
…this is a vendor mount it doesn’t belong in that category.
I made the majority of my gold from current expansion enchanting (mostly from the tidespray linen shuffle/scrapper/leatherworking epics), Vial of the Sands and Sky Golem. I didn’t play WoD but had fun with the Legion tables. I started BFA with zero gold (<30k).
If I can do it, anyone can…BUUUUUT, if you waited this long to work for it you’re going to have a heck of a time. Current expansion markets have been hit by Classic and Benthic gear, so it’s going to be harder. That said, it’s still doable. I can’t afford the Spider mount right now, but in a few months, sure, I should be able to save that up.
I don’t mind that they’re taking it away, but I’m biased, as I already have it. The yak or mammoth will still have vendors and you can get them both for a song comparatively.
You could argue there was no justification for removing the Mage Tower too. But it turns out that was a single expansion challenge. The Brutorsaur is a single expansion challenge, no matter how its currently being labled. It’s NOT just a vendor mount. Its a mobile AH, that’s why its expensive.
I for one, love exclusive content. YMMV.
The problem is there is justification for removing the mage tower… new talents and spells would of made the challenges trivial or impossible for certain classes it wasn’t somethig you could just scale up.
When I say vendor mount it is simply a mount sold by a vendor. It isnt a expansion challenge mount as I could afford several before bfa even launched.
Its a push to get whales to buy tokens. You can’t really frame it any other way.
I really just think we need a economy reboot with a new currency for Shadowlands and future expansions gold is pretty much done for leave it for buying stuff in old expansions.
You mean they are jealous others might actually buy this with real money when people could do that all along ?
They would end up with a player base reboot as well if they did that.
You really don’t kill the goose laying the golden eggs and people with a lot of gold in this game are typically their best customers.
Too big, hope it stays gone
I agree that the decision itself was wrong, however.
I get what you’re saying, but it’s projection. I bought mine with gold. 3% of the population has it. Yes, a percentage of those bought it with tokens bought with RL money. What percentage? Well, you’d have to make up a number…nobody could know.
Whales exist. Tokens exist. Brutosaurs can exist without either one of them. I’m proof.
Right no one is arguing any of those things can’t exist though…
They are saying that making it a limited time deal is a cash grab and it clearly is. It is a unique mount in terms of utility (If we are talking about trophies to show ones wealth the spider still exceeds it) and that really makes it seem like they are going for a “you better not miss out” rather then trying to commemorate any kind of accomplishment.
Pointing out that this mount goes against every other established reason for items being removed isn’t projection its just stating facts.
I’m only saying the assumption that it is a cash grab is ridiculous. My 5 million gold got me what I wanted and I’m glad I got it before it became rare. The BMAH has all kinds of stuff I don’t have (and want), but that’ll be more of a cash grab than the expansion retirement. You can get it now for 5 mil, or (probably) 10 mil from BMAH in the future. We’re 50% through BFA, there’s just as much time left as time that has passed.
tbh
I would’ve put it on there to start with, it’s a really damn useful mount
perfect goldsink
