You must not play many F2P games funded by lootboxes. In Star Trek Online there are many super rare lootbox ships that (unless you’re extremely lucky) cost hundreds of dollars to acquire either by opening lootboxes or selling lootbox keys for enough in-game currency to purchase the ship from someone else who pulled one from a lootbox. And despite the ridiculous cost there are plenty of people flying these ships.
The average player can’t afford to spend that much, but things like this are never targeted towards average players, instead they are targeted at the whales with deep pockets.
I know there are people who spend a lot of money on F2P games but they generally don’t pay that kind of money for straight cosmetic items in my experience. Maybe those ships are purely cosmetic, I don’t know because I don’t play that game.
Regardless, if these things are targeted towards the whales with deep pockets who cares if they want to waste money. That mount can be gained straight by paying for it with gold earned in the game.
We were talking about challenges. You were claiming earning 5 million gold wasn’t a challenge because someone could get it with real money.
It really is stupid to claim that negates the challenge of making 5 million gold because then all sorts of ‘challenges’ in the game are negated as well based on that rational.
We’ll have to disagree on this and there’s no point to furthering this discussion if it’s already causing you to start insulting people with differing views than yours.
Why, then, wasn’t it announced as such? It was there as the new utility mount, same as the Mammoth and Yak in LK and MoP. It was also there to replace the AH feature they took away from the mobile app. It was never announced as a limited time thing, it was never announced as a challenge thing, and history dictated it would behave as every other utility/gold-sink/vendor mount in-game
You do realize that the mount is not mandatory, right? There is a Wrap of Eternity that will take you to less than 30 seconds from the AH in Org, and you can click it every 4 hours. Why waste $$ or gold when it’s totally convenient to just click from wherever you are.
Maybe I’m just a miser in my old age, but I won’t waste what gold I have or $$ to get that mount.
What achievement did people get for buying that mount ? I didn’t think there was one now. And no not every no longer attainable achievement becomes a FoS either.
Oh, I thought there was one. Well, change my example. Weapon skills. When they removed the skill levels, the corresponding achievs, like this one became FoSs. Every removed content achievement turns into a FoS. And this FoS is being added now, and was not announced by them, but through datamining, it was not there from the very beginning.
EDIT: Creating a FoS out of the blue and cramming it into the game does not make it retroactively a challenge.
