I live out of state from friends and family. Sometimes my wife has to work so plan for me is to make a smaller dinner for her and I and the dogs :). Then toss some football on the TV and if she has to work I might give the expansion a try.

When Blizzard provides a release date for thier game and everyones upset SMH. You don’t have to play week 1, you will have 2 years of this expansion.

They’ve fixed and overhauled a lot of stuff in beta. Now there are minor bugs (like some inns that you can’t log out from), but that will likely be an easy fix. And is not something that should hold up the entire expac.

I look at it as two less days in the week I’ll have to request off (normally get Thanksgiving and Black Friday off). Will have plenty of time for both Shadowlands and family.

Same! Nobody in the office is taking that whole week off either, so it worked out for me. Now I can use that extra vacation for Christmas and New Years.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic, are people really getting together for anything this year?

My country doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but lets be real, if you choose a video game over spending time with your family, you need to rethink your priorities.

I’m not actually skipping Thanksgiving

having to be at a point where you have to choose between family and a darn vidya game is a terrible place to be in life

The rest of the world doesn’t care for some silly American holiday. I look forward to the 24th as thats what day it will be in my country

We are planning to do zoom calls with family and all do separate smaller tday meals but cook at the same time together and chat. Kids of the family are all planning to play games together online. This blows but I’m also not blowing off family stuff for leveling.

I shall be rewarding my family with the obligatory 30 minutes it takes to eat Thanksgiving dinner… which is also twice as long it takes to infect them all.

US has less playerbase than EU so obviously they will cater to their biggest playerbase

Nope. I can spend 4 hrs with the folks. Not going to miss an opportunity for pumpkin pie cranberry sauce and Ham let’s not forget deviled eggs and mashed potatoes.

It’s not even a choice.

Blizzard could release Shadowlands on Christmas Day and I’d still spend that day with my family, because family comes first. Shadowlands isn’t going anywhere. I’ve got more than enough time to enjoy it.

Maybe you’re not in the US so its different for you, but here we’ve royally screwed up our Covid response. We hit record numbers just a couple days ago, and it’s only going to get worse from here as the flu season ramps up as well.

Thanksgiving Family Gatherings are going to be Super-Spreader events that turn December/January on into just as bad as our worse months in 2020 have been so far.

Anyone who cares about their health and the health of their loved ones shouldn’t be doing in-person family gatherings anyways. The amount of people in here talking about having to choose between family and WoW boggles the mind. Normally, I’d say choose family over WoW.

But if choosing family has the potential to get half of you killed from Covid like we’ve seen from family gatherings and the oh so stupid ‘covid parties’ all year long, then the choice is obvious.

Look at the graph for covid cases in EU. They skyrocketed. Fatigue is setting in some people just aren’t going to care anymore.
